Why is my mouse cursor disappearing?

That sounds like two distinct problems. The jumping cursor may be due to an overly sensitive mousepad picking up your thumbs even without contact. (Personally, I think laptops are evil!) There may be a way to adjust the sensitivity, either on the keyboard or via Windows itself.

The cursor disappearing could be because of a Windows mouse setting:

In Windows XP:

1. Click the Start->Control panel menu item.
2. Click Printers and Other hardware.
3. Click Mouse.
4. Click the Pointer Options tab.
5. If the Hide Pointer While Typing checkbox is checked, clear it and click OK.

In Windows Vista:

1. Click the Windows->Control panel menu item.
2. Under Hardware and Sound, click Mouse.
3. Continue as with Step 4, above.

Hope that helps.

My laptop's cursor is not working when connected to the charger. How can I solve this problem?

Thanks for the request. You should indicate whether it is your touchpad mouse or a USB or Bluetooth mouse. If it is your touchpad, you need to plug in a USB mouse and see if that works, if it does, it means that you could possibly have power leakage in your case, or you motherboard is heating up.If a USB mouse does not work, based on the age of your laptop, you should have the power system checked as power is leaking and interfering with the isolated system. You could strip it and check for a loose wire.Hope this helps.

My cursor on my laptop won't move. How can I fix this?

You probably accidentally locked it. Look on your laptop's keyboard for a picture that looks like your mouse trackpad. Usually you hit the Function (Fn) key and that button to lock or unlock it. On some laptops, there is a button right above the trackpad to lock or unlock it.

My touch pad has stopped working on my Acer Aspire 3050. I checked the Control Panel;it says it's working OK.

check the bios, make sure it is saying multiple hid or compliant system, if this doesnt help, a little trick is to plug in a usb mouse and sometimes the system finds the mouse again on reboot. if not call acer if the warranty is valid and get one of the fantastic btlynx engineers out to sort it, or check the warranty , eg back to base warranty, etc etc

My laptop turns on but the screen is black. What do I do to fix it?

Other answers have jumped to a hardware fault. Perhaps not incorrectly, sure. But I'd first make sure we're not dealing with a software issue, or any other "have you tried turning it off and back on again?" sort of things.First, and foremost, does your laptop have a "Display Off" button? I have a Sony Vaio which has one of these. It's a flush bezel button near the clamshell hinge. I have absolutely no fucking clue why it's there. But it is. The only thing I can think of is it's a "privacy" button...for when you can't quite hit the (x) close button on the browser window when your spouse walks in on you ogling (.)'s.Since you didn't post a picture I will assume that you mean the screen is entirely black. No faint glow, no nothing? In other words, it doesn't look even remotely like this [note the blinking cursor]:Have you plugged anything new into your laptop recently? A new USB device? A new external drive? Do you have a docking station? If you have a docking station, does it behave differently if on or off of it?Have you verified that your battery is charged, and that even if not, your power supply is providing proper charging to the battery when it's plugged in? My laptop has a little lightning-bolt LED that indicates the power supply is properly plugged in. Sometimes those stupid connectors can become loose -- or worse, crimped [kids knocking the thing about, etc.] -- so that they don't make a proper connection. I can't tell you how many times I've sat down with my laptop that had been "plugged in" for hours only to hit the power button, see it appear to go through its start-up groans, only to have it fizzle-out and not work shortly after.Do you have a recovery disc for the OS you have installed? What happens if you turn the power on with that in the laptop?Do you have a USB memory stick? If so, there are a bunch of different things to try here Boot and run Linux from a USB flash memory stick, even booting DOS from it.

I have a Acer Aspire 5517 and my synaptics touchpad won't work at all even after pressing FN+F7 any suggestion?

It is possible that it could be a hardware issue, but most likely all you will have to do is reinstall the synaptics touchpad driver. Use the link below and enter your machine type. If this does not resolve the issue, call acer, they will send you a box to ship it back for repair. Don't worry shipping and handling is free. Expect a six week turn around. No they won't give you a "loaner". That is not their fault. Only pro class equipment like a dell precision or latitude, or an hp pro mobile workstation has "guaranteed up time". As a side note, Dell has a one BUSINESS day turn around.

If you had a liquid spill, that is not covered by any warranty unless you have a accidental damage insurace upgrade. As mediocre as acers are, if there is a spill, it's not their fault.
