My Cat Has Not Come Home Since 9 When I Let Him Out Yesterday.i Have Contacted Services And I Had

I adopted a cat yesterday who is hiding under the bed, didn't use the litter pan, or drink any water all of last night. Is this normal? Will he be ok?

I hear this question a lot and recently our friends from the U.K. adopted a cat from a shelter near Nottingham. This was an abused cat that’s been previously returned twice to the shelter, but the lady of the couple fell in love with this all white beauty and took her home.Weeks went by and she would still hide under their bed all day long, barely coming out to eat and poop when they weren't around. Her husband had all but given up after a month and wanted to return her.We stepped in and recommended to try this “Scaredy Cat” herbal remedy distributed by a famous TV personality here in North America. I had previously used the same treatment on our of our 4 kitties that came down with stomatitis a couple of years ago while she was still a kitten. The antibiotics worked and she’s recovered from the inflammation in her mouth, but as a result she had gotten skittish from being chased to take her medication twice a day and also became rather depressed. Yep, cats can suffer from all the same mental and physical ailments that befall humans. So, we did 2 things, we tried this herbal remedy and also rescued another kitten her size from the shelter. She was always like “the middle child” ignored most of the time by her 2 older brothers one black & one ginger coloured cat, so we thought we’d make it an even 4 and get her a female playmate. Both have worked out incredibly well. She’s now the most cheeky & playful cat together with a slightly younger sister and she’s even buddied up to the 2 male cats in the household. The positive effects have so far kept any reoccurrences of stomatitis at bay and we have a happy clowder of 4.Going back to our friends in the U.K. after applying this herbal remedy to her coat and a couple of drops into her food, she started to gain confidence within days. After 2 weeks, (into month 2 and 3) she now sleeps with them in their bed and has become very playful and outgoing.Moral of the story is, do NOT give up. Ever! The more scared shelter cats are returned the more likely they will be euthanized. It’s not their fault some humans can’t understand them, but it requires patience & love to gain the trust of most pets, but especially felines. I fight a lot on social media to dispel myths and falsehoods about cat guardianship. Please know, there’s no such thing as a bad cat, only misunderstood ones and incompatible humans. Finally, always adopt, don’t shop!

How do I restore my accidentally deleted contacts from an Android phone?

Basically, when you use a android phone, you must be signed in to the phone using one of your google account. Google helps you backup and restore your contacts very easily just in few steps. Before, you might want to try restoring, I would suggest you to login to your gmail account on a PC and go to the "Contacts" Menu as shown in the figure below. You should find all your contacts in this window. Now go to your phone, follow the steps:1. Go to settings.2. Go to Accounts.3. Select Google.4. You should be able to see all your google accounts here. 5. Make sure you have the same account that holds your contacts is configured here. (Otherwise add it using "Add Account" option)6. Now you can synch all or any of your desired applications as below.7. Make sure you have the Contacts Sync button on as seen in the above pic.8. Now, press the 3 dots in the top of the above screen, and select Sync Now.9. You should be able to see all your missed contacts, are getting synched from your gmail account. Now, what if you do not have your contacts in your gmail account? If you have them in form of soft copy (any file) you can import it in to your gmail contacts as CSV file. and then sync them up easily to your mail. So, I recommend all of you to enable auto sync in your android device with your google account and make sure the contacts are synched by checking in the gmail contacts. Beacuse the contacts are sometimes invaluable to us. Let me know, if you want any more help in this.

I saw a feral cat. I started to feed it. Today she was rubbing against my legs and let me pet her. What does this mean? Does it mean she likes me ?

