My Car Just Ran Out Of Oil And Won

My car ran out of oil and wont start?

Ok Greg is wrong on oil change. sorry had to say it. Have ur oil changed ever 3000 miles please and a tune up around every 8000 for long term Relationship with ur car .. But the oil problem, yes it is very possible that your car will not start do to your crank shaft seized up in ur block. If it is an older car you should check your oil on a regular basis.

Car ran out of oil, put oil in but wont start now?

Car started making a horrible sounding rattle noise from te right hand side of the engine and I drove about half a mile to get it home. Car drove fine no lack of power, no oil light, no smoke from anywhere just the rattling noise.

When I got home I noticed the dipstick was showing no oil in the engine, I removed the top end of the engibe for a nosey and notice theres was still oil in there but not much.

I put a few litres of oil in it to fill it up but now it won't start! Tried bump and jump starting it but getting nothing. It's turning over as if its going to start but just doesn't do anything!

I know normally no oil means the engine would seize up but if it was seized would it still turn over like it is doing or is there another problem with it? I know the batterys not the best in it

Ran out of oil. Got new oil. Car still wont start?

99 Honda Civic Ex. I ran over parkinglot bumper. Continued to drive. 5 minutes later i look down and see me oil light is on. I automatically assumed i damaged my oil pan. RIGHT when i noticed the oil light the car began slowing down. No throttle response. so i quickly put it in neutral and let it cruise to a halt. I was hoping i did that soon enough before anything severe happen to the engine. There was no noise no explosion no smell no fumes no smoke. it jus slowed down and i put in neutral. RIGHT as it came to a hault the battery light came on wich confused me. I later found out the oil pan was not damaged the drain plug just came out. i put in a new drain plug and gave it oil. Now the oil light and battery light are still on and it wont start. it turns like its trying to start but it just wont start. whats going on? how does loss of oil lead to an electrical problem? (the battery is ONE WEEK old)

My car ran out of oil. put more in, wont start. help?

Last night my car ran out of oil, the oil light came on and the car turned off in a matter of seconds. i pushed it over into a parking lot, checked the oil, there was 0 in it. so i put two quarts in. tried starting it again and it sounded like it was going to start and just wouldnt. after a few tries it DID start but i was nervous and worried so i turned it off and let it sit over night. Tried to start it again this morning and again is sounded like it was going to start and just wouldnt catch. The battery isnt dead, the radio and lights work. I was also pumping the gas while trying to start it.
What could be wrong, help pleaseeee.

What should I do if my car runs out of oil?

When the oil sign light turns on in your car, it means that your car engine has reached the mínimum level of motor oil permisible to continue running and you must look for a complete oil change or to replenish with a quarter of motor oil just for keep it running for a while, for instance one week or something like that.Remember that mixing new motor oil with the existing one is not that recomendable, the chemical properties are not the same at that time, that’s why I’d recommend a complete change. Also, the right amount of motor oil is necessary to flush all over the engine and capable to reach all of the moving parts, protecting by coating with a thinner film until the last inner moving element inside your car’s engine. Remember to change the oil filter as well, everything should be new.If you let your car runs with the light on of motor oil for a long time, you run the risk to damage the inner moving parts that will eventually fail and get stuck. If this happens, we're talking of a major repair or a complete engine change.

Ran out of oil now my car wont start and now makes ticking noise?

Running a motor without oil can be extremely damaging to a car. However, sometimes when there is no oil on the dip stick, there may still be a small amount of oil in the pan. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TRYING TO RUN THE CAR IN THAT CONDITION. Wife did it and ruined her motor.

As for the VA guy, he was checking for ignition. I don't know why he did that, I wouldn't have done that. Knowing of low or no oil I wouldn't have attempted to start the motor again. I can't hear the ticking so I can't answer for sure what the problem is. I can only guess that if he left a spark wire off, the ticking you hear is ignition jumping to ground. That's not a serious problem, but one you will have to determine for sure.

You don't state whether the engine is turning over when you are trying to start it. If the engine IS turning, I think I may be right about the ignition. However, if it is NOT turning, then it could be a number of things. First suspect would be that the engine has finally seized. You need a new motor. OR it could be that you have run your battery down and there is not enough power to turn the engine over. IF THAT IS THE CASE; you will hear the solenoid tick. When the key is turned there is enough power to click the solenoid in, but the load the starter motor puts on the system drops the power down to where the solenoid can no longer hold itself in. It will click in and out rapidly.

You can try jump starting it. BUT BY ALL MEANS, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE OIL IN THE ENGINE FIRST. Now, why did I state something so stupidly obvious??? Because sometimes people don't have that much sense. I'm not suggesting this is you, no, rather, I don't want to be the idiot who told you to start it and didn't tell you to put oil in first. That kind of thing happens all the time. "I did what you said." I don't need to hear that again.

If the car starts then your problem is solved. May just be you need to charge the battery. One good way to test the battery is to turn the headlights on, turn the heater fan on high and to blow the horn. If the lights dim when you blow the horn, the battery is weak; may need to be recharged. If the lights stay on strong then the battery is good.

One last piece of advice, before you spend any money, fully diagnose the problem. Know what you are fixing. Otherwise you are just wasting your money.

Good luck to you.

My car has been out of oil for several months. Now the car won't start or turn over. What is the problem?

Your engine oil performs a number of tasks. First, it lubricates the engine's moving parts; second, it helps to cool the engine; third, it helps to keep the engine clean. As you ran the engine and ignored the check-oil light, the old oil was breaking down and since none was added, the remaining oil ran through the engine trying to do its usual work with increasingly lower amounts. Now it ran hot and dirty. Now the engine isn't getting lubricated; not cooled, even running hotter because the remaining oil is so hot; and not clean because the remaining oil is not only dirty but has thickened and is becoming sludge. So everything the oil is supposed to take care of, the last of the oil is causing. Eventually all that sludge can cause one of several things to happen; the overheated engine can get so hot it will weld itself and will prevent vital moving parts from moving; the main bearing will go out; it will cause a thrown rod. Of course, I am not a mechanic (I'm not an MD either but I know what happens if a person doesn't drink water), and I can't see the engine, but I'm laying odds you will be buying a new engine. I know I'm not the only one, so at the count of three,..1..2..3 in unison, “why didn't you check and add oil?”

When a car runs out oil and the car just shut off is the motor gone?

if you put a quirt of oil in all cinder and 5 quirts in the crank case and tarn the engine over with a socket on the crank shaft
with the spake plug out it will make a mess but it should free up the engine it will smock for a wile and put new plugs in 30mins because you will fould the plug and then in a tank of gas
