My Computer Is Going Really Slow Can You Help

My computer mouse slow help me?

are you using a wireless mouse?
maybe the battery is dying?

How do i make my computer run faster? lately its really been running slow?

try some of these:
1) make a notepad document and type mystring= 80000000 and save it as ram.vbe in desktop. close notepad and open the vbe file. it will make it faster.
2) keep deleting your internet history and temporary files .
3) keep your desktop wallpaper as center instead of stretch.
4) do not keep lots of fonts installed in your control panel.
5) do not keep lots of short cuts in desktop.

Why is my computer running so slow lately and why can't my son log on to Webkinz?

If your virus/spyware free, there are a couple things you can do get your computer working faster. If you using your computer for normal stuff and not gaming. You don't always need more RAM you just need to perform a few maintenance task.

First, if you haven't cleaned your registry in a while. This is necessary. Your registry holds all the information regarding updates, installs, un-installs etc. Each one of those events produces a key. That key needs your PC's resources and free space. So, if you clean your registry, you make more resources available for speed. Do a registry scan if you got more than 20 errors you should clean it.

2. Clear your Windows cache files, this is your temporary file. It can grow up to a large volume and stop your computer from using RAM properly. In a sense slow it down by preventing it from using free space. Here is how:

1. Quit Internet Explorer, Firefox, or any other web browser
2. Click Start, click "Control Panel", and then double-click "Internet Options".
3. On the General tab, click "Delete Files" under Temporary Internet Files.
4. In the Delete Files dialog box, click to select the "Delete all offline content" check box , and then click OK.
5. Click OK.

3. Manage your startups. Your excess CPU usage is due to too many programs running in the background. You can cut these to barebones by alter your msconfig. Here is how:

1. Open your Start menu.
2. Click Run
3. In the command screen type "msconfig.exe"
4. In the "system configuration utility",click either "service" or "startup" tab
5. Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using.
6. Click "OK"

Other great tip is increasing your virtual memory to simulate more RAM. This will give you a bit more resources for multiple program use or CPU heavy programs.
Hope this link helps. Shows you how to do everything step by step. You should get a least 60-120% more resources and speed
if you follow the tips.

What could make my computer go slower and get stuck?

1) not enough RAM, possibility: moderate. running lots of programs will slow your computer down as the RAM fills up in processing

2) video card too old/slow/small. Possibility: moderate. if your video card meets the min specs of the games, that's okay, but still not great. you really should have a vid card that meets and/or exceeds the RECOMMENDED specs of the game. Also, your drivers may be old. check windows updates to see if there's a new driver available under the hardware category (i think you have to do a customizable update to review the categories and choose this option).

3) Front Side Bus is too slow. Possibility: low. if your computer is older, your bus speeds are going to be lower. this means that games which rely on faster movement of data are going to run slower.

4) heating issues. Probability: low to moderate. a computer is made to operate at certain temperature ranges. exceeding these ranges is harmful to your computer and can slow it down over time. too much over heating will shut your computer down.

5) hard drive rotation speed too slow. Probability: low. the standard in hard drive rotation speed has been greater than 5400 rpm for a long time. chances are, you've got a 7200 rpm HD, but you might check just to make sure.

6) too much shiza on your comp, and too many programs running at the same time. Probability: medium to high. most people run ALOT of stuff on their computer at the same time without even knowing it. getting more RAM could help with this, or minimize the number of programs running in the background. Do you really need things like aim, yahoo, msn, skype, WMP, winamp, etc running in the background while you play a game? probably not, so exit those unneeded programs to maximize performance for programs you ARE using.

On top of checking these items, i would do the standard maintenance things like update your virus defs (you can't KNOW it's not a virus, new ones come out all the time) and scan your comp, Run a spyware detector/remover (i like adaware, personally), defrag your hard drive, error check the hard drive, and download/install windows updates (including optional updates). you should get in the habit of doing those simple tasks every one to two months, except windows updates, do that every month.

GOD, my computer runs extremely slow and programs lock up all the time now?

From time to time, over the past few years, Ad-Aware has been known to s.ck. That's why I choose to use Spybot Search & Destroy in combination with Ad-Aware.

Reboot (not hibernate or standby) if you haven't in a while. That's the first thing to do.

However, just running AVG and Ad-Aware isn't enough. You must update their virus definitions and spyware definitions respectively. If you don't update, then you might as well not run them, you're not any better off.

I've found that Spybot Search & Destroy works the best. You can download it here:

Don't forget to Check for Updates before you begin.

Use a program like Hijack This to eliminate all the extra crap that starts when Windows starts. You can safely get rid of MS Office's OSA.exe, Real player's update scheduler, Java's update scheduler, Quickbooks update agent, quicktime's update scheduler, etc.

You might also be experiencing a hardware problem with the system memory.