Other people have already told you that cats that will rub up against you and allow themselves to be touched are most likely abandoned pets, not actual ferals, and that they would easily become good pets. I’m going to go one step further. This is Gramercy. He was completely feral and lived under a shrubbery for two years. When I finally rescued him, he lived under a chair for two months, coming out only to eat and to spit at me. As you can see here, he’s calmed down, loves to sit on the bed and be with people, and is very affectionate. What I’m telling you is that even a feral cat can become a good companion. The two cats that you’ve described are already quite tame and welcoming of company. If you have literal room in your home, pick them up and take them in. Take them to the vet to be checked out, and have them edited with parts deleted, if it hasn’t already been done. You won’t be sorry, and will have excellent companions for many years. If for some reason you can’t keep them yourselves, consider taking them in for long enough to foster them until you can place them in permanent homes. If you can’t do that, other people have advised TNR. When a stray cat is neutered, generally, a notch is made in one of their ears. In this way, if they’re ever picked up by Animal Control, they know that the animal has been fixed, and they get bumped up on the adoptable line. Even if they’re never picked up, avoiding stray kittens is a very good thing, to put it mildly.Good luck to you and the cats. It sounds like you’ve made a couple of good friends.

Can cats sense when they are dying?

Yes, they can, usually. My cat Terrie was sick, mostly just old, and my mother told me she was probably going to die. How did my mom know? Terrie was laying on the floor in a corner of the basement. A place she never usually spent time. She didn't look comfortable either, she was sprawled out, not in the comfy cat way, but like she didn't have the energy to keep herself together. She also was refusing to eat or drink.Often, when cats know they're dying, they will stop eating or srinking, and they will find a place to go die alone. For those of you who want to know what happened to Terrie, here's that story. I skipped college and spent the whole day by her, determined that if she was going to die, she wouldn't die alone. I followed her from the basement to the bathroom upstairs. I put out a heating pad (like an electric blanket, but about 2ft by 2ft, it was one of those old ones that didn't shut off on its own) on the bathroom floor and mover her onto it. (I'd wrapped the heating pad in a plastic bag so if it got peed on it wouldn't short circuit, then wrapped it in a towel so it was comfy, then put it on top of the rug so it was squishy.) I spent all day sitting 5 feet from her while playing on my laptop, or petting her, or talking to her. That evening, my parents left to visit my sister in Ohio. They would be back Sunday evening, two days later. Before they left, they said their final good byes to Terrie. That weekend, I stayed next to Terrie constantly. I moved her to my parents' large bathroom at night, where I slept on the floor with her. I followed her around with food and water, trying to get her to drink or eat. And, finally, Saturday evening, I sent my parents a picture of Terrie eating food from her bowl. That picture told my mom that Terrie had decided to live a little longer. And she did. We finally had to put Terrie to sleep this past summer, almost 2.5 years after this story. That cat used every one of her nine lives. So basically, she'd decided she was dying/going to die and went to a secluded place to die, refusing food or water. And then I managed to change her mind. But the point is, she knew.

How likely is it to contract rabies from a cat scratch?

The rabies virus enters the body through a cut or scratch, or through mucous membranes (such as the lining of the mouth and eyes), and travels to the central nervous system.
When an infected animal bites another animal, the rabies virus is transmitted through the infected animal's saliva. Scratches by claws of rabid animals are also dangerous because these animals lick their claws/paws.

Chances of getting rabies is much higher from a bite than a scratch, but it is still possible and law requires that any animal that bites or scratches someone be quarantined (at the owner's expense) for 10 days to make sure they do not exibit any signs of the virus. The animal will receive a rabies vaccine after the 10 day quarantine. Rabies vaccines are required by law, so make sure you keep your cat up to date at all times, by protecting your cat....you are also protecting yourself and your family.

Even if you are ever unsure if your pet had already been vaccinated, it does not hurt to have the vaccine administered again.....better safe, that sorry!

My Son Was Biten By A Stray Kitten.?

When he went to the doc's office the doctor didn't see him. They just had the nurse to give him the shot. She didn't even look at the wound. Then they just called in a perscription for the antibiotics and that was it.
His arm is hurting from the shot but he said this morning that now the bite is puffy and hurting.
I will call to see if I can give him something for the pain.

