My Dog Is 1years And He Bites For No Reason And It

My dog play bites too much?

Your dog seems to believe that you are another dog in his pack, and not necessarily the pack leader. You need to correct this pronto. If he does it to someone else, you and he could be in a world of trouble.

Yes, what he's doing IS play biting -- when he sticks his butt in the air like that, he's inviting you to play. The same thing when he nips you on the butt. And since he thinks HE'S in charge, you're supposed to respond to him.

First, STOP playing aggressive games (wrestling, tug of war, etc.) with him. Anytime he wins, it establishes HIS dominance over you as pack leader. That's the last thing you need.

Second, when he play bites, don't yell "owww". That doesn't mean anything in doggy language. Instead, yelp very loudly in a high pitched voice, just like a puppy would. In that way, you let him know that he's hurting you. Do this anytime his teeth touch you anywhere. Chances are, as soon as you do it, he'll start to lick your hand to make sure you're okay.

Do it consistently, and this bad habit will be history within a few days.

P.S. If you're just looking for a "chew" toy, get him a knuckle bone. They're cheap (about $5), good for the dog (removes tartar) and all dogs seem to love them.

Does my dog think he owns me or something?! (Only bites me)?

I have a mini schnauzer that I've had since 8 weeks. He used to have terrible aggression issues towards people and dogs until he got the snip at 1 year. After that he was a total angel. Now he is trained and goes to doggy day camp and loves people and everything.

But the problem is...he acts like he owns me. I in no way spoil him, all I give him is his dog food. I can't make a move without him moving, he follows me everywhere, if anyone touches me he starts growling and barking. If I'm laying down and my bf gets anywhere near me he will sit on my chest stopping him from touching me and will use all his paws to push him away, but he never threatens to bite.

Here's where it gets bad...I'm the only person he will bite. He only does it when he's scared, like if he knows he did something wrong. I don't hit him, but I will interrupt the behavior by touching him with one finger and send him to his crate. He always growls ferociously on his way in. He has bitten me 4 times, each was worse than the last. This time when he bit me, he actually dug his teeth into me and started thrashing his head, drawing blood (more than once!). I had to flip him on his side, hold his head down, and wait for him to totally calm down and sent him to his crate (took about 2 minutes). You wanna know why he bit me? Just because he was in my other dog's crate and I tried to get him to come out and go to bed in his.

After he got neutered, he was fine without incident. This behavior didn't start until he turned 2, and he's about to be 3. He is the sweetest dog ever and everyone calls him a mama's boy because he's always under me somewhere. If anyone else scares him, he cowers and hides behind me but if I scare him he bites. Please help idk what to do but he CANT keep biting me like this!

1 year old dog constantly itching and biting herself?

It could be a number of things, but I would suspect allergies. A few things:

1. It could be fleas. There is no way that you could thoroughly check a dog of her size and coat thickness for fleas with your own eyes... as soon as you start looking in one area, they run to another. Is she on a flea preventative? If not get her on one ASAP. Advantage is a good one.

2. Lamaderm is not a limited ingredient food. Dogs with allergies needs a limited ingredient food, with one *novel* protein source and one *novel* carbohydrate source, and NO other ingredients other than vitamins and minerals. Lamb and Rice were considered "novel" about 20 years ago, but not any longer -- they are now very common ingredients in dog food. Natural Balance makes a great line of limited ingredient kibbles, with novel protein and carbohydrates, for example Duck and Potato, and Venison and Sweet Potato. My dog suffers allergies and was on the Duck and Potato food for months and did wonderful on it.

3. Antibiotics are not going to help her allergies unless she is suffering a bacterial infection. And even then, if the underlying cause of infection is not determined and dealt with, the infection will only come back. On top of that, overuse of antibiotics wears on the immune system and the more they are used the less effective they become with each use. I would advise refusing antibiotics in the future unless your vet has determined that the dog is suffering a bacterial infection that is absolutely incurable without the use of antibiotics (many infections CAN be cured without them).

Good luck, I know it's no fun for the dog having allergies and it can be stressful trying to figure them out... the internet is a GREAT resource for helping with doggy skin issues.

How do I stop my 1 year old from biting?

My one year old son is starting to bite. He bites really hard, and for no reason at all. I've tried pinching his nose but that only makes him bite harder. He is starting daycare in a month and I know how strict they are on biter. (3 strikes and they are out) .. so I need to find an efective way to stop it. I've tried time out but hes too young to understand .. and sticking him in his room or crib only made him not want to sleep in there. PLEASE HELP!!

Can a person take anti rabies vaccine after 3 months of dog bite?

If the dog is infected with rabies, and the bite causes an open wound taking the vaccine after three months would almost certainly be too late. At the risk of rabies exposure it is essential to immediately clean the wound thoroughly with soap and water for 15 minutes, and apply povidone iodine or other solutions that can kill the virus, and then seek immediate healthcare for administration of rabies immunoglobulin and vaccination shots. The incubation time for rabies is normally 1–3 months. Incubation times of as short as 1 week or up to 1 year have however been described in the literature. Rabies is almost always fatal after onset of clinical symptoms.

I have an 11 year old Maltese terrier that has recently taken to biting people. How can I stop this behavior?

This may sound radical and cruel, but not if you do it correctly.First, be sure he’s not biting because he’s in pain.So if he’s not, then he sounds like he’s been allowed to get away with it. It takes only once. What would his mother do?Well she’d growl ferociously and grab him by the scruff of the neck.If you can do it without hurting him, which would be baaaad, grab him by the scruff of the neck, place him on his back and growl deep “NO!”I did this once to a dog who’d decided she wanted to be my boss. The second I flipped her over (not to injure!), she screamed like I’d hurt her.I admit it startled and scared me. Later I realized she was letting me know “uncle! Uncle!”
