A lot of people seem to be suggesting destroying the phone and then giving it back to him. I strongly discourage that. You would be a) acknowledging that he owns it and has a right to it and b) then destroying what you’ve now admitted is his property.I was in a similar situation awhile back. I bought my girlfriend an iPhone and we split the cost of an iPad. When we broke up, I recognized that the iPhone was a gift. I asked her to pay for my half of the iPad (she never did).Bottom line is, unless he can prove that the phone was not a gift and that he was only letting you use it, he’s got a tough road ahead. The police are going to laugh at him. This isn’t criminal; you didn’t steal his property. At best, this is a civil matter and he could take you to small claims court. So he’s either ignorant or bluffing.If he’s bluffing, call his bluff. The police won’t do anything and might tell him to file a claim with small claims court. If that happens, wait for the summons, go to court, and argue that he gave it to you as a gift. You have a pretty good chance of winning that unless he has some kind of evidence that it wasn’t a gift.If he’s ignorant, ignore him. He’ll call the police and they’ll laugh and tell him to work it out.Either way, don’t destroy the phone and don’t give it back to him. He’s going to be hard pressed to prove it wasn’t a gift. Keep the phone and wait for him to actually do something tangible.If you don’t want to wait around, sell the phone and use the money to buy your own phone. He can still take you to court, but you can say you thought it was a gift and you wanted to upgrade.

you know, the ones that you can get at like walmart or gas stations? because when you buy them, it tells you how much money you have on them, not how many minutes or anything... Im asking this because Im currently unable to get to a tmobile store to pay my bill and dont have a credit card...Walmart is more than an hour away, and a tmobile store is more than 3 hours away.
Paying Ex's Cell Phone Bill?
I know this sounds crazy but my husband has been paying his ex wife's cell phone bill for years. It was an arrangement made partly because she's irresponsible and her phone kept getting disconnected and he couldn't reach her when he needed to talk about his kids. His youngest has just turned 18 and will be going to college near us in the fall. Maybe it's petty but it bothers me a little that she's on our plan. The only time I ever met her she bragged to everyone in the room that she uses my husband for money and sometimes uses child support to treat herself. So I admit it's not really about the money. It is about how I feel. I have kept my nose out of child support issues but since child support is no longer due would it be snotty for me to remind him to tell her she needs to get her own cell plan by fall?
My parents got me an ugly cellphone?
So my parents decided to get me a new cellphone, and I was really happy about it. Unfortunately, it was TOTALLY not the one I wanted! My dad took me to a T Mobile store earlier to check out some cellphones, and I found this one that was really cute. :) BUT, when I pointed it out to him, I think he thought I was pointing to the one next to it (which, by the way, was SUPER ugly). Later, when I asked him if he got my cellphone yet, he told me that he did buy me a cellphone, but then he started describing it a little more and I realized which phone he bought. I don't want to seem like a spoiled brat or anything, but I am pretty upset because he got me one of the boringest cellphones in the entire store... and it costed more than the one I originally wanted! How can I explain to my parents that they got me the wrong phone? I feel bad about this because they spent a bunch of money on it, and I don't even like the phone. Also, I'm going to be paying for the minutes on it... What a waste.

How would you feel? Parents have GPS on my phone and can track me constantly!?
You could simply turn the phone off. You're living in their house, they are presumably paying all your living costs and technically as long as they are paying the bills it is their phone they are tracking. It's bad that they don't seem to trust you but maybe the quickest way to fix that is to let them track you and see that you are acting in a trustworthy way.
