My Dog Is Acting Ill And He Has A Lump On His Gum

My dogs gums are pale!?

Please help. I am now in complete panic mode! I was looking at my dog's gums ( don't know what caused me to check them ) And they are very pale- light pink. Usually they are like a purple black! But the thing is... she acts fine. She played around today, went on 4 walks and ate all the treats we've given her. She hasn't eaten yet but that's not unusual for her!

Please please please help!

Thanks

Vaccinated dog has lump by rear end?

To the previous person who answered. The "gum" test, isn't for pain. Its to check the blood levels. You can do the same test on yourself using your fingernails. Push down on them and you'll get the white spot that goes away quicly as well. For your dog it should take no longer than 3 seconds for the spot to go away completely.

Was your dog given the shot today? Sometimes after a shot a dog will get a vaccine lump. This is just the vaccine sitting there. It will spread out and disperse through the body, the lump will usually disappear within 24 hours. You can help the process by rubbing it.

Does your dog have any other symptoms? Lethargy, fever, vomiting etc? If he his otherwise acting himself, he should be fine.

Dogs and cats can't get hanta virus, so that's not what the vaccine was for. Can you give a list of the vaccines your dog was given?

The most common vaccine given in the back leg is the rabies vaccine. The back leg is the best spot for giving an intramuscular shot, which the rabies vaccine is. That would also fit with the 3 week booster.

Other vaccines can be given be intramuscular or subcutaneous (SQ). SQ simply means right under the skin. Your distemper, parvo, lepto, are given here. On your receipt or dogs records this will generally be shown as something like DHLPP.

If you are really concerned about this, your best bet is to call your vet and ask them about it.

How can i stop my dogs tumor from bleeding?

I have a 7 year old Pomeranian dog. Around 6 months ago, under its left leg (like the armpit of the leg), a big bump started growing. It stood there for about 1 week and then went away on its own. The dog was fine for the following three months and then it came back, only worse. It is really huge ad nasty looking ad seems to have spread a bit. The dog does not act ill or anything, he acts fine. No pain, no depression, is still eating and drining good.

My aunt took the Pom to a free clinic where donations pay for it. The vet told her that the dog had cancer and that it was a tumor and the options were:\

1. To have the leg cut off. This may help but chances are the tumor would come back
2. Just put the dog to sleep

He said option #1 would cost thousands of dollars, which I don't have and the donations of that place do not cover that much. #2 I think would not be right to do right now as the dog is acting fine, even though it hurts my feelings when I look under him and see the big tumor.

I told my aunt I will most probably have to put him to sleep when he shows the slightest sign of suffering. But not now - He is a happy fun loving dog. I dread having to do it, but I know I will have to eventually.

I have no idea how long he can live with this cancer. Is it 2 months? 6 months? 1 year? 5 years? I have no freakin idea.

Wow - back to my og question. The tumor is bleeding a lot sometimes and the dog leaves blood stains on my floor in my house. It wasn't a pleasant site to see my 2 year old soon come and wake me up with blood all over his hands. I have been keeping the dog outside because of this. He cries to come in because he is used of sleeping in the house. Any ideas how I can stop the bleeding?

My dogs gums are rotting away/teeth are hanging by a thread. I cannot afford to take him in. What do I do?

here is what you do, you surrender the dog ... can you imagine the pain this dog has been in for so long due to your neglect ... i personally don't care what your financial situation is, what you are doing is animal cruelty and you should be reported and fined for animal cruelty and banned from owning more pets in the future ... a dog is a responsibility and i get times are tough and vets are expensive but at a certain point you have to do the right thing for this dog ... go pawn your computer and that would be enough to get the dog started at the vet ... don't have a computer, cut off the internet service, now you have more money ... and if you can not afford to care for your "baby" (let's pray you are not responsible for caring for children too) you do the mature thing and surrender the dog ... the dog will most likely be put to sleep due to your neglect so enjoy living with that ... although you may have no problem living with that considering you have allowed your dog to live in constant pain ... home remedies, give me a break ...

My dog’s gums are pale but she acts and eats completely normal. She’s currently running around playing with kids? I can’t afford to go to the vet.

