My Cat Is Really Sick

Cat really sick and not sure what to do?

So before everyone starts saying take her to a vet I already called and they said they cant get her in till monday even after I told them what was going on. And we dont have any open on the weekends so we are left to doing this on our own till monday. So now to what is going on. A few days ago our cat who is almost 2 started throwing up. Didnt think much about it since I have seen my dogs and others do it from eating or drinking to fast. But for her it just kept getting worse. Last night my husband said he noticed she was acting a little different and then to day i noticed when ever I picked her up or touched her belly she would cry. She has stopped drinking and eating. I have tryed can food and we have tried chicken broth and nothing. We finally had to feed her the broth but she cant seem to keep it down. Shes also spitting up think clear mucus like stuff and she acts like she is having a hard time getting anything down. I havent changed her food and she hasnt been outside in over a month. So no changes to the things she eats or does. We have 2 other cats and they both are ok. Im just looking for advice in what to do to get her through the weekend till monday when her appointment is. Thanks

What should I do if my cat is very sick?

I'm not understanding how there is no veterinary clinic near you? It's not possible to diagnose an illness on here. The cat needs to be brought to a vet immediately or a shelter if that is not possible. This could be anything from a treatable problem to a more severe illness. There are online veterinarians that, for a fee, will help you try to diagnose an illness. However that money is better spent at a veterinarian. Ps. Probably not the best idea to have pets if there is no veterinary hospital near you. Unless this is a feral colony you're caring for? Too much missing info. Please get to a vet or shelter right away.

How can my cat tell if I'm sick?

Oh cats know if you're sick all right. They also know if you’re anxious or depressed. They're very sensitive & empathetic creatures. My sweet kitty certainly knows & he does his uttermost to help me by cuddling up & purring & not leaving my side. It always works. But I'm not the only one he does this to, if other members of my family are in need of emotional support, he's right there to the rescue with the same results. He is such an amazing comfort, as will other cats be if they're given the chance. We humans need to be more in tune with our pets’ efforts to communicate with us. They do tell us things. We just need to be more observant & sensitive to them.Cats (& dogs & horses) read emotions & body language just the same as we do but are just more astute & sensitive AND they also have a much keener sense of smell. They can smell changes in the body that we can’t. Scientists have proven that dogs can detect cancer in humans long before we can. Laboratory tests have demonstrated that a dog’s sense of smell is so keen it can detect very early stage cancer in urine & when it’s been lab tested proved to be correct. Dogs have saved lives in this way.

How can I get my very sick cat to drink and eat?

My 10 yr old cat became very sick last week. She was diagnosed with a serious & relatively rare heart disease: arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia. She came home from the vet on Thurs night. Today is Sun. Her prognosis is not good, but it's possible that her condition can be managed for a time with medication, lasix to reduce fluid & enalapril to lower blood pressure so her heart doesn't have to work as hard. This is helping as her breathing seems ok, but she is not eating or drinking & of course is very lethargic. She drank some water on Thurs & maybe on Fri, but I have not seen her drink anything since then (today is Sun). She ate a very, very small amount on Thurs & Fri, but has not eaten since. I've tried a variety of wet foods, tuna, baby food. She may be dying and there may be no option other than putting her to sleep, but I know there is absolutely no hope if she doesn't get any food or water on top of a weak heart. Any tips for getting her to eat or drink? Thanks.

HELP! my 1 year old male cat is very sick!!!!!!?

You should have been able to smell the Pine Sol if he drank any of it. Your cat is ill and there is really nothing you can do on your own. Will he eat any solid cat food? no fish, but try turkey. Will he drink water? Try a syringe to get some fluids in him. If he did drink or eat something poisonous it can destroy vital organs if not taken care of ASAP. I wish you the best. Try a low cost clinic or the SPCA or another humane society with a clinic. The prices are extremely reasonable.

My cat is accidentally very sick. What should I do? I live away from the vet.

How does a cat get “accidentally” very sick? The suggestion of an accident suggests that there was some instance or action that might have been prevented to avoid the consequence.Trying to self medicate one's self is difficult, but to do so with an animal or small child it's impossible because they often can't communicate what happened prior that caused the condition. Meowing loudly, biting, restlessness and scratching can indicate the fact it might be more severve just an upset stomach and there is real pain involved. If its a poisoning then you must act quickly and you should gather as much info about the item that is the cause, composition or its msds data sheet from the Internet. There should be some do's and do not's that will give a hint of toxicity, but still unless you can be certain of the amount and exact items involved timing is critical. Get to the vet…I assume as a cat owner you know the difference between what hairball looks like vs. undigested food vs. other foreign items if you cat has vomitted something up. The presence of foreign items and/or BLOOD can be very serious as these will require prompt medical intervention. Get to the vet…That said. Not that it happens that often but I have 2 cats and ocassionally there are issues (weeks, maybe months apart) when a major hairball event happens and there is watery vomit and a fiberous ball of hair as the evidence. In the absence of blood or other non-food items it can be expected at some point if you own a cat. Attention to grooming if you cat is long haired can help lessen the frequency. If you were in their position would you want someone to simply GUESS and hope you will be OK?Observe not just their getting sick, but their current actions, aside from the vocal or restlessness mentioned it can turn the opposite with lethargy or non response, coma or death. Smaller bodies mean smaller dose/quantities consumed can have more radical effects that it would for a grown adult. And what's OK or irratating for humans might be toxic for them; chocolate, plants, soaps, etc.If you still have no clue, then you should start that long trip to the vet sooner, not later. Also as reader(s) pointed out, Please at least call a vet to see if they can offer some advice that you might try if you can't make it to their office.

My 5 yr. old Persian cat is really sick with a bad cold, loss of appetite, runny nose & stuffy as well.?

I took her to the vet Tuesday, got medicine, they kept her that day & gave her IV fluids, B12 shot and I brought her home with her medicine. She got better then is worse now because I can't get her medicine down her. Vet was closed today and it has snowed me in at home so I am scared she will die before I can get her help! She won't eat or drink and I can't get the medicine down her like he showed me. He showed me to hold her at the top of the neck or something but I can't figure out what he did. Does anyone know the best way to get a dropper of medicine down a cat? I got part of both medicines down her last night but it's supposed to be twice a day and she just lays hid under a bed and has not came out for the longest. She puts up such a fight when I try to give the medicine to her and it usually goes everywhere on her or me. Please help and tell me what else to do or any home remedies that are safe? He said it was a really bad cold.
