My Computer Turns Everything Off But Not The Accualy Pc Its Self. Is It Over Heating

Computer won't turn back on after overheating?

Never use a vacuum cleaner to clean a computer, insides or out. The static electricity they produce can seriously do more harm than good. Everything from erasing ROM's to erasing or corrupting hard drive data.

If the temperature in the room was warm and humid chances are, the computers internal heat sensor kicked in with that message. You're not ****** like everyone seems to think so. You're only ***** if the computer didn't display an overheat message and shuts off.

Sounds to me like you have an AMD processor with possibly the Cool'n'Quiet technology and its drivers. I do believe the manual states if and when this happens, it lists a procedure to follow to get the computer back up and running. Give that a try. I've never had an overheat problem on my AMD, but in my manual it specifies to remove the onboard battery with a specific jumper setting restart it. It may be a different procedure for your specific model.

But its a good sign that the computer did display a message that it was overheated .. it shuts down to prevent damage.

Without knowledge of the condition of the room the computer was in, humidity factors, CPU, fan status and a bunch of other factors, I would not dare guess what may of caused it to overheat in such a short amount of time. But rest assured, seeing an overheat message on the screen is a good sign you're not ***** like a few seem to think.

Computer turned off by itself?

Usually that problem is associated with one of three things:
1. A virus
2. Overheating
3. Bad Power Supply

I think it's the power supply. I've replaced the power supply in my computer three times (my house is not grounded, so every time I have a surge, my power supply takes a hit) After a while of little surges and extended use, the power supply finds itself at a point when the power requested exceeds the power available and it will just simply shut off with no warning.

I would buy a cheap power supply slightly larger than the one you have now from geeks.com (cheapest around and they ship fast) and just try it out. If it's still turning off then at least you only wasted 15 bucks.

It's really easy to replace the power supply, a matter of a couple screws and replugging in cords, but you might want to have someone who knows more about it come and actually replace for you because there are a few components that even a little statict can render it useless.

How do I repair a computer that turns off by itself?

Most common cause of a computer turning itself off is overheating. Here’s how i personally remedy such a situation.Open it up and see if both the cooler and chassis fans are moving. They should also move really fluidly. They shouldn’t be dirty and dusty. All that serves to slow them up or make them cease causing overheating.Next, swap the SMPS. That will be the Switch Mode Power Supply unit with a similar rated one, output-wise. Dont connect the peripherals - hard an optical drives - initially. Switch on the PC and monitor.Problem persists, remove the front cover and see that the power on-off button is also well greased and not getting stuck in either the on or off poaitions. If it does get stuck, spray some good brand degreaser like the good old WD40.Problem should be sorted by now but if not, so not fret. Check the memory slots. If you have more than one memory modules, remove all then slot in just one. Power up the PC and see. Same problem, swap with another one and try again. Do it with all the DIMMS till you’re done.If no memory chip fires up the computer to the end, then we have the possible culprit as your motherboard. Now there are ways to also diagnose further and isolate the motherboard and the processor chip but, story for another day!

Dell Computer overheating?

Thats not that hot for the cpu really thats rather good. If it was 117C then you would have a problem actually you would have a fire.

Mine Idles at 34C and hits full load after a couple of hours and maxes at 55C, those are 93.2F and 131 F.

If you want to lower their temp try running a stress test for a number of hours like all day then let them cool overnight. This well take the thermal paste to the highest thermal conductivity and they should max a little lower then.

FYI I have seen many acers with 3.0 GHZ p4 running at 70C thats 158F they even had a side vent.

Soo you really don't have a problem.

Why does my computer keep reboothing itself?

From what I've read... all the answers so far are possible, it could be:

Your HDD is going out
System Overheating
You have a virus
Hardware conflicts
what I would do, is remove EVERYTHING, even delete the partition on your hdd... repartition, reformat, then install your OS.. but leave your internet unplugged.... so that you can install antivirus before your pc connects to the internet.. I've had my pc get a virus right after installation. install the antivirus, do a system scan, then connect your internet, and do all the updates for your antivirus, if it comes back clean again, and still reboots... I would think it'd be a hardware conflict, or bad hdd.... I have actually had my computer reboot when playing some memory intensive games.... I think my ram actually heats up, and causes the system to hang, and reboot.... so your memory actually COULD cause that too... but normally if you have bad memory, your pc just won't boot..

How long should you wait for an overheated computer?

Not good sounds like you messed up the mother board. Basically warmed up the solder to much and as it cooled down it formed little cracks threw out and now does not have a strong enough connection to start. wait a day or until you know its cool if it restarts shut it down and replace the thermal past on the CPU, get a better heat sink, and better fan. if it does not start again you will need to re-flow the board.

Laptop keeps turning itself off?

I have a Samsung R510 laptop, i've had it for a year and a bit now. It's turned itself off and won't turn back on, and I dont think it's from overheating because I waited a while and let it cool down and it's still not turning on. it's not out of battery because the laptop charger is plugged in and working fine, for some unknown reason its just turned itself off and wont turn back on, any ideas? thankyou
