How much can a Ford Ranger carry in the bed?

Rangers are half ton trucks, so 1000 pounds.
You can add air bags and increase the weight another 500 pounds.
for towing, if you get a class 3 hitch, you can tow probably 10,000 pounds, but I wouldn't recommend that much unless its an easy drive. the excess weight isn't the issue as much as the truck sliding back & forth.
Rangers are tough trucks, it can handle whatever you throw at it.
But if you're looking for more hauling & towing, you should've gotten an F-150 or even F-250

Towing capacity of 1989 Ford F150 Lariat XLT 4x2?

You need to tell us more. ie. what motor is it ext. cab or reg. auto or manual trans. This all plays a factor in what it can handle.
With all the info you stated I found out that its the 5.0 that limits you. Depending on your axle ratio your towing capacity is
3.08 gear is 2000lb max
3.55 gear 7700lb max &
4.10 gear 8000lb max.
Please note that these are max ratings so whatever you do DO NOT exceed them. For an older truck like your 18 year old truck I wouldn't tow anything that came close to the limit.
Now on another note. Most states require anything over 2000lb to have electric brakes.

Why does my Ford Explorer shake when it's in idle?

Nothing beats the experience of sitting in a vibrating chair, it is soothing and deeply relaxing for your nerves. Now, if you exchange the chair seat with the seat of a car, the result will not be all the good for your nerves. If you have been unfortunate enough to experience your car shake when idle you would be alarmed and not to mention a tad bit scared as well. Questions like ‘what is wrong with my car’ and why is my car shaking while idling will definitely come to your mind. This happens to a lot of car owners who have been driving their car for a really long time. A little shaking often begins and eventually leads to a vibration that is so strong that it can be felt through the seat and the steering wheel.Car Shaking While IdlingThere are many reasons and even forms of vibration and shaking of the car that one may experience. If you are sitting at a red light in your car and despite being in a vehicle the car shake at idle makes you feel like you are sitting on a weight loss machine, then there is something definitely wrong with your car. The most likely problem in this situation is that something is broken in your car. It can be a broken or at times even a worn out motor mount which can cause the engine to move around way too much and cause the sensation of vibration. Low RPM can result in a lot of bounce under the hood of the car. This can be fixed with a minor or a major repair all depending upon the condition of the car. There can be issues with the fuel system as well. If the engine RPM is not functioning properly and drops suddenly, it can cause vibrations. Why Is My Car Shaking While IdlingThere can be a plethora of issues as to why your car can start shaking at idling and here are those reasons. You need to see what is exactly wrong with the vehicle and get it repaired immediately to avoid any mishappening in the future:#1. Wheels Get Out Of Balance#2. Loose Hoses#3. What are reasons your steering wheel won't lock?

I assume that you are referring to your steering wheel not locking in position after you stop the vehicle and take out the key? There are several possible reasons for this.1. The cog that fits into the detent on the steering column is broken and needs to be replaced.2. The detent on the steering column is worn or broken3. You have not turned the wheel far enough for the cog to find a detent. Pull the wheel first to the left, and then to the right to find the spot.4. The actuator from the solenoid to the cog is broken. To repair this will require the cover on the steering column to be removed, and probably need to have the steering wheel removed as well. Take it to a qualified shop or dealer for this. Incorrect actions could result in damage to the parts, or even the deployment of the air bag on the steering wheel. The exact disassembly required will differ for each manufacturer and possible model of vehicle. If you have a Chilton's manual for your vehicle, you can look up the repair to see what is involve.

My radio is out on my ford f150 truck ... which fuses control the radio?

Short Answer:
#1 position of the passenger compartment fuse box, it's a 15Amp blue fuse is labeled "Audio".
#8 position of the passenger compartment fuse box, it's a 5Amp tan fuse is labeled "Radio" (and other accessories).
#20 position of the passenger compartment fuse box, it's a 15Amp tan fuse is labeled "Audio" (and other accessories).
#30 position of the passenger compartment fuse box, it's a 30Amp green fuse is labeled "Radio Noise Capacitor" (and other accessories).

Long Answer (for future reference):
There are actually 2 "fuse boxes"
The Passenger compartment fuse panel & the power distribution box

Passenger compartment fuse panel
The fuse panel is located below and to the left of the steering wheel by
the brake pedal. Remove the panel cover to access the fuses.
To remove a fuse use the fuse puller tool provided on the fuse panel
cover.
The power distribution box:
is located in the engine compartment.
The power distribution box contains
high-current fuses that protect your
vehicle’s main electrical systems
from overloads.

The fuse panel and power distribution box locations can be viewed, with diagrams, from your owners manual (fuse chapter starts on page 207)

How do I put my dad's 99 Ford F150 into 4-wheel drive? It has a manual transmission with 4x4 shifter on the floor. No lockouts, and no push button 4x4.

The first thing you will need to do is put the pickup in neutral, set the parking brake, and get out. A 99 F150 probably has manual hubs, which means the front wheels can spin independently from the axle shafts under normal conditions. The wheel hub should have a selector you can turn to lock the hub. Just turn it clockwise until it stops; you should feel a click as the hub engages. Do this to both front wheels. Then, move the transfer case stick into 4WD, release the parking brake, and drive as normally.
