My Cold Sore Swelling Won

How to make major cold sore swelling go down?

treatment: use apple cider vinegar on your cold sore after you get one. as you know, cold sores are a type of herpes soooooooooo, you should have your doctor write you a prescription for valtrex (acyclovir). IMMEDIATELY, when you feel one coming on, take your prescription as directed for a day. am, noon, 5:00 and before bedtime. You will be amazed how you can "head your cold sores off at the pass" so they won't get big. that is treating the symptom. if you are tired of getting cold sores you should treat the cause. Your ph is probably too acid. Try this great "miracle tea" concoction (that tastes great) in the am daily. In distilled cup of water (heated) use 2 tsp. fresh lemon, 2 tsp. apple cider vinegar (Bragg's brand from health food store) 2 tsp. honey (sage is my favorite) and 1 tsp. blackstrap molasses. You will find that by doing this daily ritual you will have the added benefit of rarely, if ever being sick. Provided you are sensible about eating healthy, excercising, etc. I am not an authority but have greatly benefitted by reading d.c. jarvis book titled "folk medicine" and others. Now I feel great and am so glad I discovered this easy and natural remedy.. God Bless YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

Cold sore swelling... ?

Note that:
Diarrhea can contribute to hemorrhoid formation because the bowel undergoes pressure strains due to the condition. Undue pressure on the veins that make up internal hemorrhoidal structures can worsen existing damage. Internal hemorrhoids are not visible, unless they proplapse (protrude) from the anus, either constantly or during a bowel movement. If this is the case, then you have a grade III or IV internal hemorrhoid. If the protrusion is on the anal verge or the area surrounding the anus, then its likely an external hemorrhoid. Reducing pressure from issues of diarrhea and constipation will help. Not straining during a bowel movement, not lifting heavy objects, not sitting for extended periods, all will help.

An external hemorrhoid is simply a vein located at the anal verge, the wall of which as weakened and protruded. Don't push on it, this will only increase pressure and worsen it. The body has to repair the vein wall and rebuild the integrity. This takes time, perhaps weeks, if all goes well. Use sitz baths and over-the-counter medications such as pads or creams to provide symptom relief in the interim. These won't solve the issue long term, but will give the tissue a better chance at self-healing.

Internal hemorrhoids are a different matter and require more intervention. Your best bet is to educate yourself about the condition, its causes and what options there are to treat it both short and long term. Don't ignore it though, hemorrhoids tend to become chronic in nature, lasting years or decades in some cases.

How to get Cold Sore Swelling to go down?

Use an ice pack on your lip for 10 to 15 minutes, three or four times a day and that should help. You should also talk to your doctor about a prescription for Valtrex. It was intended for genital herpes, but cold sores are caused by the same family of viruses, and Valtrex stops colds sores in their tracks. None of the other treatments come close to the effectiveness of Valtrex, not the ointment Zovirax, and certainly not Abreva or anything else. Ask your doctor about it to see if you would be a good candidate for this medication. My doctor prescribed it for me for cold sores about five years ago and after taking it only a couple of times I hardly ever get a cold sore any more, and before Valtrex I was having several attacks a year. On the rare occasions that I do get one now, it is gone almost immediately when I take the medication - in about a day. In the meantime, here are a few informative links.

I popped a cold sore and now my lip is swelling up!?

There are 3 treatments that work better than anything on the market including prescription. I know this from experience.

First of all, A cold sore is the herpes virus. It is a fat coated virus so its hard to attack and get rid of. The fact that you popped it means that any virus contained in the fluid could spread if you have any other open areas on your lips and make it a bigger infection, so try not to pop them.

To kill the virus, use a mixture of pure unrefined virgin coconut oil and pure tea tree oil 6 times a day as soon as you feel the tingle of a cold sore starting. These will go in and kill the virus. Coconut oil destroys the fatty protective layer around the virus and tea tree oil kills the virus. Then after its finished blistering and is in the healing stages, put pure shea butter on it as often as you need to to keep it hydrated so it doesnt crack and split your lip open. She butter heals like magic. Overnight you will see a drastic difference, but it has to be PURE shea butter. no chemicals added at all.

Since you already popped it, its now an open sore. do not put straight tea tree oil on it unless its just a teeny tiny bit mixed with shea butter or it will burn BAD. no physical damage but it will hurt like a bie-atch for about a minute so yeah, if you want a bit of extra virus killing power, you can add a drop but no more.

