My Earlobe Hurts And It Swelling Up

My fourth earlobe piercing is swollen and red?

i just got my 2nd earhole piercing and the left side's ok but the ride side's gone red and goopy. i lost the alcohol solution they gave me for the ear so i'm just cleaning it with clean hands every day. i left the goopy thing there and its now sort of formed like a crust (yuck!) arnd the hole and its sorta healing on its own. i think i'm on my way to recovery. i'm gg to leave the yucky crust there covered behind my ear stud and once its healed, i'm assuming its gg to fall off. it its red, i'de suggest washing with sea salt and warm water (althoguh one of the girls suggested iodised salt??) i've known pple who have skin infections and go take a dip in the sea to clean out the skin surface... so sea salt is what i use sometimes.

i've also read somewhere that some pple are alergic to earrings with nickel in them maybe your'e one of them. buy nickel free earrings and if all else fails, go bck to the store and ask them for help. or go to the doc. good luck wiit it. when u pick best answers, pls let us know how your ear feels. take care and hope i helped!

Swollen ear lobe after going up a gauge?

Okay, so I have been gauging my ears for a while now and I was at 2G(6mm) for quite a while. I decided it was time to go up a gauge, I was ready because my ear lobe felt fine and I could jiggle my flesh plug around with no pain whatsoever, I had waited about a month and a half as well so I know I haven't gone up too soon. Anyway, I used an acrylic expander(taper), same as I have used everytime I've gone up a gauge. This was on Monday.
It hurt quite a bit when I put the taper in but same as usual really, I woke up a few times on Monday night after catching my taper on my pillow(couldn't put my plug in, was too painful to move the taper about) but nothing to bad. I was fine at school all day Tuesday and last night(Tuesday night) I owke up 2 or 3 times after catching my pillow with the taper. I washed my ear before school, cleaned the taper and put it back in and went off to school. My ear started to get sorer and sorer as the day went on and I went to put in my plug when I got home but my ear lobe has swollen A LOT and it hurts, it's been bleeding a lot and the blood keeps drying around the taper so I have to twist it everyone so often so it doesn't stick to my ear.

Short version: I stretched my ear lobe the same way I always have and I didn't skip a size, went from 2G to 0G after waiting long enough, I was fine for a day but today I saw it had swollen A LOT and is bleeding a lot every so often.

I don't want any answers saying I shouldn't be stretching or anything, just want to know what I should do? Should I just wait it out or go back down a few sizes or clean my ear a few times?

Swollen earlobe and neck?

My earlobe is swollen bad and hurts like hell. And this morning I woke up to the left side of my neck right under my swollen earlobe to be a bit swollen and also hurting. I'm assuming it's a swollen lymph node but not 100% sure.

One of my stretched ear lobes is randomly swelling up and getting very sore?

I started stretching about 2 years ago and I am at my final size of 20 mm.
I've been at this size for 6 months with no problems, but all of a sudden my left ear lobe is swollen, red and sore.
My ear lobe is very swollen after taking out my tunnel steel plugs that were a little irritating.
Now I'm not sure if I should put a plug back in, or if I should leave them out for the night.
My ear has never done this, and I'm getting a bit worried. Does anyone know why this may have happened, or what I should do at this point?
Thanks.

My earlobe is swollen. Should I be worried?

A swollen earlobe could mean that you have a pimple, a blister, or some other lesion. If the lesion lasts for more than two weeks or is quite painful, then I would recommend seeing a doctor.

How to reduce swollen earlobe?

Ibuprofen should stop the swelling. I would recommend taking up to 500 mg every four hours and if that doesn't help, call your doctor. They might be able to prescribe you something a little stronger. The liquid is probably just pus, which is gross, but not harmful. Just watch out. If there's a lot of pus, or the swelling doesn't go away within 48 hours, it could be an infection. In that case, call your doctor for some antibiotics. My best guess is the tissue is just irritated and needs some time to become less inflamed. Try to put cold compresses on your ears two-three times a day. Once the swelling is gone and your ears pretty much look and feel normal, wait another 24 hours before you try stretching again. If you keep stretching while the tissue's irritated, it could cause a blowout.

Good luck!

What causes cysts in the earlobe?

