My Ferret Kit Lost A Tooth

How do I get my ferret to stop biting his cage?

He kept getting out of his cage, so I got locks to put on all the doors of his cage and secured all the corners and stuff with heavy duty wire ties. Now he's CONSTANTLY biting at his cage, and even though most of the time he's trying to open the door, sometimes he just bites the bars.

He'll grab it between his front teeth and just pull back and it makes the whole cage vibrate with a "BUNG, BUNG" sound. It drives me insane and he does it while I'm sleeping and wakes me up when I have to go to school the next morning.

I know his cage isn't too small, considering it's taller than I am at 5'6" so, it's big enough. He's got food, he's got water, he's got toys, even though he's never played with them, and he can't want to be let out, because if I take him out he just goes and finds somewhere to sleep, and he's got his own hammock.

Is he lonely? I was considering getting another ferret, but Buddy is 5 already, and grew up by himself. I just got him a couple months ago 'cause his owner died.

Any advice?

My poor ferret broke a bottom fang tooth what can i do for her?

How far is the tooth broken? How old is your ferret? Is it eating normally?

I'll first say broken teeth are common for ferrets. Ferrets have a habit of chewing on cage bars and trying to make jumps that fail miserably that often result in a broken fang. Luckily ferrets tend to have shallow nerves that recede as they get older. So long as the nerve isn't exposed a quick trip to the vet to get the tooth filed is all that's needed.

If the nerve or soft of the tooth is exposed the ferret WILL have to have it removed. An exposed tooth is easily acceptable to disease and can cause long term heath problems for your ferret. Creating a rather massive pile of vet bills later.

If your ferret is still a kit and hasn't gotten it's adult teeth in yet your vet may do either or nothing and advise you to make sure to keep it's teeth clean and it eats well and bring it in periodically for checkup until it's adult teeth come in to make sure complications don't arise.

Note: In each of these scenarios you need to take it to a vet.

How do I stop my ferret kits food aggression?

I have 2 ferrets- Piper, who is a little over a year old and Stryker, who is 3 months. Within days of bringing Stryker home we started noticing him "hissing" at Piper while he ate his ferret munchies. He didn't bite at her but he was clearly unhappy. The hissing soon went away but his behavior interacting with people around food or toys is still nasty. One day he started dragging my sock under the bed so I scruffed him and he started swinging around trying to bite my hand. He does this with anything he finds. He will bite my phone, my purse, anything he can find, and when I try to pull him away from it he starts "barking" and snaps at me very aggressively. We've done our best to ferret-proof the room but if we leave nothing for him to play with he will start biting the cage bars... from the outside. We were hoping it was just teething but he has lost his baby teeth now. He has been de-wormed so that isn't the problem. I've owned ferrets for 12 years and have never had one that I couldn't train to stop biting fairly quickly. I just don't know what to do because if you try positive reinforcement he attacks you for his reward. Besides the food aggression he plays, cuddles, and Piper loves him. Finding a new home for him is not an option. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

My rabbit lost a tooth... help?

Yous should take him to a rabbit savvy vet. The tooth can came back in crooked and that can lead to more tooth problems later on.
It probably won't cause a problem while it grows back, but you can never be too careful
Rabbit do not lose their teeth like a cat or dog does. They have the same set that just grows continuously.

Is my ferret teething?

So I say this adorable ferret that I m considering getting. I do not know his specific age but he is a defiantly a kit (baby ferret). I noticed that when I was playing with him one of his gums seemed to be bleeding. I scruffed him and looked at his teeth and he was bleeding by one of his lower canniness. I assume that he is teething because he was biting pretty hard, but I want to be sure he is just in case I would need to take him to the vet if I got him.

How can you tell how old a ferret is?

I am also curious on when to bath a ferret. I bath mine every three days or sometimes I wait longer, but she is losing her hair on her back from fleas. If any one has some advice I would love to hear it.

My ferrets keep biting me. Is this normal? and how do i get them to stop?

I had been hoping to get ferrets since the beginning of this year and reseaching for any information i could find on them. then 2 ferrets that i had been looking at for a while went on sale at Today's Pets. The lady at the store said they were 6 or 7 months old. I brought them home with little trouble and got them settled in their cage but the next day when i took them out they started biting me. I tried Bitter Apple and saying "NO" when they bit me but i don't think it was working. After having them for about 3 weeks my mom sent me on vacation. I was away for 3 weeks and my mom was taking care of them. When i came home they were still biting. I think the boy ferret is only playing but the girl will bite down and shake her head and it will take me a few minutes to get her off me. Is it normal for a ferret to hold on like that? Also the girl doesn't like the ferretone or the hairball treatment so how do i get her to take the treatment? and what treats can i give her when she behaves?