Go to your local pet store and pick up a dewormer that covers, hookworms, roundworms, tapeworms (if your dog has fleas or you’ve seen worms about it’s but or rice type looking thing wherever it lays), whipworms. Because your dog is playing normally and if he’s eating and drinking normally, that may be all it is. However, if you live in an area that has mosquitoes, it could also be a blood parasite called heartworms. It really is a good idea if you can’t afford the vet to get your dog on parasite preventatives. However, the only way to get your dog on heartworm preventative now, is to take your dog to the vet, ask them for a heartworm test and then get on it.Please avoid anything with ivermectin if you have a herding type of dog, collies, aussies, sheep dogs, etc. Look it up if you aren’t sure.Follow the instructions on the dewormer you get. It is essential to repeat the doses as many times as it says or your dog will get reinfested from the eggs. After, it’s a good idea to deworm them once a month to every two weeks if you see your dog’s gums getting pail again.Nexium is a good wormer for roundworms and hookworms. It’s pretty much the same thing as strongid which is what the vet uses for them. You can also get pyrantel pamoate from here. Pyrantel Pamoate Suspension 16 fl oz It’s also the same as Nexium and strongid. If you aren’t seeing any improvement in your dog after 3–4 treatments of the wormer or you see your dog getting worse, urinating or pooping, vomiting blood, then make sure to get him to the vet. The humane societies are typically cheaper and sometimes you can call them and ask where they are hosting a low-cost clinic. Some insurances for your dog at the veterinary clinics will also cover the treatment so long as you sign up with them. You can also try a gofundme but you may wish to disable the comments section to avoid all the hate speech.Good luck with your dog

What does it mean if your dog's gums turn black?

Do a capillary refill test by pressing on the gums with your finger. When you remove your finger, the gums should briefly be white but should return to their pink color within two seconds. The appearance of the gums is very informative. If the gums are blue, the dog lacks oxygen. If they are white, the dog has lost blood, either internally or externally. If the gums are purple or gray and there is a slow capillary refill, the dog is probably in shock. If they are bright red, she may be fighting a systemic infection or may have been exposed to a toxin. Some dogs have black-pigmented gums, which can make assessment difficult. For these dogs, you need to examine the pink tissue on the inside of the lower eyelid by gently pulling the eyelid down. In this case, you can only observe the color of the tissue — you can’t perform the capillary refill test — but colors mean the same thing in gums and inner eyelids.

My dog has white/pale gums ?

Pale or whitish gums means your dog is in big trouble and she needs to see the vet TODAY! If your vet is closed then find the nearest emergency clinic - call for directions - and get her there NOW! Do not wait any longer. She is anemic and needs help. You did not say how old she is but it could be any number of things - worms - in particularly hookworms that are microscopic, a slow bleed somewhere in the body (tumor, etc.) or some major problem like flea anemia. She may even need a blood transfusion.

Do not wait any longer - her life depends on getting help as soon as possible. Do the right thing for her.

How do you know if your dog's gums are unhealthy?

Bad breath is a big indication of gum disease, as is tooth loss and general mouth discomfort. You can tell if they’re in discomfort due to the fact that they will scratch at their mouths, potentially stop eating, and have bloody/swollen gums. Pay attention to the way your dog’s breath smells, though. That’s very important. If you have just brushed your dog’s teeth, but nothing changes in the way its breath smells, then there very well may be a problem. Giving a dog a little bit of coconut oil can work as a means by which to control oral bacteria, as well. So, if you’re managing its oral health as well as you can, but these symptoms persist, then I would recommend taking your dog to the vet and having them check its gums.

Why has my dog started lying in a small corner?

Sorry but I have to ask. When did you take your Dog to the Vet ?I am not saying you’re doing this, but people on Quora seem to think it’s a good idea to ask the public instead of asking the Vet, in person with your Dog, where the Vet ,who has gone to university for 8 plus years, is able to examine your Dog.Did you know that Dogs that have been hit by a car, will try and find a Quiet, Dark Hole or some other shelter to curl up, and in terrible pain, succumb to their injuries? Now, does this sound remotely like your Dog laying in a small corner. Dogs that have abscessed teeth lay in pain, while heads of the household are oblivious of the Dogs condition. They believe that a Dog Visit to the Vet is for their shots. No Pro-Active Visits , just the one visit and then, and only when Their Dog has been hurt by an accident. Meanwhile your Dog can have a multitude of diseases. My Dogs go to the Vet 3–4 times a year because when I notice one of my Dogs aren’t acting normal, or they have a big Lump, or whatever, it’s Vet Time. This is how I discovered one of my Fur Babies had Breast Cancer. One of the other Dogs had Diabetes, or another one had a growth that wrapped itself around the esophagus and was slowly constricting the breathing tube. Or the one that had Breast Cancer just came back from teeth cleaning Friday(Two Days Ago) minus a Molar that had become infected !Take Your Dog To A Vet! Please!