There are number of factors or  conditions may lead to knots, lumps, bumps, or nodules behind your ears. These conditions include:AbscessAn abscess develops when tissue or cells in an area of the body become infected. Your body responds to the infection by trying to kill off the invading bacteria or virus. To fight the bacteria, your body sends white blood cells to the infected areas. These white blood cells begin accumulating in the damaged location. As a result, pus begins to develop. Pus is a thick, fluid-like product that develops from dead white bloods cells, tissue, bacteria, and other invading substances. Abscesses are often painful and warm to the touch.Sebaceous CystsSebaceous cysts are noncancerous bumps that arise beneath the skin. They most commonly develop on the head, neck, and torso. This type of cyst develops around the sebaceous gland, which is responsible for producing oil that lubricates your skin and hair. Most sebaceous cysts cause little to no pain. They may, however, be uncomfortable or irritating because of where they develop on your body.LymphadenopathyLymphadenopathy begins in your lymph nodes. Lymph nodes are tiny, organ-like structures that are present throughout your body. This includes under your arms, in your neck, in your pelvis, and behind the ears. From time to time, your lymph nodes will swell. In many cases, the swelling is the result of an infection. As the number of infection-fighting cells grows, they will begin to build up in the lymph nodes. As a result, the lymph nodes will begin to swell. Swollen lymph nodes are commonly due to infection, inflammation, or cancer.Acne VulgarisAcne is a common skin condition that occurs when hair follicles in the skin become clogged. Dead skin cells and oil can clog the follicles. As a result, pimples and bumps may develop. In some cases, these bumps will grow to be large, solid bumps that can be painful.Once it is visible, you better go to the doctor for a check up.

I’ve had this piercing for about 2 years now and it still hurts to touch or sleep on sometimes. Now, I have a bump or a bubble (it seems) and my ear is swollen, red, super sore and throbbing or burning. What do I do?

2 years is a long time for something to be hurting. I had three piercings in my cartilage many many years ago, and it was fine for a couple years, but then I got those bumps and ended up taking them out and letting the holes close up. Then, about 5 years ago or so, I got another part of my cartilage pierced a little lower than the first one. I got it done at Claire's, which was a bad idea. They clean the studs, but I don't think they ever clean the gun. But anyway, that particular piercing got infected right away, I asked opinions on what to do. I ended up using peroxide and putting in a solid gold earring, and just left that in there, till the hole healed. And I've made sure to only use white gold or yellow gold in that particular earring hole, and so far no problems. I originally got it pierced with titanium, which was probably a bad idea. I’ve really only been able to wear gold earrings in any of my ear holes. Some people can't wear anything but gold, and I'm one of them. So depending on what you have in your ears right now you could try switching it over to gold, or letting them close up, or I would suggest a tattoo/piercing place, that has more education on the subject.

I got my ear lobe pierced a week ago and now it’s swollen, kind of warm, and it hurts. Should I panic?

I would not panic, but I also wouldn't let all worry out of my head. I will alway recommend seeing a physician if your piercing gets swollen and warm. Yes, it could resolve on its own. But with piercings, an infection can go from being a little warm and swollen to filled with pus and swollen three times larger in just a few hours. If you go to the doctor now, it's easily fixed. You take some preventative antiobiotics, or you get treatment for an allergy and it's over. If you don't, it may pass on its own. Or it can become so infected you need surgery . Google “infected ear piercing.” The smallest irritation can turn into a nightmare. So, why not do the easy thing and have it looked at by a doctor while there's not much to worry about? It could save your ear.I have 18 ear piercings, and three other piercings. I had never gotten an infection until my very last one, my 18th ear piercing. Like you, it was just a little red, and a little warm. There was also just one small drop of pus. I went to the urgent care, and the doctor couldn't stress enough how glad he was I came. He had all kinds or stories about all kinds of terrible infections. He said it didn't look bad, but that I needed antibiotics anyway. He gave me the antibiotics and cleaning instructions. The first antibiotics didn't work, so I got a different kind. And voila, nothing to worry about.People will argue that we shouldn't take so many antibiotics, and that it makes us immune to them. And that's true. But they will use that as a reason not to go to the doctor, and in that, they are completely wrong. You ARE supposed to take antibiotics for infections, and to prevent them. Antibiotics are for infections, and only a doctor can decide if you don't need antibiotics. This would be the right time to take them, if the doctor decides you need them.If you decide not to follow my advice, which I don't recommend (piercers and doctors agree with me), do NOT clean you piercing with hydrogen peroxide. Alcohol and peroxide damage the tissue in cuts (a piercing is a cut), and prolong healing. Use plain, non-scented soap and warm water to gently clean the piercing twice a day, and use triple-antibiotic ointment after you do. Take your temperature several times a day. If you have a fever, if you see pus, if it starts swelling more, go to the doctor. No arguments. But, really: go now.Good luck with your piercing, and at the doctor's.
