My Doberman Is Racist

Is it okay to be racist to dogs?

Dogs…It is definitely not okay! How would you feel if someone was racist towards you or if a dog attacked you merely because you were black?!You must be careful, dogs are very intelligent and sensitive. They will probably find out but because they are usually so nice , they will burry the hurt feelings deep down and pretend they are okay..But you must seriously ask yourself this question… do you think it is okay to be racist just because they will not attack you? You see dogs are very understanding and only an asshole will hurt their feelings just because they are too nice to retaliate. If anything dogs are more loyal and more trustworthy than humans, they do not deserve to have a prick like you judging them for their color. Show some respect!

Are dog breeds racist?

First let’s define what “racist” really means, as the term is thrown around loosely these days. Racist means “prejudice against people of a different race than one’s own.” Then we have to define “race.” A race is a categorization of people into groups based on shared physical traits, ancestry, genetics and cultural commonalities. So there are three or four major races of humans Caucasian, Mongoloid, Negroid and Australoid (those are the terms used by physical anthropologists, who study these issues.) So “Hispanic” is not a race. “Muslim” is not a race. These are groups of people based on geographical or religious similarities, but not actually a race at all.So dog breeds are like a human racial group in that they share physical traits and ancestry and genetics. However, dogs are not people. So choosing one dog breed over another is a matter of choosing what dog is right for the situation. For example, if you want a guard dog, certain breeds are better than others. If you want a dog to hunt raccoons, you don’t want a Chihuahua. If you want a cuddly little friend dog to sit on your lap and be with you all the time, you don’t want a St. Bernard. Dog breeds have been created by humans to fill certain tasks that dogs can do and they are useful when choosing a dog because many of their behaviors and abilities are well-known and thus, your dog will have predictable traits. Hence, people want a particular breed for a particular reason—like poodles, which don’t shed and are smart and trainable, but still good watch dogs but not very aggressive in general, so less likely to bite the mailman. (Not to say a poodle won’t bite the mailman, but they aren’t Dobermans, either.) So in answer to your question, no, dog breeds aren’t “racist.”

Do Dobermans go well with other dog breeds, when raised as puppies together?

Yes and no.Dobermans, as a breed, are “known for” same-sex aggression between males. Usually that is only a problem when introducing a new intact male into the home of an intact male adult, but it is something to consider. In general, however, Dobermans are not know for being particularly dog-aggressive compared to many breeds and a properly trained and socialized Doberman should be fine living with most other dogs. Also, weird stuff happens (most of it bad) when you raise two puppies “together” regardless of breed. Please don’t do it - even in breeds known for bideability it can cause all sorts of problems! The rescue where I volunteer got in a beautiful pair of purebred (and fairly well-bred by appearances anyway) Labrador Retrievers like the ones above. “Bourbon” was the black male, “Chardonnay” was the yellow female. They were about two years old.The problem: they had been raised together. Due to being raised together from puppyhood, they hadn’t ever properly bonded to humans but instead to each other. Bourbon’s whole world revolved around Chardonnay and if they were separated he would scream and throw himself against things and go into a panic bordering on self-harm.But they couldn’t be kept together, either, Chardonnay had taken it upon herself to protect her more timid brother from the world - very atypically for her breed/gender and her temperament toward people she would viciously charge and try to bite any dog that came within about twenty feet of her brother. This habit even bled into her interactions with other dogs when Bourbon wasn’t present - she was not safe near them.It took weeks with a professional trainer to get these dogs to a point where they were adoptable - euthanasia for both due to the severity of both the anxiety and the aggression was seriously considered multiple times. They were both saveable, luckily, and now are happily adopted (into separate homes). But please don’t make more like them! Or like the pair of bonded setters, or the pair of bonded Old English Sheepdogs, or the pair of bonded Shelties, this is hardly an isolated incident… please raise one puppy at a time and teach them that you and not another dog needs to be the center of their universe!

Are white dobermans bad?

I would like to see how many people out there know a little more about White /Cream colored Dobermans...Has anyone had problems with them temperment wise? How about some good stories too!! I have a 5 month old male that is white, he was a rescue, He seems like the typical doberman,,hard headed and stubborn..just wondering what others thought about "Whites"

Why don’t police use Dobermans?

Dobermans are an extraordinary breed of dog. Top 3 intelligence and a fierce loyalty to their owner or handler.Originally bred as a guarding dog by a German tax collector he wanted a dog which was obedient, loyal, fearless and aloof. The last characteristic being key, I've laughed many times at how my Dobermans would simply ignore everything around them and focus exclusively on me. For hours. Not even a sausage could divert them. I could drop their leads at the entrance to a store, give them a single wait command and shop for 30 minutes. I could glance out to them and they were always in position, kids and other dogs would interact with them and they would just sit, eyes locked in the entrance to the store. This is both a blessing and a curse for a working dog, as a dog that is too inquisitive can become difficult if it isn't sufficiently stimulated, or if the dog needs to work with another handler it's loyalty to it's original owner can cause anxiety.Personally having grown up in SA where dogs perform a dual companionship and working role, I can't think of a better dog.The world record for tracking a scent is held by a south African Doberman that was considered too needy/attached to its handler. His name was Sauer. The Record for the Best Tracking Dog: His Breed May Surprise YouHe followed a scent trail 132 hours old. Think about that. I can't smell the leftover curry 24 hours later…Additionally he set the record for the longest tracking record, on foot for over 100 miles in a desert. 100 miles??!?Here are my two on a game farm in the western cape.I am aware of a handful of circumstances where Dobermans are still used but I understand it's fairly specialist. They jump higher than most dogs, their prey/pursuit drive is relentless and at heart they just want to be loved.Beautiful dogs.

Can a Doberman and Pitbull live together?

