My Belly Button Piercing Is Swollen How Do I Heal It

Belly button piercing swollen!?

take a shot glass with sea salt and warm water and hold it on your belly for ten mins (swish it a little to get the puss and dead tissue out) twice a day. after the salt water rinse off with warm water and antibiotic soap (wash your hands with antibiotic soap first!!!). then put a little triple antibiotic on it with a q- tip and gently slide the bar up and down to get the meds in the hole. Always wash your hands with antibiotic soap before touching your piercing. If it doesn't improve after about 4 days of doing this seek advice from your doctor you might need antibiotics. New piercings are exciting but keep in mind it is a wound and needs a lot of care so it does not get infected or reject the barbell. Also be warned a belly ring is considered a deep tissue piercing and it takes about a year to heal fully so keep it clean. my advice is after a month of having it be sure to wash it in the shower every night with antibacterial soap and also after any swimming or contact with water. this will help insure it does not reject and also not get infected. Good luck =)

I caught my belly button piercing and now it's swollen?

First off, infections are cause by bacteria not trauma. It is AFFECTED/irritated. You snagged it, so now the body is trying to rush nutrients to the area to heal it. This causes swelling. However, if the skin inside the piercing tore, this can also cause problems. Get some wound wash saline (from CVS) or make your own (1/4 teaspoon of NON iodized sea salt per 8oz of distilled water) and warm it (put it in a newly washed glass) and put in microwave for 10-15 seconds or until warm. Invert the cup over the navel and lay/sit. This will cause a suction and let the saline/sea salt solution soak on the piercing for 5-10 minutes a couple times a day. This will soothe the area, naturally draw out anything that may have gotten into the affected area, and rush blood to the area which helps facilitate healing. If it gets worse, or doesn't get better see a piercer. Remember that infections are caused by bacteria. For instance, if you snag your piercing and the result is redness and swelling it is not INFECTED, it was AFFECTED by the trauma. However, with non-intact skin (e.g. a rip) bacteria can get into it and cause one.

My belly button piercing is swollen and sore?

I got my belly button pierced like 6 days ago, and by the second day it didn't hurt to bend over anymore, it wasn't swollen, and it felt perfectly fine! I could see a little but of the bar normally. But on the like 5th day, it started hurting again (feeling sore, tight, sensitive). It hurts to bend over or stretch out, and the piercing seems tighter than usual. I used to be able to have room to move it around and i could see some of the bar normally, but now I cant do either of those things! I can feel the bar alot more easily through my skin, it even seems to be pushed up a bit??. Even the slightest bump or brush to the piercing hurts. It feels really sore alot of the time and its bothering me. I dont know if its normal for this to happen or not. I have been doing the sea salt soaks 2-3 times a day and everything. I might just being over paranoid, idk. But if anyone has any advice on how to make these things go away, or if they know what the problem is, just help me out, thanks!!!
oh and also, I have a 4 day all day volleyball clinic/camp starting in 3 days... is it ok to play with my new piercing??? agh so paranoid.

Red, Tender, & Swollen belly button piercing. Normal?

The belly button does take quite a while to heal fully. It's normal for the piercing to be tender, red, and swollen. It's only been two days. Just continue to clean it properly :)

Try to leave it alone, except for when you are cleaning it. It will be much more irritated if you are pulling on the skin and moving it around. It should get better as the days go by. If it gets worse, you may want to see the piercer, but this sounds fairly standard.
It should be producing crusties and maybe a white/straw colored discharge soon. This isn't pus.

It may seem as though there isn't enough space, but that is because you are swollen. If you take 2-3 advil/ibuprofen, this will help with the pain AND act as an anti-inflammatory.

Just give it some time and clean it well :)

DON'T TAKE IT OUT.
