My Cat Makes Weird Noise When He Purrs

How do you make a cat purr noise?

Start breathing out of your mouth, like you are trying to see your breath in the winter. Do it over and over. Then push your tongue (Make sure it’s flat) against the front of the roof of your mouth. Like, right behind the back of your front teeth. Don’t touch it to the roof of your mouth, just take notice of how air is moving through there like an air channel now, then move your tongue closer to the roof of your mouth. It should automatically start to shudder. Do it lightly at first. Try it out. It should work. It may take several breaths. Don’t hyperventilate.

Why does my cat makes a weird sound, not a meow?

Thanks for the A2A.Unless your cat shows other signs of distress when they make this sound, weird motions with their heads, or neck, shivers, tremors, or something else very extraordinary - it’s just likely how your cat chooses to vocalize.Cats vocals to us, likely because we stand in for a parent, and indoor only cats most especially, they live a life of infantilization compared to wild cats or feral cats. They communicate with each other via body language, smell, and touch. So their vocalizations signal us, we missed something they were trying to say the normal way they communicate.Cats a very wide variety of sounds with their mouths open and closed. Is it normal for a cat to have a loud purr?

Yes, it is pretty normal… some cats have louder purrs than others. When I was a child, we had a cat named “Honda” (after the motorcycle) for that very reason. What does it mean? It means lucky you! Because cat purrs are therapeutic.See - Can Your Cat's Purr Heal? | Animal Wellness Magazine and (also addressing some other wonderful animal sounds) The Cat's Purr and Other Sounds that Heal.Examples -I have had a dear cat (Neo Blackadder) come place himself on my chest when I was experiencing grief and exhaustion. He was just purring away. The deep rumbling eased my aching heart, and left me feeling peaceful and loved. When we would get home after a long day’s work and plonk down on the sofa, two of our kitties (Huck and Sawyer) liked to knead the backs of our necks and shoulders with their front paws while purring vigorously. Ahh… cat massages! They love to share their good vibes.I answered - “Is it normal for a cat to have a loud purr? i have a kitten that has a loud purr, louder then the othersis this normal? he sounds like a motorcycle, does that just mean hes really happy and healthy or is it something else?”

Cat breathes strange & squeaks when she purrs. What do I do?

My cat seems to have a bit of a problem when she purrs. My cat purrs a lot because she generally is a happy cat and I love to pet her so much and make her happy. I love petting her, but when I pet her and she begins to purr, I notice she squeaks when she purrs and she has a weird breathing problem. Something on the side of her body moves up and down when she breaths as she's purring. It's like her body is working extra hard to make her breathe when she's purring. I'm scared she has a bad breathing problem and something's wrong with her respiratory system. I know I should really take her to a vet, but that costs a lot of money. I don't have a much cash, so I figure the next best place to go is here on Yahoo Answers. If you think you know what's wrong with my cat, feel free to post some help! Thanks!

Why is my cat making a vibrating noise when I pet it?

Purring is a calming mechanism. They do this when they are relaxed and happy but they also do it during times of excitement, fear, pain, and even dying. It is a regressive behavior, bringing them back to before birth and during nursing (hearing their mother’s purr).Your cat is enjoying your contact. Perhaps he/she likes your attention or maybe you’re petting in the spots the cat likes the most. If you want to make kitty really happy, you should look up how to give a cat a back and neck massage.
