My Daughter Recently Had A Lice Situation. Would It Be Better To Cut Her Hair Shorter

Why do parents cut their little girls hair so short?

How in the world is that any concern of yours?

The child could have a hair type that just does not look good long. Depending on the child's age, it may be more that the hair hasn't grown out than that the parents cut it short. It may be easier to wash and fix. It may be a personal preference.

More likely than anything else, I think, is the possibility that the little girl cut her own hair (or another kid did it). When I was about four, a playmate and I cut our hair. I had my hair in pigtails that day, and the girl kind of shaped the haircut to shorten the pigtails. As long as it stayed in pigtails, it was fine, but that was the only way it could be fixed. When faced with having me in pigtails every day or cutting it all off and starting over completely, my mom chose the pigtails. I probably would have just cut the hair short.

But seriously, there is no reason why you need to feel this upset about girls with short hair. If you ever have a little girl, you get to have opinions about how she should wear her hair. Until then, find something real, that is your business, to have issues with.

Should I have my daughters haircut short?

short hair could be somewhat lovable. And a plus is that it fairly is greater trouble-free to form than long hair. :) i could take your daughter to Claire's and %. out a gaggle of lovable hairclips mutually. seek for butterfly clips, which appear like tiny jaw clips and paintings super with short hair--plus, they are continually regularly happening for her age. additionally, yet another regularly happening form now could be to apply bobby pins that have little jewels and flora linked. to help them stay in, spray them with somewhat hairspray in the past you slip them in her hair. If she has bangs, you need to use them to maintain them removed from her face. Headbands are additionally very regularly happening now--there are varieties that in fact clip into the hair so they'll stay positioned, and that they paintings nicely with any hair length. seek for those at Claire's, too--i've got considered somewhat some those there, and that they are elementary to apply yet somewhat lovable.

My Daughter Had Long Hair And I Chopped It All Of Into A Short Pixie. She s So Upset! It s Only Hair! What Should I Do?!?

I have a daughter and for the longest time, I ve not liked her long hair. I feel as if it s way too girly. Plus, I feel as if long hair is meant for older women, in their adult years.

The difference with short hair is that it expresses innocence. I feel as if short hair would fit better for a little girl as herself.

I also feel as if it s better to break gender norms, and cut her hair.

Friday when she came home from school I sat her down and told her that I was going to cut her hair. She was fine with it until I told her that it was going to be short. Moment I told her she got mad and said that she didn t want short hair.

I pulled out my scissors and took her to my bathroom.

By this time, she was crying her eyes out.

I told her to sit down and refused, until I threatened to punish her.

I took the scissors and cut it all the way up to her mid-back, shoulders, then chin. She was already broken down crying. I then told her I wasn t done at by the end her hair was like a boy s. Maybe even shorter. I think that it s adorable, but she says it s too short.

She needs to get over it. It cuts out the femininity and looks beautiful. I don t get it. It is only hair. Plus, I m her mother, I can do whatever I want to her hair.

Me and my husband agree that the short hair is nice. Plus, it s so much easier to maintain. Once again, she needs to get over it.

Should I let my daughter cut her hair?

Let me just say that I'm her mom, so please excuse the name. But anyways, about a month ago she had butt length hair and really wanted a cut, so I cut it halfway up her back. (We donate her hair btw) About a week ago she claimed she really wanted it to her shoulders. I don't really like the idea of her with short hair. But she kept asking me nicely so, eventually I did give in. The thing about her hair is that it poofs out when it's short, so I only cut it 2 inches below her shoulders. However she did get mad and said that there was really no difference in it. Tho she has spent a lot of time in her room lately, and I've noticed her hair seems an inch shorter everyday, for the past 2 days. (Its right at shoulders now, which is what she wanted) I have a feeling she's cutting it herself.

She probably thinks I won't notice it, maybe? But I do. Idk how, but her hair hasn't poofed yet. And I'm impressed how she's able to cut it evenly on her own. She's 15 btw. Should I just let her keep cutting on her own? Also would it damage her hair in any way by her cutting it? Thanks for any answers!

What should I do my daughter's hair?

