My Ear Is Driving Me Crazy

Blocked ear, driving me crazy! What can I do?

I am getting over a bit of a cold, however today one of my ears has become blocked, no pain, just the sensation of dulled sound and a little bit of pressure and it is driving me insane, I can't hear out of it properly and it's very frustrating.

Is there anything I can try to unblock it?

I tried swallowing while plugging my nose but that didn't work. Can it only be treated with ear medication?

How to get my ear to pop? It's driving me crazy!?

My right ear needs to pop, but it won't. It's been needing to pop since yesterday. It feels clogged and I can't really hear out of it. It's driving me nuts.

How can I get my ear to pop? I've tried yawning and chewing gum. Doing that popped my left ear, but my right one still needs to pop. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Is the ringing in your ears driving you crazy?

I don't have this what you are describing, but my former husband did and he couldn't stand it anymore so he killed himself. Don't go to that extreme. See your doctor and ask for a battery of tests. It could be a number of things. Do you drink? Are you a diabetic? Do you have heart problems? How do you hear? ANd, when they tell you what it is, follow their suggestions and take your meds! My husband refused until he was given only three months to live and he had that ringing for 18 years.

Ringing in my ear is driving me CRAZY!?

I do not think this is anything major.

It could be your exposure to loud noise from the trap shooting, but since this started when the cold did and not right after the trap shoot, the best bet is that you're having sinusitis, inflammation or infection of the sinus passages on the right side because of your cold, and the sinusitis is triggering the tinnitus which means ringing in the ears. When the cold is better, the tinnitus should be gone too.

Tinnitus can come from pressure on nerves near the ear, and sinus inflammation can do this. That's why a decongestant may help. It may relieve some of the pressure and inflammation, and the tinnitus may go away. On the other hand, if you take an oral decongestant or use a decongestant spray, when the medicine wears off, the congestion can return *worse* than before. You don't want to take decongestants (including nasal sprays) constantly for more than a few days because it can cause this kind of rebound congestion and chronic sinusitis. Most sinusitis is from viruses. It can come from bacteria, in which case you may need an antibiotic (but usually not). It can come from an allergic reaction to a fungus, in which case, removing the irritant from your environment will solve it.

Chances are that if this is a cold, and you wait it out, you'll wake up one morning in a week or week-and-a-half, maybe sooner, and your sinuses will feel better and the tinnitus will be gone. (In the meantime, it may develop on the left as well.) If it continues more than a couple of weeks, you can see a doctor for it, as it may be an allergy, bacterial sinusitis, or chronic sinus condition developing.

Since this sound is driving you crazy, you really should diligently protect your hearing when shooting or when near guns. I have tinnitus chronically because of exposure to loud music and power tools. Many other people do get it from weapons. There is no cure. You will see cures for tinnitus being sold on the Internet--they're all fake. So if you really hate this sensation: take good care of your hearing!

Good luck and good health.

I have water in my ear and it's driving me crazy!! How do I get rid of it??!!?

What you have is a classic problem that happens when you submerge your head in water, like going swimming or just showering sometimes can do this. It is called "swimmer's ear."

Swimmer's ear can be caused by several things, but primarily is caused by the LACK of ear wax in your ear. Water and excessive moisture wash away the ear canal's protective skin and earwax barrier and create a medium for bacterial growth. Surprisingly, using cotton-tip applicators to clean the ears is the leading cause of Swimmer's Ear. A few twists with an applicator is all that it takes to rub away the protective skin and earwax in the canal. Swimmer's ear is occasionally associated with middle ear infection (otitis media) or upper respiratory infections such as colds. Moisture in the ear predisposes the ear to infection from fungus or water-loving bacteria such as Pseudomonas species.

There is an acidic coating on the ear canal that contains lysozymes and other substances that inhibit bacterial and fungal growth. Water elevates the pH in the ear canal, washes away the ear wax, allowing keratin debris to absorb the water and creates a great medium for bacterial growth. Normally, the tympanic membrane (ear drum) creates an epithelial migration in an outward direction carrying any debris with it protecting the ear drum.

As the other answerer said, the rubbing alcohol should be mixed with a little white vinegar (acetic acid) to lower the pH. If you don’t lower the pH, the rubbing alcohol will only dry out the ear and not counter the affect the water has on the ear of raising the pH allowing germs to grow. Also, you can go to the drug store or health food store and purchase some Aqua Ear, Ear magic, or Swim Ear to help alleviate some of the discomfort you are experiencing.

A really wonderful herbal mixture for this problem I highly suggest you try is Mullein oil mixed in olive oil is used as earache drops. This mixture has analgesic, antihistaminic, antiinflammatory, anticancer, antioxidant, antiviral, bacteristat, cardiodepressant, estrogenic, antifungicide, hypnotic, and sedative qualities.

good luck to you

My cousin is driving me crazy!!!!!?

Have you tried getting on his level? Get on the floor and play with him...take him outside and play tag or hide & seek. It sounds like he's just seeking attention. Do something constructive with his energy...he's only 4.

My ongoing ear wax problem is driving me crazy, any one can give some advice?

Hi all. 26m here. I started 1 month + ago to feel like my ear was clogged, and i would wake up with my ear feeling so clogged i thought i was losing my hearing. went to doc recently, he prescribed drops( Murine ear wax removal system)..I actually felt even worse, like my ear was so much more clogged it felt as if it was going to pop.. now 1 day after, i still feel clogged. very bad.. he he, so i decided to look at my ear with the webcam to see what was going on. Notice i said webcam, because it's an IBOT computer camera but i don't mean i showed it to someone , i mean i connected it to the computer and with a computer video program you can see the video on the computer screen. So what i noticed is i have a tremendous amount of hard wax starting from the ear canal and going deeper into the ear. no wonder i feel like this. But i've used peroxide and murine ear wax removal kit,, and i don't get any relief..i even tried water..and that hard wax doesn't seem to disolve.. what todO?
