My Dog Has Accidently Given Birth To A Puppy

Why did my dog gave birth to dead puppies?

My dog gave birth Saturday morning to 4 puppies but they were dead on my couch. I took her out while my husband went to check if she had sat on them or what had happen. She than gave birth to 2 more puppies that were in black sacks and dead also. We waited for an hour and no more puppies were born. We had not seen a placenta so we called the vet and took her in. The vet took x-rays and said she was not done. They gave her a shot of oxiton and said that there was one puppy for sure and something else they weren't sure what it was. Sunday afternoon she gave birth to another puppy but the puppy was not in a sack and did not have eyes. This lead us to believe it was a definite miscarriage. Monday and Tuesday she has began to tear up the couch were the first 4 puppies were born. We put her in kennel and she was scratch the bottom pan as if she was digging a whole. We are taking her out for walks very often, due to the dark brown discharge. We had to put her in a kennel because of the constant digging on things. ( we bought her kiddie pool to give birth in ) It has got to the point where we can't seven sleep at night due to her digging on the floors, kennel, rug, and tile everywhere. Why is she doing this?

Can a stray dog which has given birth to puppies and feeding them milk be affected with rabies and accidently bite someone?

No dog “accidentally” bites someone. They only do so when taunted and mistreated. They do so if they are threatened, cornered or hurt by humans. Rabies is very rare. Most stray dogs are fine. Rabies affected dogs have a haggard, sick appearance. They look thin, they lose their fur and have foam coming out of their mouths. If you see such dogs, contact your nearest animal rescue shelter. They’ll come to catch/treat/isolate the dog. Most stray dogs die from Distemper and Parvovirus which do not affect humans. If you love animals, then don’t be scared. Vaccinate them and save their life. They need two vaccines - DHPPi and Anti-Rabies.

Can a dog give birth twice in a week?

Okay so this is very odd and I was wondering if it s normal or has happened to anyone else.
So my mothers dog has had 1 successful litter of 2 puppies who grew up to be very healthy and are still around. She accidentally smothered her second which was only 1 pup. Then she had another litter only one pup again, we really don t know what happened to that one. And her lest one before this was kind of their fault. They took her to a pond and she gave birth to one there but no one noticed it so it didn t survive. We didn t even know she was pregnant this time, she just gained a lot of weight this month. She gave birth to a stillborn pup on our patio last week, we watched her to make sure there were no signs of any others coming and she was fine. But she still looked pregnant. Now we woke up this morning and she has 2 live, healthy puppies who look exactly like her, how is this even possible?

This just happend and i dont want to get in trouble, tell me if i my mom has to take him to the vet!

My dog keeps taking care of her dead puppy. She gave birth to three puppies. Two of them were born dead and the third died recently after a week. What can I do to dispose of the dead puppy without upsetting her?

It's best to remove the puppy as soon as possible. Some will argue this must be done ASAP, but others emphasize the importance of not removing it too quickly. If removed immediately, before she can grasp the fact that it is dead, taking it away may be very upsetting to her. Because mothers know (or have a rough idea of) how many puppies are in their litter, they tend to become extremely frantic when one is removed. (You will see--in both living and dead puppies--a mother "counts" her puppies by placing her nose to each, and when one goes missing she will search for it relentlessly). That being said, when/if she is able to grasp its death, she will mourn it. So unfortunately, this is going to be tough on her no matter what. But she can and will recover, more quickly than you might expect. So while this may be a bit disturbing for you, I recommend waiting a little while before taking the pup away might be the best option. If the mother or other pups seem ill in anyway, however, take the dead pup away and bring them to the vet ASAP.Do not let *too* much time pass, either. Parasites and other diseases that may have contributed to it's death can easily be passed to the mother and the other puppies. If too much of time has passed (over a day or two), to the point where the puppy begins to decay and she still insists on trying to care for it, then it is time to remove the puppy, despite the stress it may cause. She may follow it to the grave or search the house for it.*Opinions vary on this matter, but I personally believe that in this case, its best to try to remove it when she is not able to see you doing it.However, this is a severe and unlikely scenario...The most likely scenario is that she will soon realize it is dead (temperature, rigidity, scent, etc.), and when she does she will be more comfortable with you separating it from her. Also: call your vet to have the deceased puppy tested, to make sure it is not carrying a disease or anything else that could cause the rest of the litter harm. See web MD's section on Canine Herpes Virus for more info on diseases/illness & the importance of getting the litter tested. This website is also very helpful/provides general information on caring for new litters, and what to do when a puppy dies: Care of the Pregnant DogHope this helped!

Accidental inbreeding ?

It is very common to linebreed. The puppies will probably be just fine. The only downside is that if the mother has any genetic health issues the puppies have more a chance of inheriting those than if there was no linebreeding.
The mother dog will be fine. The puppies should be ok, but there is an added risk of inheriting any genetic weaknesses the mother has in her blood line.

Who cuts the umbilical cord after a dog giving birth?

If the breeder is a good one, then they will almost every time. The dam has the instincts to do it herself, but can accidentally catch other body parts (pups have lost toes and tail-tips), or can bite too close or tug too hard, causing a hernia in the pup. The dam can also introduce bacteria onto the stump.A good breeder will push as much blood as possible from the placenta toward the pup down the cord before cutting, will cut it right length, will tie it off to prevent excessive bleeding, and will dip the end into iodine or a similar solution to help prevent infection. You have to remember that dogs have large litters because only a few of the pups are “supposed” to survive in the wild. To get 100% litter survival takes more than nature, it takes a responsible human helping, too.

Can a dog suffocate its puppy?

Can a dog suffocate its puppy? Dog had a puppy today and has been trying to take care of it but I’ve really had to watch over her and make sure she keeps it warm and feeds it. She keeps leaving it so either I end up watching it for a while or I have to make her lie down and put the puppy with her so she can keep it warm. My worry is, she keeps lying on top of it and squishing it and I’m worried she is going to suffocate it. I’ve been keeping her and the baby by me all day so I can watch over them but I’m worried about tonight when I go to bed. Could she suffocate it? Would it be ok if I kept the baby away from her at night so this doesn’t happen? She doesn’t seem to worry if I take the baby away from her so I don’t think she would freak out or anything and then I could give it back to her as soon as I wake up. I’m just so worried that if I leave it with her tonight I’ll wake up and the puppy will have died. Any suggestions?

My dog is bleeding 4 weeks after birth?

My dog recently had a litter of puppies 4 all together. I had taken the puppies and mommy to the vet already and he had told me they are extremely healthy and the mother was as well. Shes been behaving the same, eating, playing and overall happy. I do notice she has blood coming away from her. Is this normal for her to be bleeding 4 weeks after giving birth? They do have another vet app in 2 weeks to get there shots another check up.
