How to get my girlfriend to get her drivers license?
I've been with my girlfriend for about 3 1/2 years. She is 20 years old she has a drivers permit but does not have a drivers license nor does she seem to have any intention of getting one. For the first year of our relationship it really did not bother me that I would always drive her around; but for the past 2 1/2 years I have been telling her to get her license. So for the past 2 1/2 years I've offered to teach her how to drive; offered for her to drive my car and help out in any way possible. For the first year I tried to be nice and encourage her to get her license and show how it would benefit her and make her more independent ect. She basically told me she had no interest in getting her license and she wasn't ready. So after the first year of me asking I was SOO frustrated that being nice and encouraging wasn't getting me anywhere; so I proceeded to get mad and argue with her about it which got me nowhere. She just sits there saying nothing waiting for me to shut up. So I threatened that I would leave her if she didn't get her license because I felt she didn't respect me and appreciate me driving her around 365 days a year. So I set a date, she agreed, and it came and went; she didn't get her license but I didn't leave. So I left it alone for a while thinking that she might take some initiative herself and do it on her own but that never happened. And now I'm like at the point where I can't take it anymore; I mean I love her and I know she loves me but seriously I feel like she doesn't respect me at all. It's not like I'm asking her for much; and it's for her own benefit. I don't understand it; I pick her up take her to school everyday take her home everyday, every night, everywhere we go, everything we've done in 3 1/2 years I've driven!!!!!!!! I taught her how to drive; and she drives perfectly shes not scared, I took it upon myself to get her the questions to study and everything. AND SHE STILL REFUSES TO EVEN TAKE THE LICENSE TEST!!!!!!!!!!! Every time I ask her shes like IDK IDK IDK, then she'll be like in 1 month or 2 months then that just passes just like the other times. What should I do, I've been more than patient and understanding she just blatantly doesn't care.??
Is it wrong for me to want my girlfriend to get her drivers permit so she wont have to depend on others?
Here some background: When I first started talking to this girl she lied to me and said she had a drivers permit and a car. She later admitted that it was a lie. It has been almost 3 years now and we are 21 and she still doesn't have her permit. She is the type of person who plans things a year or so in advance. I told her in May that she needed to get her license because I don't want her to be one of those people who depends on others and the metro to got from place to place. Her mother is kind of sick and I told her she could get to her mother quicker if she had a car and license. So I told her in May that she had to December 31 to get her drivers license and drive to me or I was not coming her way anymore. I told her that we could still go out and do our thing but she would have to get to me.
Would you recommend getting a brand new car for a first time driver?
I've worked in an auto repair shop for 25 years. I've seen lots of families come in and watched their children grow up and become drivers. I have decided one thing. My kids' first cars will be inexpensive used cars. Why? I've seen too many first time drivers who do not know how to take care of their car. Their parents tell them to bring it in for oil change and put it on the parents account. They don't even take the time to bring it in. Then they end up damaging the engine. I've decided that a first time driver can ruin a used car just as quickly as a new one, but the lesson won't be as expensive. When my kids graduate college, I will help them buy a new car.

this same thing just happened to me. she can get up to 93 days in jail, two points on her license, and a 500 dollar fine, but i seriously doubt that will actually happen. i only received a 400 dollar fine, thats it. most of the time the prosecutor will be willing to make a bargain as well, kicking it down to something a little less harsh. its not the end of the world, it's just going to cost her a couple of bucks.
Dating in high school without a drivers license?
Hello, How do you feel about two people dating, but neither of them can drive? I'm 16, she is 15. I get my license in two months and my initial plan was to not start dating again until I could drive, but I'm afraid that if I wait to long to ask the girl I like out (she seems to like me as well) I'll miss out on my chance. Since neither of us can drive, I feel like it could get difficult for us going out on dates, hanging out at each others houses etc. She knows I cant drive yet, but I still cant help feeling like less of a 'man' in the relationship. I know how stupid that sounds, but every guy knows the feeling I think. I really don't want to pull up to her house being driven by my mom, or worse both of us going to a date with one of our parents driving. So how can we make it work? Should I just wait?

How does someone with dyslexia get a drivers license?
Okay, so my girlfriend has dyslexia and does not have a drivers license yet. I know that her dyslexia wont be a problem to her driving because she can easily recognize signs and for that matter, all signs except for street signs were designed with the intent that even if you didn't know how to read you could still recognize them. She also has incredible reflexes so that wont be an issue. Really, the only problem is she can't do the written portion of the test. So how does she get her license? Is there some accommodation that you have to do like make a special appointment? We really need to know this and don't know how to go about finding out this information. HELP!!!!

However once we started dating I told her that just because she had no license didn’t mean she could use me as her chauffeur, I expected that if I was to be the chauffeur then she was to be the maid and the butler to make up for it …..I didn’t want her to be so dependent on me for all of her driving needs so I taught her how to drive and then proudly went with her to buy a car when she was ready. Initially her dad told me that ‘women shouldn’t drive’. That later changed to ‘women shouldn’t drive at night’. Eventually he came around and as he no longer drove himself, he thanked me for teaching her how to drive.
