My Dog Is Acting Very Strange Help

My dog is acting very strange and has diarrhea?

Any one of several things could be causing the diarrhea. Try to limit what your dog eats until morning. Try to get him to drink as much water as you can and get him to rest. He may have a virus, parasite, or gotten into something toxic. If you notice any hyper-salivation, if your dog is drooling a lot you may not think its drooling but you will notice that his mouth, chest and possibly front paws are wet, if you notice and poop that is liquid not just pudding consistency, any vomit, any blood in vomit, bloody stools or severe lethargy take him to the vet now.

If his mood seems at least mostly normal and it is only pudding consistency diarrhea you can likely wait until the morning. You know your dog best. Trust your instincts. If you feel that the situation is getting worse or you notice additional symptoms take him in right away. If you really aren't sure then call your local 24-hour emergency vet hospital. Ask to speak to the doctor on call and explain the situation - they will be able to advise you if you should bring him in or if it can wait until morning.

If he ingested a toxin you will notice nausea, which will likely cause hyper salivation or vomiting and increased lethargy. If you even suspect that it may have been an ingested toxin like a toxic weed, onions, chocolate, household chemicals etc.. definitely take him in.

If you think it may be stress because of the fireworks or some sort of parasite or worms then it can likely wait until morning.

I hope your pup is feeling better soon. Good luck!

My dog is acting strange after being spayed.?

She may be in discomort from her spay (her ovaries and uterus were removed, not part of her vagina). If the asprin doesnt seem to help, ask your vet for something stronger. You can also try a warm compress on her incision site. It all depends on the dog's personal pain threshold as to when she'll get over it, some never even notice, others are in pain for the first 24-48 hours. If she is still eating and drinking, no vomiting or diarrhea, and her incision doesnt look inflamed or infected, I wouldnt be too concerned. Make sure she is not licking or scratching at the incision, and it would be best to keep her crated or confined to limit movement.

My dog is acting very strange...please help?

I would watch her and comfort her for now. If she gets any worse, shows signs of labored breathing, or gets a temp ( should be around 101) I would bring her in. Min pins can also be prone to bloat which can be fatal and needs immediate care. Did she eat A lot of food (hers, yours, or treats ) then drink a lot or get really hyper right after. Too much food water and activity can cause bloat which then leads to them being lethargic and showing stomach pain. Large chested dogs are the most prone and even tho min pins are small they are still big chested so I would watch for this If you think it is bloat, an allergic reaction, or she shows pain and fever or hard breathing I would take her, also watch her walking if she is just hesitant fine but if she is really of balance something neurological could be going on. Some places will work out payments with you. Good Luck I know it can be scary when your pets not acting right, and I know money is tight right now for many but sometimes the cost just needs to be spent. Try to judge as if you had her symptoms would you go for treatment now or wait. If symptoms aren't to bad wat a little while if they are time is important. Hope she is ok.

What can I do if my dog is acting strange and hiding from me?

Hi! First, could you be more specific re.”acting strange”? What exactly is your dog doing besides the hiding from you? I have some questions for you which need to be answered as accurately as possible before I can really answer your questions w/any degree of accuracy.(Lord knows,I’m nobody'”s idea of an authority on canine behavior, but I’be owned, bred, shown;rescued and LOVES dogs all my 68 yrs.-so I’ll give it my best shot!#1) How long have you owned your dog,& where did you get him-breeder,shelter,etc.Also, what breed; gender, she & medical history (if lnown)#2)Are you his first owner,& if not,do you have any info 're. previous owners? #3)Can you think of ANY unusual incident, person, other animal which might have somehow frightened or traumatized him some way? I should have asked re.his temperment,too-does he tend to be nervous,high-strung and/or easily excited? All these issues can contribute to problems w/behavior.#4 Are you the only person he behaves this way around? If so,then you must think back to EXACTLY when this began.Try your best to recall any/everything you might’'e done/said that could’'e scared him badly,etc.-because his behavior-especially the hiding-is almost certainly fear-related/induced.Let me make it crystal clear that i’m NOT accusing you of any wrongdoing/abuse to your dog, etc. If anything, you sound very worried & concerned re.his well-being.Please try to give me as much additional info as you possibly can,& I promise you that i’'l do the best I can to help you & your dog.

What is the reason why my dog is acting strange?

