My Car Claxon Going On

How much is the Jimmy claxton baseball card worth?

1916 Zeenut Claxton card would be valued at about $7500. In 2005 Sotheby's valued a 1916 Zeenut Jimmy Claxton GAI 3 VG card at $7200.

On May 28, 1916, Claxton temporarily broke the professional baseball color line when he played one game for the Oakland Oaks of the Pacific Coast League. Claxton was introduced to the team owner by a part-Indian friend as a fellow member of an Oklahoma tribe. A candy company--the Zeenut candy company--quickly produced a baseball card for Claxton. Within a week, a friend of Claxton revealed that he had both African American and Native American ancestors, and was promptly fired. It would be nearly thirty more years before another black man played organized white baseball.

Can I change my car's horn (it sounds funny and I don't like that)?

You might need to install a bigger fuse for an after market air horn, which has a compressor to blow (actually) its horn(s). Electrical horns should be little problem. I see that my ’17 Outback has a separate circuit for each of the two horns. I was able to piggyback one of them with a two fuse adapter to also run my air horns. A tap on the horn pad operates the electrical horns only, a more polite request of another driver. A longer push starts the compressor along with the factory horns, a more urgent order.I find that with more SUVs on the road, my summer ride, a Miata, needs all the horns it can carry, as it’s basically invisible in traffic.

Can I sue a drunk driver for hitting my parked car?

Can I sue a drunk driver for hitting my parked car? Last night a guy hit my parked car and flipped his own. The cops came and hand cuffed him. It looked to be a DUI. The car isn't his, it's his girlfriends. Anyways my car may be totaled. Can I sue her for inconvenience and monetary losses. Since I now have to purchase a brand new car and open a new 5 loan. My car is worth 16000 on Kelley Blue Book and I still owe 7000 on my totaled car. What are my options. Please help!

Are car and motorcycle horns the same and can I use a car horn on a motorcycle (both are 12v horns)?

The answers are, respectively, sometimes and maybe. Motorcycles usually have pretty feeble little horns. I have seen car horns that weren't much better. Most cars have larger, more powerful horns that draw more current. These may be too large for the stock wiring to handle, as the horn is usually wired directly to the button, and has a pretty limited current capacity. Often when adding a stronger horn it's advisable to wire in a dedicated power line and connect it and the stock horn wiring to a relay.

How does honking your car horn and highbeaming vary across countries and cultures?

In the US, flashing your lights at oncoming traffic lets them know there is a speed trap ahead. Or that their headlights are off. Flashing your lights from behind means you want them to pull over, or at least get out of your way. Flashing your lights at someone in a parking lot or at an intersection means you are yielding the right of way to them, or letting them know there is no traffic coming the other way. Basically it's safe for them to do whatever it is they are trying to do - cross the intersection, back out of a parking space, move into your lane. Honking your horn usually means "wake the hell up and drive your car".

Is it possible to change the way your car horn sounds?

Older cars’ horns, both HONK (Chevy) and BEEP (VW bug) had an adjustment screw to tweek the vibrating system. Might clean it up, but won’t change it. If the horn is too loud, use some foam and duct tape to dampen it. If you really want a different sound (louder, funnier, diesel truck, etc, still pretty simple ~ just buy another one. You don’t need an exact bolt-on replacement, lots of aftermarket folks will describe and offer whatever you want.An example was an old pickup I owned ~ I bought a vacuum-powered air compressor, tank, hoses, and duel chrome horns mounted on the cab roof. I hauled on a dog leash chain inside to wake folks up… OK, I was younger…One caution if you’re going to a different electric horn ~ check how many wires go to the original, one or two. The systems are different, stick with what’s already there unless you are good with simple 12V wiring such as relays and grounds.

What is the purpose of the horn in cars?

To make way. Reduce risk. To alert people when we are going through areas with narrow roads(more common in developing nations). As kids would run and adults would suddenly step onto road without expecting any vehicles. In case of crowded areas with more people walking, crowd would give way on hearing horn.Signal the guy in the stationary vehicle ahead that there is a poor chap behind the wheel waiting after him.   Now-a-days, with windows and music in the cars, horns are not so effective for [3]. Instead, flashing lights can help.PS: Let me know if you've any specific part of the question you want me answered.

Why don't all cars honk the moment you lock them remotely?

I don't think any cars in the UK do this, so it seems to vary by country.I thought this was a good idea at first: When in the US, some rental cars I drove honk the second time, others honk and lock with one push. One time, I had finished filling up at a gas station and was walking over to the kiosk to pay. I locked the car with the fob while walking away and listening for the honk, marvelling at how nonchalant it must look to lock up the car without looking back. A small part of my mind pictured it like an action hero walking away from an explosion. The car honked, but it was also accompanied by a shriek. I turned around: unknown to me, a mother and two young kids had been crossing in front of my car as I was locking it, and the honk had surprised her, causing her to drop he groceries. To make it worse for me, she though she was in the wrong, and was saying sorry and hurriedly picking up her dropped things while her kids clung to her sides, confused about the sudden commotion. The situation got so awkward I decided to dive into the kiosk before anyone realized I was the driver of the car, and I spend extra-long in there to make sure she had left before I returned to my vehicle. To this day, when driving cars that uncontrollably honk, I always check the coast is clear before locking up to avoid unnecessarily panicking innocent bystanders, and I now prefer the civil and polite British cars that give what is the car-equivalent of a polite cough to let you know that the car is now secure, sir.
