My Ankle Hurts To Walk On But Theres No Swelling Bruising Or Discoloration. What Could It Be

Is it possible to have an ankle/foot injury with no swelling/bruising?

I have pulled ligaments in my ankle a few times before and it seems to turn easily. I tripped over our cat last week and am having pain in the left side of my right ankle/foot. I have been walking on it since then but the pain keeps increasing and is also on the right side of my foot and in my toes. I have slight discoloration on the left side but haven't noticed much swelling. It hurts when I walk on it but also hurts when I am sitting and it was hard to get comfortable last night to fall asleep. Could there be something wrong with it since it happened a week ago? I thought by now it would feel better instead of worse.

Ankle pain but no swelling, bruising or discoloration?

Yesterday in my basketball game, I jumped in the air and came down on someone's foot and my right ankle rolled to the outside. Immediately when it happen I felt something pop or click and I was in instant pain. I got up and couldn't put any weight on it at all. I sat down and the trainer took off my shoe and sock. There was no swelling or bruising, just an extreme amount of pain whenever I move my ankle in any direction and/or stand on it. I'm hoping its nothing serious because of it not swelling up, but why would it hurt so bad even today whenever I move or stand on it but not be swollen at all? Please let me know what you think. The pain in all around the ankle but particularly around both ankle "balls" and the back of my ankle. But it all hurts depending on the way its rotated or stood on. Please help. Thank you.

How long does it take for swelling to subside after an ankle sprain?

I torn up an ankle and had chronic swelling for over a year, to minimize this remember RICE.
Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation.

Is it normal to have a sprained ankle with no swelling?

Depends on the “Grade” of the sprain. It’s certainly possible with grade 1. Grade 2/3 are less likely, due to the extent of the injury. It could also be a bad ‘bone bruise’ which will hurt quite a bit, for quite a while. (a bone bruise is when you hit a bone hard enough for fluid to build up within it. It’ll feel like a bad bruise without any skin discoloration)

Swollen, bruised, but no pain? Ankle.?

Normally I recommend ice, compression and elevation for the first 24-36 hours (Remember the initials I.C.E.) and then application of heat to move the swelling out of the joint. Of course, if it does not hurt at this point, nor is there much swelling then you are probably past the time where that will do any good. I would still wear compression to support the ankle and minimize any further problems. based on what you reported, it should be fine in about 2-3 days or so.

When a foot fracture is healing, is swelling without pain normal after 6 weeks?

It depends on what bone was broken, how it was treated ( cast, external fixation, pins, internal fixation, etc.). It is ultimately a question for an X-ray. If the bone(s) have healed and the swelling is aling the fracture line, that is called a panus, it is a normal part of healing. If it is global swelling with dark discoloration in the mist gravity dependent parts it might not be a good thing. Painless is good unless the fracture or repair damaged a nerve or you have a condition that impairs the ability of the nerves to sense pain. I would get an X-ray and see how the site is healing. Less use is better until you get the OK for partial (toe touch with crutches) or nonweightbearing or normal use. A failed healing of a fracture is always bad but a nonunion of a foot fracture is REALLY painful. Get seen, better to know for sure.

Foot/Ankle swelling out of no where?

So yesterday about an hour before my shift was up at work. I noticed my foot/ankle felt a little achy, so I looked at it and it was really swollen. And I hadn't hurt it and there is no spider bite. No discoloration. I went home and put it up and that helped a little but not much. Went to work again and it progressively got worse. Now my entire right foot, ankle and calf are swollen and starting to hurt. Again I elevated and it helped a little but I have been up not walking around just sitting at desk and it is swelling up again! Any ideas? suggestions?

It is kinda freakin me out.

Btw...I usually drink diet soda and recently switched to water. But was told to keep drinking water to help my foot. Im so confused because that is when my foot started this. What?!?!?!

Swollen, painful, but not bruised ankle?

Ok so my right ankle is swollen, puffy and very painful but there is no discoloration. I don't believe there was one particular incident that cause it, I think it was strained from over use. It has gotten puffy and painful before, but this morning when I woke up and got out of bed and stepped down, there was a very sharp, acute pain much worse than before. And the whole day its had a very sharp acute pain. It is worse when i try to walk on it, although I can seem to tolerate putting minimal weight one it; i've been "limping" all day. Everytime i step on it is when the acute sharp pain happens. I'm not a doctor but if I had to guess whats wrong I would imagine its a tendon tear. The thing is there is no discoloration at all. Are there any doctors that can give me some advise?
