My 9 Month Old Lab Possibly Pregnant

If a dog is 6 months old and gets pregnant, will she survive?

If you take very good care of her and monitor her through out her pregnancy and labor, she should be okay. Just know that she’s still a baby. This is like a 12 year old girl having a baby, she’s not going to know what to do with her puppies. She’s really going to need you there to help her through this. Once those puppies are born, you need to keep a watchful eye on her and the puppies to make sure they’re all eating enough, being cleaned and not neglected or bitten. There are a number of problems that can happen with her having a litter so young so you need to study up NOW and make sure you’re prepared! There’s a ton of information on breeding, whelping and raising litters that is available online for you to read. And don’t hesitate to get your vet involved. They can help with this process.I also recommend you get her and the entire litter spayed and neutered once old enough to prevent more accidents. Also talk with your vet on getting mama and puppies vaccinated before trying to rehome them. This is probably going to be expensive and time consuming so if you don’t think you can afford or handle this pressure, I suggest you take the puppy back to the breeder or shelter you got her from and ask for them to help you.

How early can a black lab/ blue heeler get pregnant?

Dogs go into heat anywhere between 6-12 months. With her privates swolen, it sounds to me that she is in heat. If it is the right time in her cycle and she was left with a male dog, chances are that they tried to mate. And if they did, she is most likely pregnant. Dogs can get pregnant on their first heat. If you take her to the vet, they can tell you. Good Luck!!!

My 9month old Pit-bull got pregnant is she going to be OK?

She will most likely do fine. You need to have a can of puppy formula on hand in case she doesn't feed them. She is like a 13 year old girl having a baby. She may not know how to care for them at first, so please get a bottle and newborn nipple, and a can of Esbilac (puppy formla) or canned goat milk (with the other canned milk at the grocer's. Puppies need to eat by the time they are 2 hours old. If she isn't feeding them, you will need to do it. Be sure to warm the food, just as you would for a baby.

How many months into a pregnancy is a baby formed in the womb?

Original Question:“How many months into a pregnancy is a baby formed in the womb?”I see two ways of interpreting your question.1st interpretation— the word “formed”. Do you mean “fully formed” as in having arms, legs, muscles and bones, fingers and toes, a neck and head with a brain, and torso with internal organs, etc.?To answer that interpretation, a baby is “formed”, and looks like a human being — NOT a fish, NOT a blob, NOT a turtle, NOT like some round-headed alligator with a tail, NOT “Barney- the Purple Dinosaur” —- as early as 5 weeks after conception. How do I know this? Because I KNOW when I became pregnant and i miscarried THREE babies where I actually SAW the baby’s dead body at those exact weeks of pregnancy. At 5 weeks after conception the baby had easily seen finger and toe buds, or nubs. At 6 weeks, another baby had bends and joints in those fingers and toes. The baby body I saw at the 8 week mark from conception had the deformity of having all of his or her internal organs outside of the body. The nurses, doctor and I saw the heart, the lungs, the liver, stomach and intestines on the outside on the front of the chest and abdominal cavity.2nd interpretation — Are you asking this question in order to determine the safe viability so someone can go into a labor and birth inducing process? Or to schedule a C-section?Generally, the optimum length of time is 10 Lunar months, which is 280 days. (28 day lunar month X 10 lunar months = 280 days.)The best doctors do NOT induce labor if they don’t have a darn good reason to do so, based on lab work and reasonable proof there is a danger to the mother or the baby.Getting an UN-needed C-section is risky. It is MAJOR surgery!42 weeks of apparent gestation is still often quite safe. Remember, the actual date of conception is only an educated guess. As a side note—- one of our friends recently gave birth to a little baby boy. The doctors figured he was at full term and would be an 8 lb. baby— based on ultrasound and measurements. They went ahead and induced, because she was 5 days later than the calculated due date—and it was the Holiday season. The little guy was only a FIVE pound + several ounces baby. Even with science, things are not clearly known. The doctors in the OB practice agree it would have been better if the baby had had that extra week.

1 year old Labrador Pregnant...any MAJOR worries?

Congrats! Sounds like in another 33 days or so you going to have grandpuppies!! Time to up her feedings and I have always found that feeding an expecting dam puppy chow does wonders for them. Make sure lots of fresh water (you knew that already lol)
She will be fine..if you can afford a vet take her for an ultrasound but if not don't worry too much.
Just make sure she has lots of nutrition as the pups will be growing full speed ahead and rob her of important vitamins and minerals. I always feed my expecting girls peanut butter sandwiches Twice a day for extra protein and it makes their coat really nice.
In another week when she is getting a belly rub hold your hand down towards he side just where her fur meets skin and you may be able to feel movement.
Once she is a bit closer make a nice bedding area or whelping box for her in a quiet place and go there with her when you can and just lay with her so she know it is a nice safe place.
I always use old sheets for bedding that can be thrown away after. Anyway on the big day she will be restless and may go off her food but not always. She may start to hide in dark places just take her to her spot..she will dig at the blankets, lay down. get up this will go on for a bit. She will then push and get up and down some more. Then she will lay down and start straining and you will see a kind of water balloon kinda thing..this may break as she is giving birth and there's your pup. She will lick it off and I usually sit with a warm towel so when number 2 comes I can get number one out of the way but make sure she can still see the puppy so she doesn't get to anxious. There should be a good 20 minutes or so between pups..but we have had females go as long as an hour between pups then the flood gates seem to open and they come pretty regular. Our one female had 15 in a matter of 6 hours while our other had 14 and it took 3 days, a trip to the vet and 2 shots of oxytocin.
I wish you and your little family all the best!!
Man on man these people on here are rude eh!
You are right lots of young dogs have pups and do well..some people seem to enjoy bashing others on here when someone asks a question about pregnant dogs..they must feel very important lol
We have had to youngsters have pups on there first heat and all was well..
just ignore them and know that they will feel superior and smug by being so "smart"

My female staffy is 8 months i think she may be pregnant. can she have the pups or wat will i do?

8 months is WAY young to have a litter. Not only is she not fully developed physically, she isn't fully developed mentally either. Most good breeders wait until a dog is 2 years old or older to whelp their first litter.

You need to take her to the vet, get an X-ray so you will know exactly how many pups to expect. When she starts having them, stay with her the whole time. Any sign of trouble...rush to the vet. I hope you have a pretty penny saved up in case she needs an emergency c-section.

Be prepared to spend at least the first 3 weeks beside the whelping box, keeping an eye on things...no sleep for you! Its all part of being a responsible breeder. Maybe you weren't totally responsible in breeding her so young, but you can do your best now.

Does my dog know im pregnant?

My husband and I have a 6 month old German Shepard/Lab Mix. We obtained him from rescue when he was 4 months old. I am pregnant and I have been pregnant for as long as we have had him. Ever since we have gotten him he lays on my stomach all the time, follows me around, and constnatly has to be near me. He follows me to the bathroom and sits in there with me untill im done. I aboustly love this however I am just curious if he is acting like this because he knows I am pregnant?? Do dogs really know if a women is pregnant??

Can my 4 month old pup start her period?

Dogs don't have periods. They come into season or Estrus, which is the opposite of a period. The only similarity is that there is some blood loss.

Your girl at 4 months is a bit too young to come into season. She may have a urinary tract infection so take her along to the vet. UTI's are not only painful but they can cause permanent bladder and/or kidney damage.
