My Female 2 1/2 Year Old Female Dog Was Spayed 4 Days Ago. She Is Still Very Sleepy She Takes

My dog was just spayed on Thursday and now her nipple is leaking white stuff, looks like milk. Should I worry?

I adopted a boxer mix from my towns animal shelter in December. She is roughly 1 year old. When we got her she was going through a heat cycle so our vet would not spay her at the time. Since the time we got her, her nipples have been very large and then about 1-2 weeks after we got her, the areas around her nipples started to droop and be saggy, like VERY saggy. We know she isn't pregnant since she hasn't been around any male dogs, actually any dogs at all for that matter.. she is a house dog and only goes out on a leash with me or my husband.

Anyhow, she was finally spayed on Thursday. Today is the first day she has been acting herself again.. well, right now she is on my bed next to me sleeping and I just noticed one of her nipples is leaking white stuff that looks like milk.. is this normal for after being spayed? Should I contact the vet? Should I just wait to see what happens? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

When a female dog comes in heat for the first time, how many day's does this last?

my female pit is 10 months old and came into her first heat cycle. It has been 2 weeks and she is still showing signs of being in heat and has me concerned.I've been told it's normal for the first heat cycle to be worse and last longer, does anyone have any advice or know anything about this?

Vets says my Chihuahua is too small to be spayed, but my male dachshund will not be neutered! ?

I adopted a 6 lb 1 1/2 year old beautiful sweet perfect female Chihuahua and I'm already in love with her. She isn't going anywhere, she's my baby, I've bonded very deeply with her, and so has my other baby, Thomas Earl, he loves her ( he's my dachshund who's 7 yrs I've raised from a 6 wk old puppy ). Thomas Earl will not be neutered, period. There is no risk for unwanted pregnancies with him because we live in an apartment and there's no way for him to escape and get a girl pregnant, my mother died last year, and she was all I had, now I have no family, only my dachshund whom she got for me. Me, Thomas Earl, and my mom were a family before she was basically murdered in the hospital and I want a puppy from him before he passes away so I can have a piece of him when he's gone. I spent months trying to find the perfect dog to fit into our home, and Cinderella is perfect in every way. I immediately took her in to the vet to be spayed, and he says she can't be spayed because she's too small, and Chihuahua's as a breed just are never spayed. I'm devastated because I'm not giving up my baby girl Cinderella or neutering Thomas Earl. We are all very sad right now because we are a family these are my babies and this girl loves me and I love her and Tommy loves her and I don't know what to do, or why I can't spay her. I'm really really hurt.

I'm 23, and when my mom passed away Thomas Earl got separation anxiety, because she was wheelchair bound most of my life, and stayed home with Thomas all day every day. My boyfriend loves her I love her my friends love her I am hurt that it's physically impossible for her to be spayed. I'm just, in shock. I'm hurt.

My dog thinks she's a mother of a stuffed animal, and it's starting to become a problem. Spaying is not an option. What should I do?

It sounds like she is suffering from a false pregnancy. Or, considering that you are not protecting her from male dogs when she's in season, she could be pregnant and getting ready for whelping. Hard to tell. Only a veterinarian could tell you for sure.If she is suffering from a false pregnancy, there's not much in the way of treatment. If you take the puppy surrogate away, she'll either find another or she'll spend her time trying to find the surrogate. False pregnancies are caused by a disruption of the reproductive hormones, so her behaviour is not completely under her own control. Keep an eye on her mammary glands; if she starts to lactate, her mammary glands will swell up and she will leak milk. You may have to cut down her daily food for a few days to discourage lactation. If she's suffering from false pregnancy, she's in a period of higher risk of a uterine infection called pyometra where the uterus becomes infected and engorged with white blood cells. Pyometra is a life threatening condition that requires emergency veterinary treatment to prevent rupture of the uterus. Pyometra is characterised by drinking more water than usual, sometimes difficulty with urination, a temperature and tenderness of the abdomen. If she is actually pregnant, then you need to prepare a place for her to whelp safely. It needs to be warm and to be easy to clean several times a day. It needs to be somewhere that your dog will feel mentally comfortable and secure with or there is a risk she will try to move her puppies or kill them. Puppies should stay with their mothers for 8 to 9 weeks; they start eating food in the third or fourth week and they need to be fed several times a day once the mother stops lactating. If you do not feel up to caring for your dog while she raises a litter, then your vet can do an ovario-hysterectomy on her. If you don't want her to have puppies ever, then spaying her (a synonym for ovario-hysterectomy) is the only sure way to prevent unwanted pregnancy.

My dog got neutered a few hours ago, his back legs are so weak he can't walk well. is this normal?

Side effect of the anesthesia. He should be okay in 24 hours.

Can a female dog get pregnant by two different males?

Yes. Years ago, near where I lived - a breeding was going on of Walker Hounds, beautiful dogs. Anyway, one was born, looking like a Doberman. That dog immediately went to the local pound. Someone adopted him and he was passed along until he was mine. Everyone knew the dog, he was famous because people just couldn’t keep a secret about the litter. He was my doggie for 19 years. One day he was crying at the door. I opened the door and he stood there like.. he wanted me to come with him. I sat on the step with him barefoot and we prayed together. He would bow his head when I prayed. When I was done, reciting the 23rd Psalm, I asked him if he would like to walk together. We knew that he had lung cancer. As I turned to grab my shoes, he took off like a bolt. I never saw him again, I think he was leaving to go die alone. I don’t think he wanted me or my children to see him die.Four years later, I was in the same house, and I was running the vacuum in the living room. My four year old, pre-K daughter screamed - don’t run over the big doggie, Mom! I looked at her. And I asked, what does the doggie look like. She said he’s black and tan. No one had ever told her, that his favorite spot was in front of the fire place at night, and that’s where I was working. I believe he stayed with our family for a very long time. I still miss him very much.
