My Cat Has Very Long Hair And Her Maine Gets Stuck In Her Mouth I Try To Trim It But What Else Can

Will a cat attack an intruder who threatens the owner?

It pretty much depends on the cat and the owner. It happens less often than it does with dogs but when it happens it impressive.I havent experienced being saved by a cat from a human intruder, but once I was on the sidewalk in front of my house ( back before I changed my policy of keeping cats indoors 24/7 ) and was greeting a very sociable and handsome male cat named Basil who belonged to a neighbor and who had wandered over to me. Just then another neighbor who was walking his large and aggressive dog lost control of the dog’s leash as it started running up the sidewalk towards Basil intending to make a chew toy out of him. Basil seemed frozen with fear and flattened himself against my legs. I prepared to try and get control of this large dog if I could before he injured one or both of us.From out of nowhere my female tortie cat came charging across the yard and onto the sidewalk and skidded to a stop sideways in front of the large dog , back arched and began swatting that dogs face rapid fire with claws out stretched. The dog lost all its swagger and aggression immediately and ran cowering and whimpering back to its owner. My cat who had a little crush on Basil turned to him to make sure he and I were okay. Basil turned away, seemingly embarrassed at having been rescued by a female. My cat, “Bunnie” was crestfallen. I enthusiastically praised and petted her though having been extremely impressed and proud of her actions and extreme bravery which probably saved Basil and me from injury and in Basil’s case from potential death.

My cat has very long hair and her maine gets stuck in her mouth, I try to trim it but what else can I do?

Gentle combing is the best as trimming rarely solves the problem,i know what you mean as we once had a cat with very thick long fur and her mouth used to get stuck in her mouth, what happened often was her mouth would get stuck in her chest fur as she attempted to groom herself,

she hates the brush and comb but at times we must do what they don't want to help them,so use a wide toothed cat comb its kinder and gentle,we used a baby hair brush to get our cat to be used to grooming,it helped as its so much more gentler that a cats brush,we then moved onto a cat brush,

don't trim it wont help it wont make it grow faster but it will appear thicker due to the blunt ends where its been trimmed growing back, creating the problem to be worse, gentle grooming is needed.

What are examples of cats showing care for their humans?

My cat Darnell has appointed himself manager of the feline department of this household, and he also sits on the board of household directors, alongside his two humans. These positions carry a weight of duty and responsibility, which he bears seriously and with good, kindly, grace. While his feline management role is a daily burden, his position as director only really comes into play when his male human is away and he has to step up and cover both roles.Usually, we shut all the cats downstairs during the night. This avoids the problem of having your head jumped on at 5 am by a cat that doesn’t belong to you. But when my boyfriend is away, I let them roam free. Why?Because when I’m home alone, Darnell guards me while I sleep and ensures that none of them wakes me. I know this for sure because sometimes I pretend to be asleep when I’m not so I can watch what’s going on. Darnell stays by my side all night, and if another cat looks like they have the intention of jumping on the bed or making some sort of nuisance of themselves he sits bolt upright and gives them a look. Or, if necessary, a hiss. No. Do not disturb the sleeping human. The other week I was exhausted after travelling and crashed out, and did not wake up until 11 am, of my own volition. Not one of them, at least to my knowledge, casually had a loud scratch by my ear or experimented with opening the drawer of my bedside table and emptying the contents onto the floor. No-one at all chewed my nose or attempted to groom my eyebrow. They couldn’t: Darnell was lying watchfully by my side, earnestly carrying out his solemn duty of protecting my sleep.Of course the minute I stirred, there were four cats immediately on my head demanding breakfast and claiming to be nearly dead with hunger and a violent need to be loved that they had dutifully repressed for the past 12 hours or so.This, Whitney, is the greatest love of all: a cat being polite about their breakfast because they don’t want to wake you.