I have 3 daughters, Lexxi, Dakota, and Veronica. Lexxi is 12, Dakota is 5, and Veronica is 15. About a week ago they had lice. Dakota and Lexxi got rid of them by just using the lice shampoo for a couple of days. But Veronica has really long hair. It goes to her mid back and from there to about her chin is DEAD. It's dry and it has so many split ends. We've gone to 3 doctors and they all said the lice might not want to leave because of the dead hair. But she doesn't want to cut it because she hates short hair. Her hair looks terrible and having lice makes it even worse. We have bought every lice shampoo in stores near us and even some online. She hasn't been to school since last Monday, so a week tomorrow. I just want to chop all her hair off and get her a wig but I don't want her to hate me. She scratches her head all the time. We have used home remedies, like mayo and vinegar but that just makes her cry. We went to a doctor and he said to cut off her dead hair and then see what happens. But Veronica won't cut her hair! She straightens it all the time saying its killing the lice. She walks around the house with either a shower cap or a bald cap (that she got for her Halloween costume because she was wearing a wig) on. Her father and I either want her to get a short haircut or shave her head and get her a wig and extensions and whatever she wants. She said that if she HAD to get a haircut she would get a short bob or boy haircut. Can you please give me advice about what to do with her hair? Please post pictures of short bobs or boy cuts or even actresses with shaved heads to get her inspiration. Of if you have ever had this problem tell me what you did to solve it. Thank you very much!

Be sure you are taking proper care of your hair to ward off lice. If you are doing this, you should not be getting lice frequently. My daughter has really curly hair and did not brush it every day so she had a really bad case about 4th grade. So I cut her hair very short and told her that if she did not keep her hair clean and brushed out, I would keep cutting it short. She wanted it to grow out so she kept it clean. She never got lice again, even though it was all over the school numerous times after that.Even though your step-mother was totally out of line, so were you this time. That won’t help. If you don’t react to her statements she might stop. Respect is a two way street.

Can you get head lice by cutting someone's hair that has lice?

Lice do not jump, they are not bugs, they are a parasite. I would recommend that you have someone check your head for you because it's a possibility that you might have them. (I would also let the client know that they have them, in a polite manner, of course.) Since you had your hands in their hair, anything you touched could have been contaminated including your hair. I would clean every utensil you used (et al shears, combs, clips, etc.) and clean your entire area (et al chair, table, towells, etc.) because the next person you use these things on can also get lice.

It's a huge ordeal when someone comes in with lice to a salon and that is why every head needs checked before any service is done.

MY 10 year old daughter has had lice 4 over a year what do I do???

Yeah, inform the preschool, otherwise the problem will never stop because the lice will just continue to circle around the kids. After you have got rid of the lice this time try using Tea Tree Oil to make sure they don`t come back. Tea Tree can help repel lice because it makes the child 'invisible' to them, where they don't think the child is human so therefore stay away from them. Here are 4 different head lice prevention methods with Tea Tree Oil: 1. Mix 10 drops of Tea Tree oil in with her shampoo. This will make her totally invisible to the lice as they no longer regard her as human. As transferring to anything other than a human spells certain death, they are not even willing to take the chance. 2. Put her hair up in a tight plait. Lice find it harder to get hold of hair that is well up and out of the way. Mist her hair with water in spray bottle and 10 drops of Tea Tree added. This will help to further repel them. 3. It is possible to repel them by simulating dirty hair as this makes it hard for the lice to move around or attach their eggs. Gel is one way to simulate a dirty environment without the hair actually being dirty. Mix in a few drops of Tea Tree oil. This will be a double whammy as the lice will not think she is human as well as it being impossible for them to move around or attach their eggs. 4..You can also get "leave in" conditioner which will do the same trick again. Add 10 drops of Tea Tree Oil and spray this over a tight plait every day. Feel free to check out the articles at the following sites for more advice. Good luck.

My sister has lice and i dont want it.?

My daughter had lice last year. We treated her once with a drug store treatment, like Nix or something, and then for a week we put a mixture of cooking oil and vinegar on her hair under a shower cap for an hour each evening, then washed it out. Just to be safe I did another drug store treatment after that. The drug store treatment was supposed to kill the eggs as well as the lice. As for the rest of the house, a louse or an egg can't live away from a human body for more than 24 hours, so we put a lot of what she owned in big garbage bags and left them all out in our garage for a week or so. We vacuumed her mattress and our couch and anywhere else that seemed like a likely hiding spot, and we treated everyone else in the family once with the store treatment even though none of us showed any signs of having lice.

I don't know how old your sister is, but we learned some other hints as well. You don't have to cut her hair off, but if she has long hair then she might want to put it in braids or a ponytail. In my daughter's class, they all hang their coats and hats up on hooks beside each other in a small, squished space. I took a supply of big garbage bags into the classroom and asked the teacher to have each child put his outside clothing in a garbage bag and then hang the garbage bag on his coat hook, so lice couldn't travel from coat to coat. They did this for a month or so and the lice didn't spread any further. This year we're trying the tea tree oil thing, hopefully it works, and also I cut down on the number of times my kids wash their hair because lice spread more easily to clean hair. If your sister spends time with her head touching other people's heads, the lice can spread just as easily with short hair as with long. If she had it twice in a month it might just have been some eggs that you missed the first time hatching and starting the cycle all over again, or it could be that her class is passing it back and forth between them. Either way, yuck, and good luck.
