Must Do Visits In Italy

One city that one MUST visit in Italy?

Hi,I'm Italian.Last April i visited Venice for the very first time(even if it's only 2 hours far from me) and I found it wounderful, but a little bit too expensive(florence, venice,Rome are the most expensive).I stayed in a bed and brekfast and payed 55 euros per night....But it always depends on the period(but don't go there in deep winter because it's deserted).Otherwise,if you want to pay less you have to go in ostello...Verona (near where I live)is very wonderful(there's also the statue of Giulietta which is believed to bring luck ) and it's near to Cremona. However,if you come in Spring every big city is beautiful because they play live music in every square and shops like Fiorucci,Versace eccetera are open even in the evening (they usually close at 19:00)!Good luck!

Best places to visit in Italy?

As a frequent traveler, and an Italian, I would reccomend many places in Italy. You can never go wrong with Rome! You can be there for a year and not see everything, but stay there for a few days, and you will love it. Venice and Florence are also spectacular as well as Milan and Naples. My personal favorite is Abbruzzo...it is absolutley amazing. My family and my summer home is there and it is fun and beautiful. Although, I would not reccommend going to Italy alone. It might be a bit boring for you. Bring a family member or a friend!

As for places to visit...do NOT make a schedule for yourself or plan out your day ahead of time. You will NOT follow it a guarentee! You will just want to take it all in when you are there. Oh, and you walk everywhere, so renting a car is not nesessary. There are many bed and breakfasts in all of these places, and they are all pretty much great. Have fun...and I'll be there this summer too!

How do I apply for an Italian visa?

I'm a Chinese citizen living in Minnesota, and I know that I'll have to go to the Italian consulate in Chicago in order to obtain the visa. I've looked on other websites, but none have been very helpful. I know that I need a passport, proof of insurance and adequate funds, and a Schengen visa application and photo, etc.

I guess my biggest problem is, how do I give proof of adequate funds and that I have a place to stay? I've also heard varying things on whether to book a flight beforehand. Any clarifications would be great.

Should I visit Paris, France or Venice, Italy?

I have traveled all over the world, but have never toured Paris or Venice.
I have an opportunity to stay an extra 3-4 days in another city, besides the 6 other countries I am slated to vacation in, during the month of August. If you have traveled like I have & have been to these 2 cities, which one would you pick? Why would you choose one over the other? I know most women will probably say *Paris. "It's so *Romantic"! But I am traveling solo & Romance is NOT a focus for me. Money & Time are Not really an issue, either. I just enjoy the Cultures & Art of Europe. So which do you think I should book, in addition to all the other cities from Amsterdam down the Rhine/Danube to The Black Sea. I'm excited to vacation again in Europe. Don't say BOTH cities, because my itinerary is quite full already. Thanks!

Do I need to speak Italian to visit Italy?

It is useful to be able to speak Italian in Italy but you don’t necessarily need to speak it. The places where you’re going to encounter difficulties are outside the major cities and the countryside. Many Italians have lived in these places all of their lives and have not been exposed to other languages.I lived just outside of Venice and found it quite difficult at first to find anyone who spoke English. However, sometimes just a few hand gestures sufficed!Good luck! ;)