This neigborhood is full of strays. Our cat is nuetered.
Mother's Day we discovered that a stray had had kittens underneath our home.
He was trying to gather them up for animal control. No one would take them and we cannot keep them.

Did Advantage flea treatment kill your cat too?

If the Advantage you used was purchased somewhere other than your vet, you have no recourse. Bayer only takes responsibility for product bought from a licensed vet. If the product you used was purchased through an online source, or a pet shop; Bayer has no liability in your cat's death. The reason being, Bayer cannot control the storage, shipping conditions, possible counterfeiting of product or anything else that could alter the formulation of their product, if it did not come directly from Bayer.
Advantage is actually the safest flea product out there. It is the only one that does not go into the bloodstream. Fleas don't have to bite the animal to be treated and killed. All they have to do is come into contact with the fur.
Advantage is also tested for ingestion toxicity, because we all know there are people out there that cannot follow directions and will put Advantage within reach of an animal's tongue, or will just squirt the liquid down the throat. Which I have actually seen happen.
Advantix, Revolution and the other flea products that treat for more than just fleas, have to enter the bloodstream in order to treat the other parasites. I don't know about anyone else, but I sure as heck won't put pesticides into my cat's bloodstream unless she HAS the parasites I need to treat. My cat had a SERIOUS reaction to Revolution. She almost died. I have used Advantage for years and not had a problem with it.

Edit: Did you have a necropsy done on your cat to PROVE that Advantage was indeed the cause of your cat's demise? Without a necropsy, you don't have a leg to stand on.
And I don't consider my post 'spam'. I spent years dispensing various flea products. Advantage is the safest one out there. Every other one had at least one animal that had a bad reaction, including my own cat. Some had multiple animals with bad reactions. Advantage never did, including the couple of animals whose owners gave it to them by making them drink it. Having worked as a CVT for 13 years, I got to see it all. I don't buy the drug companies propaganda. I come to my own conclusions based on my own experiences.
Again, without a necropsy, you don't have a leg to stand on.

Guilt about taking cat to shelter?

I adopted a cat from someone on craigslist two years ago, and loved him dearly ever since. However, I am disabled and have a companion/therapy dog who is expensive to upkeep and license on my disability check, so I never was able to take my cat to a vet. But he was already declawed in front (which I never liked but understood) and neutered and seemed healthy. But he occasionally left blood spots on my bedding, and had bouts when he would leave huge puddles of pee around the house. I have to move from my house to an apartment which allows only my dog. Also my cat play bit a lot, but never hard, just play. And I often have my three young grandchildren over. They played with him but always had to watch out for his play biting. Lately my cat was peeing large puddles on my carpet, or on throw rugs, then pawing it as if to bury it. I am moving in less than 30 days. I could not justify giving away a cat that peed and bit. But I felt this cat loved and trusted me and was just marking, Anyway I decided rather than re-home him - which his previous owner had done more than a few times before he came to me and it took a long time for this cat to come to love and trust me - - I took my cat to the Humane Society. All local no-kill shelters not only were full, but even their waiting lists were closed. Now I feel horrible guilt because I know my cat probably would be euthanized. I miss him so much and the guilt is overwhelming. I know I should have at least tried more to find him a home, but I asked everyone I knew and all my family and no one would, but even the shelter agreed that giving away a cat that peed and bit would not have been easy. And the last time I tried to give away a cat online (my adult son just deserted his cat here a few years ago) some nut job sent me a photo of a chopping block and an ax. I was horrified. You simply don't know what you are putting your pet into, and I felt at least the Humane Society MIGHT try to adopt him out although I also know it was probably not going to be the case. At least a way to know he was cared for humanely. I know many will disagree with what I did, and I can't stop beating myself up about it either - but I made the choice and now I am having a hard time with it. Just thought I would throw it out there and see what you thought. I am an animal lover, I love my pets deeply. But this guilt is terrible, I can't stop crying. Hope some of you will offer reasonable and not cruel feedback, good or bad. Thank you.
