My Dog Is Dehydrated From Vomiting But Whenever I Give Him Water He Starts To Vomit

Keep dog from getting dehydrated?

If he's acting normal I wouldn't worry about it. Sometimes they just get into something that upsets their tummies for a day. Forcing him to eat/drink could make him throw up again (just like if you are vomiting you don't eat or drink for a while). Now if he gets weak, not playing, watery diarrhea, anything like that then definately call the vet today. If he is still vomiting tomorrow then get him checked out for sure. Chances are he will be back to normal tomorrow. You may want to feed him something bland like some rice with chicken broth mixed in tomorrow morning and see how that goes. If he hasn't thrown up since this morning you could try some plain broth tonight and see how that goes. He won't get really dehydrated in one day unless he is vomiting/diarrhea many many times during the day

My dog wont eat.. he'll just drink alot of water then vomit?

It would have been better if ur parents would have helped u in this case. now immidiately do what i say...............
go to a medicine shop and buy anti-vomiting tablet like 'reglan'. open his/her mouth and put the tablet inside his throat just at the center. otherwise he will not take the medicine. ..
dont force him to eat anything. after 1/2 an hr give him a spoon full of glucose.(u can prepare it at home with clear drinking water 1TSP suger and a little salt). continue the process in very 30minutes. also provide a bowl full with plane drinking water. keep it beside him. keep ur pet in a cool place. allow him to slep.
please do not force him to eat now i'm repeating.

spend time with him as much as possible.

continue with the tablet in the evening. if he responds then OK. otherwise he will have to continue with saline water provided by vet. otherwise the situation may go worse.

if he improves he will ask u for food. he will make u understand that. but if u force him it will trouble his health.
for any aditional information please contact me in my mail id:

it is not only the way to rehydrate him.. it is the way to treat animals.... they are not always treated like human beings. i'm owing dogs for 15 yrs and i have 9 dogs at home. they are like my kids . i understand ur situation dear. trust me and do as iinstructed. if u provide him milk or anything else now he will again vomit. at fiirst give the tablet even if he dont want to take it. if he again vomits withis 15mins of taking the tablet then give the same again. otherwise it will work.

reglan will be easily available on store without any doctors prescription... it is a commonl medicine....

My dog is vomiting 24/7 whenever she drinks or eats, what can i do?

Obviously only a vet is going to fix this, but there are a couple of things you can do to help.

First, try some Pepto-Bismol, which may be difficult and messy to get down their throat. A syringe (with NO NEEDLE, of course) makes it easier if you have a decent-sized syringe or even a turkey baster. Just get some down toward their throat and it will probably coat their stomach enough to enable them to keep some food or water down.

There is a product called Nutrical (or Nutri-Cal?) that is carried by virtually any feed store or big place like Petsmart (I think). It's basically a rich food supplement in a paste, high in sugar/glucose. We usually give it to puppies or dogs that won't eat. Just squeeze some out right into their mouth, or with a spoon. It's sticky and they'll instinctively lick it, and since it's a real small quantity and very rich in food value, some may get absorbed before it gets tossed back up. Give the Pepto some time to work before you try this one, but even if the Pepto comes back up, try this anyway. Any little bit of nutrition that gets in there will help at this point.

After that, regardless of how any of that works, try giving her an ice cube, even forcing it into her mouth if necessary (but don't turn this into a battle and scare her). She may like the ice cube and chew it or just let it soak in as it melts in her mouth. At this point any hydration you can get in her is good. The vet will probably run a bag of Ringer's Solution or glucose into her with an IV, but unfortunately this isn't something most people keep on hand.

If the Pepto helps, even a bit, or if she takes some of the Nutrical and keeps it down, you can always try something she really likes, like a tiny bit of ice cream, too.

Regardless of how any of this works, this is a very serious, life-threatening condition, and you must get her into a vet just as soon as possible. Without seeing the dog it's hard to tell whether she needs to go into one of these 24-hour emergency clinics (which are really expensive), but depending on just how "down" she is, it's something to consider.

Good luck!

What is the best treatment for my dog when it keeps vomiting bile?

