My 2 week pregnant dog has a white milky discharge coming from her vulva? Is that just a normal sign?
If your female dog's discharge has suddenly increased, (possibly even to the point of being profuse), that is an indication that she has expelled her cervical mucous plug. The increased discharge is a slimy mucous, transparent to milky white, (the consistency of egg whites or somewhat frothy egg whites). It is normal as the dog is approaching the time of giving birth. The mucous plug is generally passed within a day to a week of the birth. If your dog is 59 days into her pregnancy, she is full term and can go into labor at any time. Actually one of my dogs gave birth yesterday and expelled her mucous plug the day before. I assume the your dog's mammary glands are noticeably enlarging at this point. Additional prelabor symptoms you can monitor her for include the appearance of her abdomen "dropping" lower and the swelling of her vulva. The fetuses will become increasingly active. Her cervix will be dilating. If you will take her morning and evening temperature, just prior to labor, it should read 99-101.5. It will elevate slightly then drop to approximately 98F at the onset of labor. From that time, the delivery should occur in 12-24 hours in most cases. Additional symptoms of the first stage of labor, (which can last 6-18 hours), include consistent panting, involuntary trembling, widely dilated pupils, restlessness, a loss of appetite and nesting/digging. A the time approaches, the dog may dig frantically and the trembling become more pronounced. When she reclines and starts to push/strain with intense, rhythmic contractions, (which is obvious, by the way), the first puppy should be born in 20-30 minutes. If an hour passes of hard labor and the first puppy is not born, your veterinarian should be consulted. Continue monitoring her, (remaining very calm), and allow the labor to progress naturally. If your dog wants attention, pet her and help her to relax. If she prefers to be left alone, give her privacy. Each dog may respond differently, (my toy breeds are always clingy). (watch for the symptoms and take her rectal temperature). If not, it shouldn't be long. Best wishes to you and your dog for an uncomplicated delivery of healthy puppies. Good luck.
My dog has black discharge coming from vaginal area, whats going on?
We just got back from the vet. It seems she is pregnant. Her milk is white, her stomach is bigger. She did stick her finger inside her uterus to check n she said that it's still a long ways before she gives birth. the black discharge she said, wasnt good. It could mean that she lost a baby, or all of them, but, it's still very very early, n the puppies dont have organs yet..still developing. She gave us antibiotics, vitamins, n by monday we will go back to see if her condition improves. If not, Duchess (my dog) will have surgery to clean out her uterus of the deceased pups..if they are all in fact dead. As of now, if she declines in her condition after 3 days, she's asked to be brought back. I have her personal number, and she's willing to do a house visit if there's an emergency. My dog is leaking some sort of brown fluid?!?
sadly yet true........ it sounds like pyometra to me. female dogs epecily (but still common in young ones) older ones seem to get this after coming into heat. we had a female who died of this we thought she was in heat and was gradualy losing weight and puking quite often. we took her to the vet and they "cured" it they said.yet a month later she died for no reason and we found out it was pyometra (without the symtems) very unusaual. check out this question for more help http://www.petplace.com/dogs/pyometra-in... this IS what is is or will soon be take her 2 the vet ASAP!

Yes it is! It means she has lost her mucus plug! It also means that she will start active labor soon. How soon I cant tell you sometimes as little as a few hours sometimes a few days. You will have to be very careful and watch her very closely fro this point on! Take her out on a leash for potty calls and start to show her where her whelping area is! You should also have everthing all ready for her to whelp too, all the supplies you will need. Be prepaired to be with her the whole time. You should not think they can do it all them selves! Some can, some cant. If problems come up have your vet's phone number on speed dial and when your in doubt call your vet!
12 year old dog is leaking brown fluid from vaginal area?
My dog, Rascha, just lost her mother, Pepper almost two weeks ago. Pepper was 14, just too old. She couldn't do things normally anymore and we had to put her down. She was ready to go. The night before we took Pepper in, she started leaking fluid. We didn't now what it was but vet didn't say anything about it when we put her down. Now almost two weeks later, Rascha started to realize her mother wasn't coming back and has been crying every night, following me around the kitchen to give her love. But a day or two later, she started leaking brown fluid too. She keeps crying at night but now I'm not sure if she's grieving or in pain or both. We considering taking her to the vet but I'd like some others opinions before going in so I have some knowledge. No she's not fixed. About 12 years old Liquid is brown, coming from her vaginal area. Help????
My dog's vagina is swollen and bleeding, is she in heat or pregnant?
By the sound of it she is in heat. She is only 11 months and it makes her too young to have puppies. A person shouldn't breed a dog until it is 2 years old. Separate them now. Are they by chance related? If so, do not breed them, as they can throw babies with severe deformities. Mark it on your calendar. She will come in again 6 months later. If she was pregnant, she wouldn't have a bloody discharge in her vagina. Her nipples would be swollen with pockets of milk and her belly would bulge and become hard. If the female is flagging the male, or standing still and backing herself into his face, she wants to be with him. They are a week coming in, a week in, and a week out and she can become pregnant during any of those days,
My female dog is leaking white fluid from her vagina?
My friend actually pointed it out. Not sure how long my dog has been leaking this fluid for. Its a creamy white colour.. and she has been sooking alot more then usual lately. Also she has been paying more attention to her vagina. She is about 3yrs old. Im worried a tad bit about her.
