My 6 Week Old Baby Has A Low Grade Temp.

My 9 month old girl has low grade fever (99.1 - 99.9) for 6 weeks now?

My 9 month old got virus 6 weeks ago, and ran high temp for a day or two, then it came down to between 99.1 -99.9 and since then she keeps that range. Spoke with the pediatrician, she said that most probably my daughter is teething. Checked with another specialist-not concerned, but I am still concerned, because it has been quite long time. Even if she is teething, I think it is too long. two weeks ago she had 3 teeth coming out at the same time, but I think that it should be over by now, if the low grade fever was because of teething. Please help.
Just to mention that this is her ear temperature. Thank in advance for any advices.

6 week old has temp of 99.0-99.9 for 5 days now? is this normal for babies?

According to the website of well-respected pediatrician and attachment parenting guru, Dr. Sears, a normal temperature is 97 to 99 degrees (36 to 37.2 Celsius) and a low-grade fever is 99 to 100.9 degrees (37.3 to 38.3 Celsius).

His advice is to NOT treat a low-grade fever: His site says, "Low-grade fevers are helpful in fighting off infection. You should only treat a fever when it is making your child miserable. Treat your child, not the fever."

I placed a link to his helpful Childhood Illnesses Index page on Fevers below. I love this site as well as their "medicine cabinet" that gives you dosage amounts and advice on common children's medicines.

Good luck!

If my 6 month old has a low grade fever (99.4), can I give him a bath?

How is your 6 month old behaving?

If he's acting pretty normal now (playing, babbling, wiggling), a bath isn't a bad idea. Make the water warm enough not to give him a chill, but cold enough not to make the fever higher.

If he's acting sick... listless, sleeping more, doesn't want to eat or play, continuing to throw up; follow your mommy intuition and call the doctor (or if, despite his low grade fever, he's acting more sick than he ought to... take him to the ER).

Good Luck

6 week old infant has 100.4 rectal temp?

I brought my son to the emergency room last night for a rectal temp of 100.3 (at age 6weeks) and a bad cough he got from his brother. They did alot of test, lab work and xrays, and said he was ok to go home and it was a cold. His pediatrician called to touch base today. He said there is nothing they can do for the cough and at that point the fever was gone. His fever has once again reached 100.4 (rectal) and I feel he should go back to the ER but they told me to give him tylenol and check him again in a hour? He is eating 4oz every 4 hours and peeing and pooping. Tired, but seems to be dealing with it ok. I have never had a child so young sick like this. His cough is horrible.

What should i do my 6 week old got 100.1 should i go to the hospital or what should i do ,she had tylanol?

Are you sure you took the temperature correctly? Sometimes you have to add or subtract a degree depending on where you took it. You might find this helpful:

Good luck, sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Is 100.6 fever high for a 1 1/2 month old baby?

Call your Dr. 100.4 is the cut off point. HOW did you take the temp? Do you even know if your thermometer is accurate to a .2 degree? Call the Dr first. No sense rushing to ER without speaking to him/her first. They might have you try Tylenol or Motrin at home (the first thing they would do at the ER) to see if it comes down at all & YOUR DR could tell the appropriate dosing for that. It is not a "high" fever - but any temp above 100.4 is a reason to call the Dr if the baby is this young. The ONLY reason they want us to take note of fevers when they are LOW like this is because any elevation in temp COULD BE an indication fo infection & they err on the side of caution in babies that young. It does not mean it is a "high fever for a 6 week old" - it is STILL a LOW GRADE fever - but it is a fever nonetheless & they like to check out all fever in babies that age.