Yes! You should be worried because when he throws up, it burns his throat, he feels bad and ruins his teeth. When I had no money and my dog was doing that, I started cooking oatmeal for him and adding it to his dog food. It kinda went away. I got the 5 min type and would make one pot that would last two days. That settled his stomach and he loved it. If your dog is not crazy about it, you can use broth instead of water when cooking the oatmeal. Also, at a different time, I gave my dog milk thistle capsules for a while like 2 months and that helped as well. You cannot give dogs milk thistle for longer than 2 months because it can cause harm. The oatmeal works immediately.

Why is my dog vomiting daily?

This has been up here a while, so I hope you’ve taken your dog to the vet! Just like with people, dogs can become dehydrated from vomiting and become seriously ill.If you mean your dog is just barfing up some unchewed grass, that’s different as dogs will probably have eaten the grass because they needed to upchuck something, like a cat with a hair ball. Have you ever gotten a hair in your mouth (one of your own hopefully) and it’s just stuck back there in your throat (I have long hair and that has happened once or twice)? You eat a piece of soft bread and it sticks to the bread so to speak and you swallow it; a trick my mother taught me.

How do you treat a dog dry heaving and vomiting?

For how long has he been doing this? Is there something he could have gotten into? Was he unattended in your yard?I would get the dog to a vet for an examination in order to determine if he was poisoned. After that is ruled out, I would give the dog two barley tablets, brown rice cooked with a little chicken, yogurt, and digestive enzymes to settle his stomach, then monitor him to make sure it was just an isolated episode.

What are some natural remedies to stop a dog from vomiting white foam?

Hi there,Your dog might have a disease (such as rabies ~ that needs a shot from the vet), or eat something wrong. Carefully study his behavior and get to the cause.Provide fresh water and good food, then you will want to check how his toilet is (both his pee and poo). Toilet usually indicates good health or not.Is it all the time, or only during specific times ? He has it indoors or only outdoors?Maybe you got some “wrong herb” in your garden and he’s eating from that.IF you’re talking about the dog’s running around actively outside playing and then has white foam, then that’s just natural. When you’re unable to discover the main point/reason for vomiting this white foam, then just take him to the Vet.If you can here to address the problem but you feel like not going to the Vet because of you got no money, then still go to the Vet and ask for some financial arrangement. Because you can’t let animal problems unresolved, as they tend to only get worse after time, leaving you both more feeling bad. There’s always a solution for every problem, but don’t procrastinate, rather address every problem asap.Good luck getting things resolved.

How do I stop my dog vomiting from Adequan?

He is in the loading phase of Adequan but it has made him vomit like 4 times a day. I've given him Peptobismol (two dosages only) and Zantac and changed his food to a sensitive stomach one. He has improved (less volume and clearer) but still vomiting. I am about to give him Benadryl since I've read it helps with nausea. Should I continue giving him Zantac or Pepto?

I think my dog is dehydrated. He won't drink, please help?

You know it's not totally necessary for a dog to be always drinking. Have you done the dehydration test - 'tenting' his skin. If you pull some up, suggest around his neck, it should snap back immediately. If it doesn't he is dehydrated. And if this is the case, you could syringe some water in. However, if he's eating (?) he will be taking in moisture from his food (I suggest you moisten his food, for now and there is loads of water in tinned dog food too - check out the label). Unless the tenting test shows he is definitely dehydrated, there is honestly no need to worry about him seeming to be 'dry'. He's probably just exhausted .....see below .... so just give him time to rest.

As he's been away for days (could he have been bitching - which could mean somebody might have been feeding and watering him?) I think my next step would be to get him checked over thoroughly by your vet. The fact he's lethargic could just be because he's been exerting himself while away, running (maybe he actually found a b itch and ...... well you know and that means you really have to properly fence him in so he can't run away again), and he needs to rest.

Give it to morning - it doesn't sound like a dire emergency to be honest although obviously if he deteriorates, you'll need to treat it was one - and take him in to your vet.

Getting back to the how did he get out ..... you are lucky to get him back so look to patching up fencing etc.

Add - I agree with the answer below, apart from the milk!! If you use milk, don't give him cows milk. Goats milk by all means as it's closest to b itch milk, but offering him cows milk, even if diluted, could well give him the runs, and given you don't know where he's been or what he been into, he doesn't need!!
