It says right in that same ayah that this was ordered for the children of Israel, not Adam's sons, not the Muslims who followed Muhammad. Amazing thing to guarantee all of these were sincere and dutiful 'muslims', when still the same ayah says the opposite.

5:32 For that cause, We decreed for the children of Isra’il that whoever kills a human being for other than manslaughter or corruption in the earth, it shall be as if he had killed all mankind, and whoever saves the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind. Our messengers came to them of old with clear proofs, but afterwards many of them became prodigals in the earth.

5:33 The only reward of those who make war upon the God and His messenger and strive after corruption in the land will be that they will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land. Islam is a religion that employs spiritual blackmail to enslave followers to the will of an ideological authority. Spiritual blackmail takes the form of threats of eternal damnation in hell after death and promises of eternal bliss in Heaven after life. This spiritual blackmail is used to enslave followers to the will of an ideological authority who claims to know the will of a good one in Heaven at war with an evil one cast down to and ruling over Earth. Ideological authorities in turn sell influence over communities of faithful believers to a mercenary plutocratic predatory few that prey upon the many of our global culture. A mercenary plutocratic predatory few use this influence over communities of faithful believers to profit from the sale and manufacture of the products and services of a beast of a military industry complex by causing communities of faithful believers to run a race to out work, out fight and out number competition in the global culture and go to war with one another over matters of faith. Evidence to support this statment is found in the form of a global shakedown of epic proportions that some call "a war on terror". I guess it stands to reason that a religion like Islam that uses spiritual blackmail to enslave followers to the will of an ideological authority would be used to institutionalize slavery. I see no reason why Christianity could not have been used or Judaism for that matter. All Abramic Religions employ spiritual blackmail to enslave followers to the will of an ideological authority.
