My Dachshund Constantly Escapes My Yard And Shes Gone

My dog keeps escaping the yard but she never used to, is she trying to run away?

She’s likely bored. Wants to see what’s on the other side of the fence, down the road, across the way; she wants to do more than smell the cat around the block- she wants to chase the cat around the block. Bored-bored-bored.Walk your dog, run your dog, play with your dog, train your dog- keep your dog occupied. Bones, treat-toys, chewables, chaseables. Give the dog things to do- and the dog won’t wonder and want to wander away so much.As to the new dog, well, how would you like it if she brought a new human home, and then yelled at you every time you tried to sniff him? Jealousy can be tough, and dogs can get jealous, but, again, the solution is to interact with your dog.Oh, and don’t leave the gate open now. You can’t trust her that way anymore. Small loss; dogs shouldn’t be out running around loose without their human.

If my dog escapes my yard and runs into my neighbor's yard, and I go into that neighbor's yard without obtaining permission to get my dog, does the neighbor have the legal right to shoot me and/or my dog for trespassing?

First, in many states, if a dog is running after another animal or a human being such that it looks to be at risk of doing harm, it can be shot. Such is the law in Pennsylvania. This is a general analysis of the law that you will find useful, I think. When Killing a Dog Is Legally Justified | Nolo.com So, under certain circumstances, it would be legally acceptable to shoot the dog. Small dogs are not immune from this. Under other circumstances, it would not. It would not be legal to shoot the dog just because it trespassed on someone's property. It would definitely not be legal to shoot you simply because you trespassed on someone's property. The only way it would be legal to shoot you would be if it was necessary under self defense and/or appropriate under stand your ground laws (in a state with such laws, which Florida does have.)Keep in mind, you have an obligation to keep your dog under control, so if it keeps running off your property, you need to fix that. Your neighbors might be jerks, but that doesn't mean you get to be a bad neighbor by letting your dog run around. Also, your dog could get hurt, lost, or yes, even shot. In addition, if you have a neighbor who is angry about your dog running on his property, the best way to defuse the situation is to keep your dog off his property. If the neighbor has threatened you, you can call the police, of course.

I have two cats and one escaped, it’s been over 24 hours and raining constantly. Will my cat come back?

Aw, if it's been raining the whole time, chances are your cat found a spot to shelter under and is too afraid to come out. Chances are also high that this spot is not too far away.I would go out with a blanket (best chance if there is a break in the rain, but even if it is still raining, I would try) and check every conceivable hiding spot in your yard. Do you have a porch? Low bushes? Dumpsters? Go around the perimeter of things like this and call for your kitty. If you're lucky, you will hear a pitiful answering meow and you can coax your cat out. If you can do that, wrap the blanket around the cat so it can't get scared and run again and make haste indoors. If you don't find the cat in your yard, gradually expand your search to include neighboring hiding spots. It is also possible that your cat took shelter in a neighbor's garage and was inadvertently trapped— you might want to ask them to check if they have had the door closed since your cat disappeared. Also call to check your local pound. If someone else did find your cat hiding in a garage or something, they might have called the pound to come pick up the kitty. But if you don't have any luck, just wait for the rain to stop and try again. You might just find your hungry kitty on your doorstep once it dries out a bit.Good luck!

Why is my akita trying to escape her outside kennel?

I adopted a female akita, 1 years old, 1.5 months ago.
I leave her in the kennel outside while im at school until 4:00. When I get home, i walk her and play with her until like, 8:00. and before school, i walk her for a half hour.

Why is she trying to get out? she gets plenty of attention before and after im at school.. i mean, not many families can be with their dog 24/7.. what can i do? i cant keep her in my house during the day.. we are trying to keep our house nice to move and sell it..

My dog ran away 2 hours ago! And she hasn't came back!?

Why are you on the computer?
Why weren't you after her the moment she got out?
Does she have dog tags? Microchip?
Has she ever been gone this long?

Jeeze, you know what it sounds like? It sound like your poor dog is not getting the excersise she needs. Obviously.

Call the local shelters and vets. Put out flyers. Someone may have thought she was cute, and took her home with them. Go around and ask people if they have seen your dog. Unfortunately you might have to start checking the sides of the roads for a dead dog. I hope not, though.

In Tennessee, is it legal to shoot a dog in your yard?

Depends. Why do you need to shoot a dog? What’s your motive?A). My neighbor’s dog is on my property, running around and ruining my lawn. I don’t know how to remove it from my yard, so I might as well try my new gun on it and teach my neighbors a lesson for not keeping it on a leash.B). My dog is sick, it’s going to die anyway, I might as well shoot it now.C). A dog has gone wild and is attacking me and my family on my property. There is no way possible to tell who’s it is, and if it has been given shots for any diseases, and how long it has gone like this. I don’t know what to do. I’m going to shoot it in the leg so he can’t chase us and then I will call animal control.D). Oh look, a dog! I wonder what might happen if I shoot it? It’s just for fun, I’m not hurting anybody!I hope you go with C. Believe it or not however, it’s quite surprising how many people have gone with any of the other choices. For the sake of your records, always pick what’s not going to impact you later on in life negatively.

How can I kep my dog from digging holes under my backyard fence? She keeps getting out.?

It really depends on how much you want to spend. What I did was to dig a ditch the size of the run I wanted, say you make a pen or run that is 12 X 12 you would dig a ditch that big fill with quik dry concrete (one section at a time) put the fence sections into the wet concrete and pound them in a little deeper with a hammer so they are stable and level. Most fence sections are a little longer at the ends that's what you are pounding into the ground for stability. You can use any kind of fence sections from Home Depot etc. but I used some rebar and sections of chain link fence. I know this sound very obvious but don't forget to have some sort of gate to make entry and exit easy. Even a pugnacious little Puggle can't dig through concrete or chew through chain link and she'll have her own little yard. A dog house filled with chew toys of her own where she can get out of the rain and sun or just hang out won't hurt either. I don't know if you watch the Dog Whisper but he teaches and I agree that the best way to get rid of all that energy is a long daily walk, you can bond with your pup , lose weight and get healthy at the same time. As for the chewing she is still a pup and is probably still teething. Have patience and Good luck!

How do I stop my Malamute from Escaping?

I have an Invisible Fence for my 2 Saint Bernards (very furry & fat) and its great. At first, I was having a hard time deciding between a physical fence and an electric one. Im so glad I decided on the Invisible. My female is crazy :) and I know she would escape from a regular fence. I dont have to worry about the kids leaving a gate open or anything. It takes some training and some dogs are easier than others. I can say that my male has NEVER gone thru since the training. My female took a little longer to train. And she did go thru once recently when I forgot to change her battery (my fault). She didnt hear the beep that she knew was supposed to be there and off to the creek she went. I know people say they dont work, but not in my case. My dogs are tempted everyday by other animals and people walking their dogs, but I know for sure they wont go. Just a suggestion.
