My Cat Is Throwing Up And Will Not Eat

My cat isn't eating, but is still throwing up. What could be wrong?

I know that this question is old. So I am kinda answering it for all those people who have the same problem and come up to Quora to find out what is wrong with their cats.T.a.k.e y.o.u.r c.a.t t.o t.h.e v.e.t.Take your cat to the vet immidiately. If your cat is not eating and throwing up it means there is something wrong with him/her. Allergy, poison, string, other thing s/he swallowed, organ failure, whatever. It does not matter when it is happening. Your cat is sick. A vet is a trained professional who can help your cat straight away. You and Quorians cannot.Cats are bad for drinking water and get their moisture from their vet food most of the time. If they are not eating and throwing up they can get dehydrated quite fast.Take your cat to the vet as soon as possible. If you have no money ask a charity or rescue to help you. Many times vets cut deals with people for the sake of the animal they treat. You can pay in instalments or whatever they ask for. If you have a pet you are going to have vet bills. Probably high ones. Sooner your cat sees the vet lesser the bill is going to be. Time can save life quality or life itself.

My cat will not eat, and is throwing up yellow liquid? (2)?

My cat will not eat, and is throwing up what looks like yellow liquid. We've taken him to the vet numerous times and the vet has told us that there is nothing wrong with him. The vet took an x-ray and gave him a shot to boost his appetite, but nothing else. We've tried taking him to other vets, but get the same response. This has been going on with him for 2 months now, and we've been force feeding him. We've tried switching his cat food, but nothing seems to appeal to him at all. So we've been force feeding him his canned cat food that he has always loved before. My family and I rescue animals, so this is really breaking my heart that I have not been able to do anything for him. I need help! As I have told you, the vets are of no help!

He drinks water perfectly and is not dehydrated. He is only three years old, and no he does not have any issue with the other animals, he is a very passive cat, he gets along with all the animals and used to play with them until he became sick, so yes of course we have had to keep him away from the other animals just in case they could get sick!

Why is my cat throwing up and wont eat?

he was throwing up yellow liquid, for two days, now today it was clear. his gums are still a little pink, but staring to fade. his skin on his back when you pull it is slow moving back in place. he didnt get into any chemicals or anything. and for the snotty people, today is labor day, so the past three days its been saturday, sunday, and labor day. and there is nobody open,so thanks.

Why does my cat keep throwing up after she eats her food?

Is she throwing up or just regurgitating her food?Regurgitation is pretty quick, within a couple of minutes and the whole lot comes back up, more or less looking the same as when it went down. Rescue cats do this a lot because they get used to having to eat really fast. If this is the case, stop feeding her so much in one go and don’t give it in a bowl. Spread her daily food into more frequent, smaller meals and spread it out on a large plate or tray so that she can’t shovel in huge mouthfuls. With regurgitation the cat will often look “surprised” and then try and eat it again.Being sick will involve partially digested food coming back up, perhaps with foam. It will not not look like biscuits or whatever you feed her, and the colour may have changed. If she is doing this and her behaviour has changed you need to take her to the vet and speed is of the essence. The cat will not try and eat it again.Regurgitation will not hurt your cat, but it won’t be pleasant for her, so try and adjust how you feed her.All cats throw up, as a cat owner you need to pay attention to what it looks like, what’s in it and what it smells like! Pay close attention to her behaviour, her eyes, her breath, and how she is sitting. Cats are very subtle creatures, especially when ill so you need to start recognising the signs.Good luck!

My cat keeps throwing up and has a watery eye?

Your cat needs to be seen by a veterinarian. The eye bothers me, but if she is not able to keep food down - she can go into liver failure. Cats who do not eat develop liver failure any where between 3-10 days from not eating. Most do not come back from this and need to be euthanized, or will cost you hundreds-thousands in hospitalization and stomach tubes to start eating again.

It is so easy to just take her to the vet and have an opinion. In a young cat, I would be worried about a foreign object that she has eaten that has caused an obstruction and now food will not go down. Also, if she keeps vomiting - she is likely dehydrated, which is going to make her sicker.

The eye is less serious, and likely is a secondary infection because her immune system is fighting with the vomiting.

Take her to you veterinary hospital or an emergency centre.

Cat is throwing up, won't eat. What's wrong?

My male cat was throwing up. He hasn't thrown up in the past 2 days, but he won't eat anything we give him. We've switched his food a couple of times. He's losing weight and acting very lethargic. I was reading a column of cat sicknesses and thought he might have this urinary problem that male cats get, but he doesn't throw up foam. He throws up his food.

Please don't respond if you don't know what is wrong. Or to tell me that I should see a vet. I'm looking for a way to solve the problem without having to see a vet because I have no money at all. I talked to a lot of vet's and the starting cost is $300. I don't have that right now.

Should I worry or should I just wait until my cat gets all better by himself.

My cat is throwing up foamy stuff. Some of it is yellow/white. What is this and what can I do?

Take it to the veterinarian... as in yesterday. As Catherine Spencer said it could be a hairball, but there are other (scarier) options. One of my cats got really sick, the same symptom, starting a bank holiday, I thought if it was hairball it would eventually go out. When I got my kitty to the vet she was almost dehydrated, and I was giving her water with a syringe (without needle, of course), but she vomited out more than I managed to make her drink in. So, make sure your cat is hydrated. My vet stressed it a lot.Second problem, if she has stopped eating it's a bad sign. As my vet emphasied cats should never fast, not even for 24 hours, it could damage their livers. Then, she would need high protein canned food to recover. Mine didn't like it, so I mixed it with water and I gave her with the syringe. As I found out, it is not normal for cats to vomit. The vet run blood-tests and x-rays to rule out some other disease, everything looked normal.Treatment:My kitty stayed half a day at the vet's hooked up to a drip administering intravenous fluids. She got two types of shots, one of them to make her stop vomiting, during five days in a row.The vet let me take her home with me, but we were visiting day in day out for almost a week.High protein canned food.Make her drink water.Recovery signs:When she drinks and eats by herself. We never got to know what was wrong, but she recovered just fine. My heart began to beat again, so happy ending for everyone.P.S. If you haven't got syringes, get some; they are very handy.

Cat throwing up green liquid, not eating or drinking. Help?

A few days ago, my cat started to throw up a clear foamy liquid . I was concerned, but we decided to wait another day or two before going to the vet to see if it would pass . It did not - she hadn't been eating or drinking, and the litter box was full of diarrhea . At this point we decided to take her to the vet, she was dehydrated, and thin . The vet took a blood test, and gave her IV fluids before sending her home with us . The next day (today), she seemed a little better - she was walking around a little more ( still no eating or drinking though ), until she started to throw up again . This time, it was a green, odorless liquid . We are waiting for the vet to give us a call ( they should be calling today or tomorrow at the latest ) but i'm wondering if feeding her with a syringe would help in the meantime.

Any ideas on what could be wrong with her? :(