There are a few factors to consider here and there isn’t an easy yes or no answer.

Firstly dog aggression runs strongly in the American Pit Bull Terrier and you would need a dog with a low strength of this trait to tolerate the presence of, get along with or like the company of another dog. Problem is that would be atypical for the breed, you would not know what you had until it matured and things either were fine or stared to go wrong.

Even if they seemed fine together as adolescents into adults (how puppies behave is not a reliable indication of how the relationship will be as adults when the drives, characteristics, temperament and breed traits kick in), in the right circumstances something the other did could trigger dog aggression in the APBT, so would have to be kept separated if there was no-one there to supervised.

Secondly, in the Doberman same sex (MALE) aggression is a breed specific trait. Contrary to the opinion of some, you cannot train part of a dog’s genetic makeup out of a male Doberman or remove it surgically by having the dog castrated.

You may be lucky if you are considering purchasing two male puppies (double the workload with two puppies that need to be trained and socialized separately and more enjoyable and easier to focus on one pup for twelve months, getting a good foundation in place, before getting a second puppy I suggest), but it is more likely that when a male Doberman hits puberty, the relationship between two males will begin to deteriorate, ending up with one having to be found a new home.

Contact breeders who produce quality Dobermans, Doberman rescue and the Doberman breed club for advice. They know the breed inside out and, want it in the right hands and will all tell you the same thing, male/male is a bad idea and very unlikely to work out in the way a prospective owner of two male dogs wants.

Male/female is the best gender combination as adults when one dog is a Doberman.

Also contact the American Pit Bull Terrier Club I suggest and ask for their advice on a multi dog household. Breed Clubs are fonts of useful information and will give a balanced account, motivated by what is in the best interest of the breed.

Scared of "aggressive breeds" doberman rotts german shepards is it like racism?

No, in fact it is very smart to be cautious of dogs perceived to be aggressive. Humans have bred dogs so specifically that much of what is said about a breed is generally true. One should also be cautious of dogs as they are pack-minded and usually aligned to their "owner"...

There is nothing racist in these thoughts. Most of the identifiers come from where the dog originated.

You should research the names of some of these dogs and learn about their breeding histories. People are often very biased when talking about dogs and refuse to acknowledge potential dangers.

Go to wikipedia or somewhere.

Is it racist to name a dog 'Chief?'

Absolutely not. Not even if it refers to an Indian Chief, which is the only way I can imagine such a word being considered racist. I had a cat named “Chief”. He was only indirectly named after an Indian chief. He was actually named after the passenger train named the “Texas Chief”. The Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railroad named its main passenger trains “Chief”. There was also the “Chief”, the “Super Chief”, the “San Francisco Chief”, the “Kansas City Chief”, and perhaps another one or two. These trains were named “Chief” because of the several Indian reservations that were tourist attractions that the railroad ran through or near. The railroad also used Indian motifs in the train station architecture along its routes. If such usage of that word is ever considered racist, I’m going to have a real problem trying to determine which 7/8ths of me is the racist cad denigrating the 1/8th of me that is Cherokee by naming my cat “Chief”.

Is hating pit bulls racist?

to help you answer this question i thought i would show you some definitions of racist mean and different ways you can understand the contents in which the word racist is used!

-based on racial intolerance; "racist remarks".
-a person with a prejudiced belief that one race is superior to others.
-discriminatory especially on the basis of race or religion

this is my belief:
Racism has many different definitions. Historically, it has been defined as the belief that race is the primary determinant of human capacities, that a certain race is inherently superior or inferior to others, and/or that individuals should be treated differently according to their racial designation. Sometimes racism means beliefs, practices, and institutions that discriminate against people based on their perceived or ascribed race...

prejudice people will hate certain qualities about people without being racists, we are all prejudice. this is false because not every pit bull is the same so it would be impossible to be racists against pit bulls, its more prejudices people, and its like a stereotype that every pit bull is a fighter and dangerous, all on the perception of how one person feels! like a Jewish kid is greedy or a black person is most likely to kill you, or Mexicans are the hardest workers all of them have exceptions. and most importantly, pit bulls aren't a race its a breed!

hope i could help

How should we stop dog-racism against Pit Bulls?

I’ve watched numerous videos by Alex before. He seems like a nice person and a great dog owner and his dogs seem very well behaved. :-)To answer your question:Stop falling for ‘clickbait’ news headlines. If you stop giving them views they’ll stop the sensationalist reporting on ‘pitbull’ attacks. Most of the fear comes from the media being so one-sided.Support efforts to get shelters and websites to stop labeling dogs. Reports have shown that even experienced shelter works, dog behavioralists and vets are terrible at identifying dogs in general and especially ‘pitbull’ breeds. If there is any question about a dog’s breed it should simply be ‘Mixed Breed’ or ‘Breed Unknown.’Correct people who share incorrect information especially those that use www.dogbites.org as a source as it is extremely problematic as explained here. Or people who push the same myths such as the whole lock jaw, 900 pounds per square inch jaws, etc. Information doesn’t get corrected by us all holding our tongue.Encourage responsible ownership not breed specific legislation (BSL). Responsible ownership of all breeds which means licensing, mandatory spay/neuter and fines for misbehaving animals. Calgary did a fantastic job of dealing with problematic ownership which you can read about here. On the opposite end BSL has repeatedly been shown not to work because it only makes dangerous dogs an alluring taboo for the worst kind of owners and doesn’t offer struggling owners of non-banned breeds any help.Remember history and remind people too. These are not the first nor will they be the last breed of dog to be totally vilified and feared. German Shepherds, Dobermans and Rottweilers have all gone through this. It gives some context and some hope that there is an end to this nonsense and that breeds can get over a bad reputation and become beloved family pets again.
