My Baby Teeth Is Stuck

How can an adult still have baby teeth?

If your adult teeth are trapped in your mouth and unable to erupt (usually the I Tooth in the upper jaw-also known as the maxilla) they have not forced the baby teeth to come loose. When I worked in oral surgery as a dental asst. we did a lot of surgeries to add a bracket to these “floating” teeth so they could be forcibly pulled down and used, for the orthodontist. It was my first procedure I ever saw in OS and I almost passed out ;-) but I got over it after having to excuse myself a few times. It's a simple procedure and it's done because the I (or k9) tooth is very valuable.

Losing baby teeth at a late age?

i am 20 and i still have like 3 of my baby teeth. my dentist says it is completely normal. all it means is that there is probably no adult teeth underneath, and in my case, i will probably never get my wisdom teeth in so maybe you will have the same lucky fate? keep taking good care of your teeth, make sure you go to the dentist regularly as well, once i went for a regular check up and i came out with a filling because they took a routine x-ray and it turned out on of my teeth was rotting from the inside out, gross i know, but they caught it before it showed which was lucky. apparently it is common for baby teeth, they dont know why it happens though. and for the record, i would much rather have the dentist pull my teeth out than doing it myself, at least they can numb the area, and it also lowers the risk of infection. hope this has helped!!

Is it normal for a 14 year old to still have baby teeth?

Thanks to A2AThough, it was already discussed by previous answers. Having a baby teeth at the age of 14 is not good but it is normal and not unusual. We have different cases of tooth anomalies. But you can prevent this if you regularly bring your child to the dentist. That case is called over retention temporary tooth, removal of it should be intentional, you cannot wait for the baby tooth to self exfoliate, most cases of over retained baby tooth is that they are attached to the gums. Though, you can check of any mobility but it will not self exfoliate.Other case is the underlying permanent teeth are not erupted. Or maybe they are missing.Below is the chart of temporary tooth eruption and exfoliation/shedding.2nd molar is the last tooth to exfoliate/shed at age 10 to 12 years of age.Visit your dentist and have it check. Your dentist knows best!

Braces stuck to a baby tooth that fell out?

My daughters baby tooth came out but it's still attached to her braces. How do I remove the bracket from the wire? It's not the old kind with rubber bands and it's Friday afternoon so no dentist is open.

I can't floss my teeth because I got wax stuck in my braces?

You can take a tool such as a toothpick or toothbrush and "jam" the bristles or edge down in between the bracket. Usually a toothpick works. In general, get a small, dull, yet pointed, tool and put it in between the brackets.

Does getting baby teeth pulled hurt?

Well, I just got a baby tooth pulled this morning at the orthodontist when I was getting my braces put on, and it didn't hurt at all. I didn't even get any novacaine or anything. Thry just pulled it out. I didn't feel anything. I got it pulled for the same reason your getting yours done - the adult tooth is growing in in front of it. I don't know how the needle feels because like I said, I didn't even have ANY numbing agent whatsoever. If those baby teeth are already kind of loose they may just give you a local anesthetic which involves no needles at all. It's just a paste sort of like Orajel.
So no, it shouldn't hurt at all. That's what the novacaine is for, after all! Just relax, it's not that bad. If anything it's a relief because you're getting those teeth out of the way!
Hope I helped! And don't worry so much - it's not bad at all! :)

Should a root come out with a baby tooth?

No. As the permanent teeth develop in the jaw and grow, they apply pressure to the roots of the baby teeth above them. This pressure causes resorption of the root of the baby tooth. When a majority of the root has resorbed the crown of the tooth ( the part above the gums) becomes loose, and because there's no root to “anchor" the tooth into the jaw bone anymore, it comes out. This is why, when a baby tooth comes out. It has no root. It has resorted away. The same thing can happen to any tooth that has pressure applied to the root, even a permanent tooth. The reason it doesn't normally happen is because most permanent teeth don't have another tooth forming under them. However, an impacted wisdom tooth can lean against the root of the adjacent tooth and cause root resorption which can lead to the loss of that adjacent permanent tooth. This is one of the reasons we recommend that teenagers have their wisdom teeth removed to avoid potential damage to adjacent teeth.