Keep it clean since it is open now. Do not use alcohol, it will dry out the skin and damage it further and burn as well. Do not use hydrogen peroxide as it kills new tissue growth and it will take way longer to heal.

Once you get a cold sore, you can bet you will get more. the virus never goes away i am sorry to say. Stress often triggers out breaks so try to take good care of your body and mind.

If you use these products as i said from the start of the tingly itchiness, your cold sore may never erupt at all and if it does its gone in 3 to 4 days.

All the best to you

Why isn't my cold sore going away?

Yesterday morning, I found a cold sore on my skin, and applied almost every home remedy possible. I REALLY want it gone, badly. So today, I woke up and it was still there! Now it's night time, and I've tried some of these again, but why isn't my cold sore gone?

I know this is a lot, and may sound ridiculous, but this is everything that I did:
- melted an ice cube onto the sore and then immediately applied rubbing alcohol onto it (i did this 4 or 5 times.)
- tried medications that are meant for it; Abreva doesn't work!
- put calamine lotion on it
- dabbed bleach on it with a q-tip
- applied a paste i made out of salt and water
- made a different paste, which was crushed up Benadryl on top of chapstick, and rubbed that onto the sore
- put mouthwash on it
- put toothpaste on it

I let all of these sit for about an hour; and nothing worked! Shouldn't it be gone by now?

I'm desperate. Can you tell me why it isn't gone, or give me some other remedies that you might know of? =[ Thanks!

Why won't my "cold sore" go away?

Cold sores are caused by the human herpes virus type 1, or HSV-1. This virus commonly infects the skin of the lip & perioral area. It usually presents with small little blisters that will eventually burst and ulcerate, leading to a small ulcer that heals in about 1 week and leaves no scar. If commonly recurrent, individuals can opt to receive prophylactic anti-virlas such as acyclovir, which will prevent or shorten the length of episodes. There is no cure for HSV and it can be recurrent because it will hide within the nervous system, in the trigeminal ganglion, and reactivate during periods of stress.

In your case, the fact that you've had a sore for that long may be due to different possibilities. The lesions may actually have been caused by HPV but you are not allowing them to fully heal; it's important not to interfere with the healing process because you can significantly delay this and potentially lead to scarring. It's best to leave it alone.

In spite of such efforts, lesions may last for a while because this is perhaps not HSV. Alternatively, this may be a bit of a bacterial infection; but which I'd think would be unlikely if no findings of pus, redness, swelling, etc are present. One bad scenario is the presence of HIV; AIDs patients are known to have HSV lesions continuously for years without healing. Clearly you need the opinion of a dermatologist; this is what they are best at; it should take them 2 mins to diagnose. Best of luck, but don't worry.

Cold sore and swollen face.?

Maybe your allergic to the abreva. You didn't say how much swelling there was. If it's just a little around the cold sore then it's probably just the cold sore. If more, then I wouldn't use abreva anymore.

I never use abreva on cold sores. It doesn't work for me. I just put to alcohol on it to dry it out, and then it eventually heals like a scab. You can try that, just don't peel it off because it could leave a scar.

Can Benadryl cure my lip swelling?

when I was 16 i got a cold sore on my bottom lip, but I didnt know at the time that that's what it was, I thought it was a pimple or something and i popped it. a few minutes later that side of my bottom lip got swelled and then by the end of the day the other side got swelled and i ended up w/ this swelled bottom lip. i was told that any cold sore lip treatment can do the trick so i had gotten Blistex and put it on my lip but I guess i was to late because the damage had already been done.

Now, my lip didnt swell big time or anything jsut a small swell but it still looks weird to me and I dont like it, I've learned to live with it and hide it and all.

Now I'm 20 and I got a similiar looking sore on my lip yesterday and I didnt pop it but I put on some blistex medication and when I woke up this morning it was gone. I had a doctor check up today and I told her about it and she told me there's a medication called Benadryl that can deal w/ the swelling. Now my question is can it heal my swelling from when I was 16 and bring my bottom lip to the size it was b4? Or is there anything I cant do? I'm not really allergic to anything either so is benadryl a good option or are there better ones?

Cold sores are traditionally known as fever blisters. They are basically swollen, small, red blisters that mainly sprout around the lips. They also form in the mouth and other parts of the face as well. These blisters are caused by HSV-1 and HSV-2 viruses. The prescribed medications are the same as those for treating a common cold. There are yet no such medications to fight these blisters particularly. So it is preferable to fall back on natural remedies to combat these problems.
