My Dog Is Dry Retching Answers Asap

What causes dry heaving in dogs?

That is quite like a cat hacking up 'hair-balls' which may or may not actually BE hair-balls.  Dogs ALSO lick themselves, so may get hair-balls.  They also lick a HELL of a lot of OTHER things, so my be choking on ANYTHING.  Once they've worked whatever it is into their throats, they will swallow it again.  Cats usually leave the hair-balls behind. It may also be their trying to breathe through stuffed noses.

How do you treat a dog dry heaving and vomiting?

For how long has he been doing this? Is there something he could have gotten into? Was he unattended in your yard?I would get the dog to a vet for an examination in order to determine if he was poisoned. After that is ruled out, I would give the dog two barley tablets, brown rice cooked with a little chicken, yogurt, and digestive enzymes to settle his stomach, then monitor him to make sure it was just an isolated episode.

How can dry heaving in dogs be prevented?

My dog used to do this and the vet told me it was likely due to his going to sleep on an empty stomach. We now give him a couple of dog treats and a drink of water at bedtime, and he is much more settled. But you should always take the advice of a qualified professional above that of another dog owner like me.

My dog is pregnant. She is gagging and dry heaving. Is this a sign that she is going into labor?

She is a boxer and she should be due anytime between now and the next week and a half (we are not sure which day she got pregnant on.) It is the middle of the night and she is laying by me coughing/dry heaving every minute or so. Should I be getting ready for puppies tonight?

Dog: woke up to dry heaving, doesn t like to move, swaying and acting like doesn t want to fall asleep/lay down, jerking head?

I was woken up to my dog dry heaving, wanting to throw up. I tried to get her off my bed to see if she needed to go out but she didn t want to move. I picked her up and we went to the living room. She didn t go out but just stood there swaying and off balance, it was like she was really tired but didn t want to fall asleep or lay down. Her head was jerking too, like when I went to pet her or when she would walk, or sudden movements around her. She doesn t eat a lot of food, she s a very small shitzus poodle, but wouldn t touch the food I offered her. She s very hesitant to move, when we went back to bed her movements were sharp like she was trotting other than casually walking. She s finally laying down and asleep but she s never done this before, what s wrong?

What does it mean when your dog makes weird dry heaving sounds?

My dog was sitting next to me and I was petting her, then she turned away and started making weird sounds like dry heaving like she was going to puke. I put her outside so she wouldn't make a mess and now she seems just fine. She didn't puke and that's the first time I've heard her make those sounds. She looks normal now and isn't making those sounds but what does it mean? Should I be concerned?

How can I help my dog that keeps dry heaving?

You need to get to the vet immediately. I do not understand why people think the virtual world can help with real world emergencies like this? You need to get help in the real world, this can be very serious. He might have eaten something bad, but he could have a bowel obstruction or any number of life-threatening problems, and nobody on the internet can help you.I pay attention to what comes up on my feed here, and you first asked about this YESTERDAY! Do not think for a second that posting anonymously will hide the fact that you are neglecting your dog. Get to a vet immediately, you've already let this go WAY too long!

Why is my puppy dry heaving?

For the last day and a half my boxer puppy of 10 weeks has been dry heaving every couple hours. She has yet to vomit at all but drops of foamy saliva come up every once in a while. She is acting normal, eating normal (3 meals a day, 1 cup of food each meal), and using the bathroom normal. Last Saturday we went to the vet for an ear infection and she was put on children's benedryl. Her first dry heave started about the time as her last treatment of the medicine but I don't think that really has anything to do with it. What could be the problem?
