Vet didn't give pain meds after spay?
Hi there! I have had dogs my whole life, but today my first dog of my own got spayed. My mom asked him to give her pain medication after the surgery but he didn't. He said she was a champ and did very well. He told us not to give her any food or water until the morning, and as per my request, he gave me pain medication to give to her... tomorrow morning (so she doesn't throw it up) However, I got her home at 3:30 and she was running from bed to bed, crying and obviously in pain. I took her out to pee and she was squatting and walking and squatting and walking and squatting, like she felt like her bladder was full but it wasn't and she was just in serious pain. Bringing her in (this was about 5) we were about to see if she'd want some ice chips, and she threw up. My mom said she would try later, and I had to leave for work. I got a call from my mom at 6:30 at work, telling me she was taking me to the emergency vet since she wouldn't stop throwing up and they were afraid she was going to get dehydrated. A pain injection, fluid injection, anti-nausea injection, antibiotics, and $200 later, she was feeling a little better and home. Two hundred dollars. Her spay costed that much. My mom said she's going to call the vet and complain tomorrow, but is there really anything she can do? Did your vet give your dog pain medication? The emergency vet told us she was vomiting because of how much pain she was in.
Do people who are shot in the head experience any pain before death?
As both a surgeon and long ago Federal Law Enforcement Agent I can tell you that depending on where the shot is you either feel nothing or you are in so much pain that it is unimaginable. If the shot severs the brain stem like you see with intra-oral shots. One happened this past week on Blue Bloods a bomber was going to push the button on a bomb the shot went directly into the mouth from MAYBE 25 feet in that case the person would be dead long before the body hit the ground with zero feeling of any kind (and doing it that way the hands OPEN on impact not close). However if a shot enters the side of the head or thru an ear I have seen perpetrators laying on the pavement writhing in pain for as long as it takes them to die. In the ER patients come in with head wounds EVERY weekend and some are in pain and some are not it all depends where the entry was and where the projectile ended up. Remember there is nothing in the cranium to sense pain feeling unlike your fingers or chest wall. Much brain surgery is done while the patient is totally awake. Once the skin flap is laid and the smell of bone cutting is over there is NO discomfort. Many surgeons do the skin flap and osteotomy under local just a large amount of Lidocaine or Marcaine or similar then the patient is left to talk and answer questions during the whole procedure since there is no pain perceptive sensors to be concerned about in the brain case. Why did God allow my cousin to die so young????
Two days ago my cousin of 23 years old who has had a difficult life involving drugs, alcohol, & depression killed himself. He was an amazing person and would do anything for anyone. He didn't have the best upbringing and a few months ago my aunt(his mom) got saved and she started talking to him about things and every now and then he'd go to church. He told her he hated himself and the way he was. He had talked about just killing himself b/c of his dislike for himself. He had gone to rehab and got out and we all thought he was doing better but I got a call 2 days ago and he drowned in a pond (the cops say there was no struggle) and I want to know WHY it is that God allowed him to die so young when there was a chance of him possibly getting saved and changing his life around? Im so depressed an sorrowful as well as the rest of my family and the funeral is in 2 days. My cousin was an amazing person with so much potential. I'll always ask myself "will I ever see him again?"
How soon can I drink alcohol after having my wisdom teeth out?
Some of you are really funny with your alcoholic bashing. I may be having some champaign at my cousin's wedding this weekend, but I don't want to risk dry sockets. But thanks for your Mr. Mackey like advice...."you shouldn't drink alcohol cuz alcohol his bad, mmm kay!"
Siberian Husky hit by car. How long until recovery?
My little cousin left the door open to the garage and my husky got out. Normally I would not worry to much because they are used to running around (we have 10 acres) and always come back. Then I get a call from someone telling me that they were coming out of a drive way they hit my dog going about 10 mph. I rushed over and found him laying in the snow bank on his haunches. I rushed him to the vet and he gave him an IV and steroids and some Valium. He could rotate his legs, ankles, etc told us that he did not think he had any fractures or broken bones. The first night was rough and he is on Rymidal for pain. He cannot walk at all and has been peeing on the towles we lay under him. He has not pooed yet. Now it is about 36 hours later after the accident and you can tell he is frustrated and wants to get up and every time he does, he screams in pain and sits back down when he tried to use his back leg. My questions is how long until he can walk? Even a little?
How long after one hydrocodone 10mg should i wait to take my suboxone?
ok, this is strange. i have been on suboxone for about a year now. i am visiting family out of town 200 miles away from home. back home, we have ther here to help program and i can get my suboxone filled anywhere, but here, we dont have that. my aunt had a serious car accident and my cousin was injured badly. so needless to say i cant just leave. they need me here, so i ran out of my suboxone. 3 days of withdrawl from suboxone had me sick as **** and in severe pain mentally and physically. well ive been nothing but a perfect patient with my docter, constantly going in for urine screenings and just never ******* up, always being in other words good as gold. so last night around 12am. my aunt gets up, im sick as **** and i am having serious withdrawls. she gives me a hydrocodone. only one, it was a 10 mg, w/d stopps. i dont feel high, i sleep great. no problems, saved me big time. well today i woke up, no w/d still. its been more than 12 hours and its running up to 14 hours. still feeling fine. my prescription comes in today, ill have my usual months supply of suboxone 8mg a day which i do not abuse and i take in a manner consistant with the docs recomendations, ive been doing ******* GREAT!!!!!. but now here is the thing, tonight at around 4 pm ill have my regular suboxone, now although im feeling fine i am afraid that if i take my medication it wil put me into precipitated w/d and thats somthing i dont want to deal with. my question, its been over a year sinse i last used hydrocodone or morphine, been taking suboxone wonderfully for about a year, took one hydrocodone 10mg over 12 hours ago and felt fine, not high, now im not going through the same w/d symptoms and ill have my medication soon, although im not feeling w/d would i go into precipitated w/d if i took my 8 mgs of suboxone tonight at around 4pm? again, i took one hydro at, around 12am, felt fine, i felt fine thismorning, ill have my medication tonight, if i take it will i get sick? its been over a year sinse i used hydrocodone and been doing great with my suboxone, now that im feeling fine im not so sure i will after taking suboxone. im wondering whats gonna. an answer would be greatly appriciated. thanks
