My Computer Can Not Find My Recording Device

Is there a recording device to record straight from my keyboard?

I'm not sure of your budget, but I can highly recommend the Boss BR600 portable multi track recorder for your requirements for around £200. I have just recorded a song my daughter composed on keyboard built up on separate tracks using the drums, bass guitar and piano sounds from the keyboard and I am amazed by the quality of the recording. When I researched recorders last year, the BR600 was the best bang per buck, however I don't know if there are any other better recorders out there now.
The recorder does far too many things for me to go through here, but Google and you will find glowing reviews. It has a 6.3mm mono and a 3.5mm stereo input so you will be able to connect your keyboard either from the headphone socket or phono outputs so long as you get the correct cable. (The stereo input gives the best results for keyboard). It is very good at recording electric guitar and also has a pair of microphones built in so you could use it to record all your instruments. It has USB connectivity so songs can be transferred to computer in WAV format. In fact you can mix down and master your recordings in the BR600 without using a computer at all - there are numerous Boss effects built in that sound really good.

If this is too expensive, you will find other recorders down to about £100, but I don't think they are anywhere near as good as the Boss for quality and ease of use.

Any way to transfer recordings from my ICD-B300 to my computer?

I just got a Sony ICD-B300 digital voice recorder from a friend, as a present. Does anyone know of any way to transfer the recordings to a computer? It doesn't seem to come with a USB port or cable, and I can't find any mention of such a function, neither in the manual or online. I want to use it, but really need that computer connectivity. Thanks.

None of my recording devices work. Help!?

For some reason, none of my recording devices on my computer work, after working fine the previous day. The last day my microphone worked. I disabled it and enabled my stereo Mix(im on Vista). Worked fine. But today, I've disabled and enabled all of them individually, and none of them are working now, there not giving a reading on the audio level. Any ideas?

How do I record music on my computer using my piano?

When you are recording from your Casio through a USB, you are recording in MIDI and not Audio. There is a huge difference here. First you need to make sure that you have the proper MIDI driver installed for your keyboard. Sometimes it is best to let Windows search for a plug and play compatible MIDI driver and install it for you. If Windows cannot find one, then you need to go and search for a drive for that Casio keyboard. Casio provides a down loadable wizard to help you find the correct driver for your keyboard - http://driverwhiz.com/drivers-en?brand=C... - Once that is installed and your computer recognizes your keyboard, the you need to go into the software you are recording into and configure that software to record MIDI. I am not familiar with either Reason or FL Studio except to say that when I looked at both of those programs when making the decision to buy recording software, and I selected Pro Tools LE instead because it is clearly the best recording software available. But, both of those programs can be configured to record from a MIDI device. So, you need to dig into the manual and see how to do that. I'm not sure what version of Reason you have but in the user's (or operator's) manual in the chapter on setup, I found this: "This chapter describes the settings you need to make before you can start using Reason. These are necessary in order to get any sounds from the program and to be able to play and control Reason via MIDI." So, that is a chapter you will need to read and understand if you want to get MIDI to work on your computer. I suspect that FL Studio has similar instructions for setting up MIDI operation.

How can you find a bug (listening or video device) in your house? What are some cheap ways to debug?

A “bug” is a listening device placed in a room or vehicle. One of a bug’s components is a microphone. The microphones in these devices are usually very small. Video cameras can also be a type of bug. Do you feel like you're being watched? Maybe you just want to make sure your privacy is protected. Here are some different ways to find a bug in your house.Method 1 - Initial SweepDo a physical search of the premises. This involves a slow, meticulous sweep of the room or building you suspect is wired.Listen as you walk the entire room quietly. Many small, motion-sensitive cameras make an almost inaudible click or buzz when they operate.Method 2 - Use DarknessTurn off the lights and look around for tiny red or green LED lights. Some microphones have "power on" indicator lights, and if the person who sets it up is careless they may fail to cover or deactivate this feature. While the lights are off, grab a flashlight and carefully examine all mirrors. These can be made transparent from one side so that a camera can see through, but they rely on the observer's side being darker than the area observed in order to keep the other side of the mirror reflective.Search for pinhole cameras in the dark. A pinhole camera might have a charge-coupled device (CCD) sitting behind a tiny opening in a wall or object.Method 3 - Use a Signal DetectorSearch for pinhole cameras in the dark. A pinhole camera might have a charge-coupled device (CCD) sitting behind a tiny opening in a wall or object.Use your cell phone to pick up an electromagnetic field. Place a call on your cell phone, then wave the device around where you think there might be a camera or microphone. If you can hear a clicking noise on the call, it means your phone might be interfering with an electromagnetic field.Source: (Wikihow)

How can I prevent someone from recording our conversation without searching them?

If you don't trust someone to the extent that you need to proactively disable the possibility of recording, then you should have reservations about talking to them in the first place.By if this is a legitimate concern, why wouldn't you confirm with the subject that they are not recording the conversation? Why don't you just ask them? But no, there is no technological way to disable recording devices. Instead you have to use age-old techniques to avoid being heard, such as whispering into each other's ear or conversing in a very noisy environment. Or both. And these techniques are just as intrusive as asking the person not to record the conversation.Be aware that many states (and countries) have two-party consent laws regarding the recording of conversations. Both you and the other person in conversation must give consent to be recorded or the attempt to make the recording is illegal. In the U.S. you are safe in: California, Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii (in general a one-party state, but requires two-party consent if the recording device is installed in a private place), Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana (requires notification only), Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Washington (also, notification is sufficient).

Is someone watching me through my computer?

Disabling the camera is not the solution only very small part of it.
Anything that has an Ip address and in connected to any network can be hacked. If is a wireless toy also can be hacked. Make sure you have strong authentication type and passwords. Those will help.
I don t know how technical are you but I can give you a simple example. go to your command prompt and type "netstat -a" to see all the open connections in your windows system.

If you see something you don t recognize, you can close the ports in the windows firewall. This don t always help because Malwares can open other ports and connect to your machine.

My suggestion, DONT DOWNLOAD ILEGAL SOFTWARE, MOVIES, MUSIC AND ANY OTHER DOCUMENTS FROM INTERNET. DONT INSERT USB MEDIA DEVICES OR USB CARDS FROM OTHER PEOPLE. HAVE YOUR ANTIVIRUS UPDATED ALL THE TIME. DONT VISIT WEBSITES THAT ARE NOT LEGIT (also be carefull with Google and Yahoo and Microsoft. I know they leave cookies on your browser to track your every action but that is not all ;) ).....I can suggest many other things but i am at work and i don t have much time now.

How do I prevent someone from recording my phone calls?

Honestly, this cannot be detected. Others can always use third device to complete the recording process. Have you seen the movie , the protagonist’s friend want to record protagonist’s girlfriend phone call, he uses computer to make the recording. Generally you cannot stop this process.Good luck.