Because I don't know your dog, or what counts as “strange” for him, I have no idea. However, because he's your dog, it really only matters that you notice a change in behavior, because it could be so subtle your are the only one who CAN notice something different. If you want to explain what's different, I might get a clue. Otherwise, it's a puzzle you get to solve. It's not something to ignore, in case it's something health related, you want to catch it and treat it ASAP. My sense of urgency changes into high gear if a few different things happen. First, any dog off his food. Mine will skip a meal every now and then anyway. But skipping two meals starts to really concern me. A temperature earns an immediate trip to the vet since it means infection. Normal is 101–102.5. A couple months ago, my Belgian “Tango” would not move, and turned out her temp was over 104. It climbed to over 105. I had her in a cold bath with all the ice in the house, and it would come down maybe half a point. I was afraid of brain damage or loosing her. Of course my husband kept saying she was already brain damaged, but he was just giving me s hard time. I paid for ER vet trip in weekend. Her liver was not working properly. This bill was around $700. With pet insurance it would have been $$160.Projectile vomiting I worry about bloat. If dog is panting alot and I think he can't catch breath. Learned this one the hard way. And finally, if I call by name and he won't move. Just wants to stay down. Ok, not a dog who doesn't come any way any time, and not a deaf dog that can't hear you call when he's sleeping. Not that your dog doesn't need vet, but I'm talking about “right now” or “very soon” scenarios. 8ppWell, I know I'm not much help, but if your dog is acting strange, weird, or different, there must be a reason. You've got to solve the puzzle.

Why is my dog is acting strange and hiding from me?

Guilty of something he knows he shouldn’t have done.

My dog is acting very strange, help me find out if its serious?

Okay, I have a 8 year old Yorkie. Usually she's rather lazy with a bit of playtime sprinkled about. However, yesterday, she was totally subdued and lethargic and today she's been acting very strangely. She feels like she definitely has a fever, she is panting and being erratic and running around and compulsively shaking her head one minute, then lying like she's dead the next. It's 3am here so the vet isn't open we're just very worried about her. If anyone has any idea what's going on it would be very appreciated.

Recent happenings here at home: Lice outbreak from my sister. My mother sprayed Rid everywhere as well as bathed Gabby in a sink where Rid was flushed down, can Rid cause feverish and delusional symptoms like this perhaps?
No other causes for stress so that's really all we've got, thanks in advance for any help or advice :(

MY dog is acting very strange around my rabbit please help....?

Don't worry too much about it. I have a dog and a rabbit too. My dog goes in my room all the time and tries to see what it is, he's even barked at him once. Honestly I think your dog might be either scared of the bunny, hence the shaking and constant staring, or like you said curious. But since she pushes the other dog away, she might think that she owns the bunny or something. You definately need to introduce them before your dog goes completely crazy, but first I would let your bunny out near a door, and put the dog on the opposite side of the dog. that way she could sniff the bunny and the bunny could sniff the dog without them getting too close. Next I would let them meet face to face, but behind bars. Bring them both in a neutral location, like a room that neither the bunny nor the dog knows about. I would put your bunny in a carrier, or just leave it in its cage and make sure that you dont open the cage or carrier. If you try to lead your dog toward it, and she pulls away and sits down and won't come any closer, she might be scared of it. But if she's not, and all goes well in that meeting I'd say let them meet face to face with the bunny not behind bars. Please supervise them throughout all of this, and if you aren't completely comfortable with that you could put a muzzle on the dog so that she can't bite the bunny, because bunnies get scared very easily, and can have heart attacks very easily too. Please be very, very careful while doing all of this. It would really be bad if one of them got hurt, or even if you got hurt. Good luck!

My dog is acting strange... ear infection?

my dog just had the same issue about 2 weeks ago. Wasn't himself, isolated himself, shook his head, tilted his head...after 1 day of this I CALLED THE VET (something you may want to try doing), and took him in to have an ear swab and cytology (the only way he can be diagnosed - he cannot be diagnosed on Y answers). Anyway, they found that he had a yeast infection in his ears which is very common and very easy to treat. They gave me antibiotics and ear wash and after almost 2 weeks his ears were COMPLETELY healthy again.

Do the responsible thing Go to the vet with him, because yes, I ASSURE you based on the symptoms you're describing, there is an infection or something causing him pain in the ears, and without treatment you are only allowing your poor dog to suffer. For all you know it could be ear mites. Again, you really need to get him into the vet tomorrow. Ear issues can be extremely uncomfortable and painful, yet EASILY treated. Haven't you ever had a bad ear infection? It hurts the same for your dog as it does us humans!

ALSO - do not buy anything OTC for this dog, ear wash, ear mite killers, ANYTHING, because if you don't know what's going on in there, OTC products can cause even more pain and damage. You don't want to assume ear mites, treat it with a harsh ear mite killing solution, when it could be yeast or other bacteria.
