Will a standard DVD player work fine with a 4K TV?
If the TV supports the DVD’s output, yes. The problem is that many newer TVs have stopped supporting composite video (or S-Video) and may have exclusively HDMI and component video inputs. In that case, your DVD player can’t be connected to your TV. So, check the available outputs in your DVD player and whether they are supported by your new TV.
How do I burn movies to play on a DVD player?
OK...I got a bunch of horror movies downloaded and I wanna burn them off so I can delete them from my computer, you know what I mean? Sounds simple enough. That's what I thought. Then when I burn them they won't play on my DVD player that supports DVD-RAM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, +R, and +RW PLAYBACK. It takes a long time to load then I get "noPLAY" or the display says error (U11, I think - whatever that means). I tried playing other data DVDs on it that friends gave me and those movies work fine, so there's nothing wrong with the player. If it helps, I'm using Windows Vista and the newest Windows Media Player to burn, I got the torrents from either Mininova or Isohunt, I used BitLord to download the torrents and I'm using Verbatim 4.7 DVDs. Before burning I select "master." It says that's for DVD players. That's right, right? If anyone can suggest anything I'm doing wrong that would be awesome! I have some burned off DVDs here with, like, 4 or 5 movies on them. I usually try to burn about three 700mb movies. Do you think maybe that's too much for some reason? Maybe I'm not selecting the option to turn it into small files, or however you burn it to play on computers and some players. Data? I'm sure that's what that's called. Also, if anyone knows how many (about 700 mb) movies I can fit on the 4.7gb disc that would be awesome too. I don't mind burning them off as data if I can burn off more on one disc, and I don't care about losing picture quality if I do so. And I know the disc won't play on some DVD players if I burn as data. Check the stats above, will my DVD player (a Panasonic DVD-S43) play data? HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
Why is the DVD player of my Toshiba laptop not working? How can I fix it?
Dvd player is the most susceptible to breakage components, buy a new one ( $40), remove the screw holding the drive on the back, extract it, place the new one.I don't fix my players, i use an external drive.( €35)
Why does a scratched DVD movie not play on my computer, but will play fine on a dedicated DVD player?
The player on your computer might be reading more of the disk than the dedicated player does. In particular the app may be reading ALL of the support data where the player reads only what it knows that it needs. This might allow the player to avoid a small bad spot. And it suggests that different apps might yield different results. There is also the possibility that the dedicated player has error correction that gets it past the bad spots. It used to be common for apps to ask if you wanted to turn on error correction at the device. I think iTunes still does this for CDs.
Is there any way I can control my DVD/Blu ray player with no remote? I have an LG bp220 DVD/Blu ray player with a usb port in the front. Is there anything I can use, like an iPhone or wii remote or wireless mouse, that can function as a remote?
The Blu-Ray player remote talks to the player through IR (infrared) signals. iPhones can't do IR remote directly. There are apps that work with external IR devices such as the Griffin Beacon by essentially turning Bluetooth signals into IR commands:But you didn't want more equipment. Your best bet without buying anything is to make use of one of your other remotes. Most Cable box remotes and many TV remotes are actually universal remotes and can control your Blu-Ray player. (If your TV or cable box is older it's possible that the remote does not have a built-in code for the player - for a cable remote this should be solvable as they are generally upgradable -- call your cable company -- but most TV remotes are not). If the above doesn't work your best option is to get a new universal remote. These can be had very cheaply if your goal is just to replace the Blu-Ray remote; this RCA model works fine and goes for under six bucks on Amazon:Amazon.com : RCA Rcr503Br 3-Device Palm-Sized Universal RemoteIf you want to reduce overall clutter, upgrade to a universal remote that can control everything you have, then put the other remotes away. This may be technically "buying extra equipment" but the net result may be fewer, not more, devices.
Built in DVD player not working on my Polaroid TV.?
So I have a Polaroid TV with a built in DVD player on the left side, (i'm sorry, i don't know what type of TV it is...) but I was watching a DVD a few weeks ago, and then all of a sudden it froze. I turned the TV off and on again, and when I tried to put the DVD back on, the DVD beginning screen came up for 2-3 seconds and then went back to a blue screen with nothing. I tried turning it off and on again, pulling out the plug and everything. still nothing. So, this DVD is now trapped inside my TV, and I cannot use the DVD player. The TV works fine, just not the DVD function. Any idea how to fix this? I'd GREATLY appreciate it. The DVD that is stuck inside is part of a collection of very rare movies, and I REALLY need to get it out!! Thanks in advance!
Computer won't play dvds?
It seems as if your drives are unable to read whatever format the dvds are written in which is strange because most dvd roms come with software which has a program to read/play dvds. It is also possible that you do not have software installed that can read the dvds, in this case the drive is not the problem. the dvd might be spinning because you've got the autoplay feature enabled so it's looking for software with which to play/open it. There are free software available, such as nero showtime or even windows media player, real player, etc. what type/brand dvd drives do you have?
Why does my DVD player say "unknown disc"? How do I fix it?
It could be that the player is wearing out. The Unknown disc problem might be a sign that the laser has worn out, probably due to using cheaper components in the construction. Now-a-days players use cheap components and they don't last. Players no longer have cooling fans in them, which means they have to rely on air cooling. If your DVD player is not in a very well ventilated place, it could be dying because of heat damage. In any event, cleaning is extremely unlikely to help it, but you could try that as a last resort. You can try cleaning the lens with a lens cleaner disc. If you don't mind taking the player apart to some extent, you can take the outer shell off and try cleaning the lens directly (but carefully) with a good swab and cleaning solution. Sometimes, the only thing causing a player to stop recognizing discs is a dirty laser lens. Take a cotton swab and dip it in alcohol/spirit/after shave. Make sure shake it off until the swab is damp, but not dripping wet. Gently use it to clean the lens. Then use the other end to dry the lens off. Remain gentle at all times.Additionally you can try to calibrate the lens using the 2 presets as in the image below. Use a Philips screwdriver to turn the pots counter-clockwise in very small amounts until the DVD starts recognizing the disks. If that doesn't work then it could be a problem with the lens its self, Or could be a problem with the power supply to the laser.Still having issues, as i final tip, you can try changing the lens or the entire Lens + CCM Unit. Changing the CCM unit eliminates the possibility of a problematic motor/s causing the issue. Just don't be surprised if you have to buy a new player.
DVD player won't open...Help!?
I have a Toshiba DVD/VHS player and it's been working fine for all the years I've had it. Tonight, after I finished watching a movie, I pressed the eject button and the tray wouldn't open. Instead it just kept making this mechanical sound like it was trying hard, but failing, then just gave up. I tried turning it off and on again, letting it cool down, etc. and it still keeps making that sound and won't open. I can't find a manual eject either and the DVD is still in there. Is the player dead?
