My Cat Is Very Skinny Help

Why is my persian cat so skinny?

When was the last time he saw a vet? Has he EVER seen one? Get the poor thing in for a checkup. If he's the average size of a Persian then yes - seven pounds is VERY thin. Male Persians average 10-12 pounds. Mine is 10.9. That poor cat!

edit: if he "sees a vet regularly" what has the vet said about his weight? I find it very odd that you'd post this concerned about your cat and yet you "regularly" go to the vet. What type of food are you feeding him? It could be you're feeding him a food that's very poor in nutrition. Switch to one with a higher percent of meat-based protein and little to no grain. And give him at least one of the smaller cans of cat food daily. It's never normal for a Persian to appear thin. They're very big boned cats with cobby bodies and a nice roundness to them.

I found a stray cat, really skinny. What could I feed him to help him gain weight?

A vet visit is the first step to helping the stray gain weight. Especially if he doesn't seem that interested in food (which can indicate a oral abnormality) Some cats might be skinny due to intestinal worms, or other medical conditions, and if he does have a condition, you might be feeding him all the right foods and he still won't get weight.

Once the vet has wormed him and given him a clean bill of health, they can also suggest food brands that can help him.

In the meantime, you can give him kitten food (it has a lot of fat protein and that'll help him fatten up), but mix it with wet food, and make sure he has plenty of water. All the best with the stray!

Is my cat to skinny - i have wormed her!!?

be sure she has all her shots and her check up not just the worm plm. esp if she is gonna be an outside cat she will need her shots for protection from getting sick. She doesn't drink water because she knows ull give her milk. milk can give her the runs and u wouldnt know because shes outside. with having the runs constently ..there is dehydration and with dehydration there can be the inablity to gain weight. Once in a while milk treat is ok like once in every one or two months. Other than that......... She is an outside cat shes more active and prolly has a high metabolism. My cat own is skinny but very tall and lean cat and he eats all the time too. He will just be a skinny cat. There are alot of fat cats out there that make normal healthy weight cats look underweight or sick when in fact they are healthy.

My 18 year old cat is really skinny - help?

My cat is eighteen years old, and he's really really skinny. We feed him regularly, he always has plenty of water and he eats fine. He usually eats dry food, but my mom started buying the canned stuff too; but I can feel his back bones and hip bones very well when I pet him. Is this a normal thing for a very old cat? Because he's acting fine, and he's been very skinny for quite some time. I'm just worried he'll die because of something stupid because we didn't take him to the vet.

My cat is limping and getting skinny.?

I notice my cat (6 yr old female) was limping on her left back leg. I took her to the vet and they did x-rays and the whole works and said nothing was broken or dislocated. She is still limping, even worse. I thought she may have pulled something or tore something. I have noticed that she is getting very skinny, but is eating as usual. I don't know if she has worms, or is throwing up, or if there is an underlying problem. I need some opinions. I don't want it to get to where it is to late to help her.

Help How to fatten my cat up after kittens!?

You really need to take her in to see the vet for that is usually a sign of illness. While you are there I would suggest scheduling her for a spay as well. Cats that are spayed live a longer and healthier life.
Do you realize that for every 1 person born, there are 7 puppies and kittens
born? At best, 1 will find a forever home.
And don't forget, that every "Free-to-good-home" litter takes homes away
from animals already at the shelter.

STOP letting your pets; or your friends, relatives or co-workers pets
contribute to the problem.
If you love animals, it is NOT ENOUGH to merely say "My pets are fixed".
Vow to educate and enable others to fix their pets too.
Spaying just 1 female dog or cat, will prevent 6 others from ending up in a
shelter the following year.
Please be part of the solution, NOT the problem!
Thank you. ^..^

Why is my cat so skinny, even though I feed her?

Get her some worm medicine!! Let me guess, she meows for food even right after she has eaten? She never stops eating?
it seems like there is a bottom less hole in her belly? Your kitty has worms!!
Another thing you will notice, is this: A cat that cleans itself often is a healthy cat!! If you notice that your cat doesnt lick it self clean often, It is beacuse he/she is sick! P.s, you will know if the medicine is working, because you will see them(dead) in the poo! They will be visibly clear!
Aslo, I dont know if you have children or not, but if you do! I suggest getting them some dewroming medicine at the pharmacy aswell! One of the main signs that your child has worms is VERY loud grinding of the teeth while they are sleeping!

My cat had kittens shes very skinny is that normal?

One of our stray cats had 5 kittens, 3 weeks ago now. She's thin as well, not bad, but a tad smaller then what she was before she had the kittens. As someone mentioned, all the food is going right to her body to produce the milk to feed the kittens. Make sure she's eating a lot, someone recommended to me to feed mom Purina One Kitten formula. It has a 40% protein content. I also give her some wet food, and some other stuff as well, and a vitamin. If you can, leave the food out for her to constantly eat when she wants. I can't do that, my other cats figure out a way to get to it and eat it.

Also, my vet says the kittens first check up should be at 6 weeks for the first round of shots and dewormer. And, since the kittens will most likely be on regular food by about 5-6 weeks, get an appt. scheduled for the mom to get fixed.

She should be cutting back a bit on how much the kittens are eating, or rather they should be sleeping more and eating a bigger meal as opposed to constantly eating. That should give her more time to get up and walk around some. Keep an eye on her leg, might need the vet to check that out if it's not better. Good luck!
