My Golden Os Really Sick Help

My dog is really sick help please!?

There are lots of things that can cause diarrhea in dogs, from bacterial or viral infections, parasitic infestations or infections, toxins, and so on.
You can find out more about diarrhea in dogs here http://www.the-puppy-dog-place.com/puppy...

If your dog has been having diarrhea for several days, and it's getting worse then he needs to see a veterinarian asap. There are usually 24 hour emergency animal hospitals that will see any pet, whether they've ever been there before or not. I'd strongly suggest that you find the one nearest to where you live and take your dog there.

Whether this is something of life-threatening proportions or not, is impossible to tell without a proper veterinary exam.

If your dog is fully vaccinated, and is still eating and drinking normally, is energetic and seems happy and healthy otherwise, it may not be too serious, but he still needs a diagnosis and may need treatment.

If he seems sick, isn't eating or drinking, is lethargic and not interested in food, treats or games, then he is very unwell and needs emergency help.

You can find more information on dog illnesses and other possible causes for his symptoms below.

Best of luck, I really hope he is feeling much better soon.

My Golden gets car sick, what do I do?

Sometimes they get use to it. Sometimes they don't.

Its actually pretty common for pups to get car sick. Does she ride in the back or front? People who get car sick are better off riding in the front for what ever reason. I would also roll the window down a bit so she can get some air.. Maybe even show her the window and try to make it a pleasant experience for her.

How about trying to sit in the car with her when its parked at home? Get her use to being in the car, bring some treats and just sit there with her. Its a long shot but worth a try.

Does ginger ale really help your throat when you're sick?

I'm not sure about it because it comes in a pop can so the last thing you should drink when you're sick is pop. And people tell me things like "don't drink milk when you're sick, drink some ginger ale." What does it do exactly?

My Golden Retriever is shedding more than usual. Is he sick?

Dogs shed seasonally. No breed should shed year round. Excess shedding is usually due to a lack of specific nutrients like zinc or omega fatty acids. A good dog food with meat as its main ingredient is essential...then adding a good supplement that provides all the good things that are cooked out of commercial dog food will provide the extra nutrients needed for healthy skin and coat.

As a dog ages, his nutritional needs may change. Start with improving nutrition for a couple of months and if he's still shedding excessively, then seek medical advice.

I have a molly fish with red spots. is it sick?

As the above user pointed out, it's likely septicemia. This is a systemic bacterial infection that causes hemorrhaging, which is the red spots you're seeing. However, I would really not suggest Melafix for such a case. Septicemia is obviously a very internal infection, and Melafix is a very mild, external treatment-- it will therefore do little or no good in treating the problem. Instead, I'd recommend something that the fish can easily absorb through the water, like Maracyn 2, Furan 2, Furanase, Kanplex, Neoplex, Triple Sulfa, Trisulfa, Fungus Eliminator (much better against bacteria than fungus), Metronidazole, Hex-Out, Metro+, etc. Be sure to remove any activated carbon from the filter during treatment.

You also need to consider the underlying problem. Septicemia signals that the fish is extremely stressed. Such infections are easily fought off under normal circumstances, but if the immune system is compromised by stress from poor water quality, incorrect parameters, or rapid fluctuations, opportunistic pathogens can set in. First, I'd suggest that you check your water quality-- you should have 0 ppm ammonia and nitrite, and less than 20 ppm nitrate. If any of your levels exceed the above recommendations, I'd suggest you start doing water changes. Make sure the temperature and pH are stable, as well. Lastly, remember that Mollies require very hard water to thrive. They rely on the high levels of calcium and magnesium in the hard water to remain healthy, and when forced to subsist with water lacking in these minerals, are often stressed. If you have particularly soft water, this could be one of the root problems; I'd suggest investing in some Rift Lake salts, which boost GH and KH (which constitute hard water), which you can use at 1/3 to 1/2 the recommended dose.

EDIT: That tank is FAR too small for any fish, let alone Mollies. Are you aware that they'll get upwards of 3"-- in other words, about half the length of the tank? Your water quality is undoubtedly terrible due to the massive overstocking and lack of dilution, and THAT is why your Molly is ill.

My golden retriever keeps coughing and gagging and has been sick twice after his run and drinking his water?

How hot did he get and how cold is the water? Much like kids, if your dog gets really hot on its run, it should be given room tempature water, in small doses at first. Otherwise, really cold water in a really hot dog can cause your dog to vomit.

If its not that hot, and the water wasn't that cold, is it possible that the leash (if one was used) might have choked your dog at some point during the run? That can make animals cough, which can trigger vomiting

Did your dog have any chance during the run to ingest anything he shouldnt have? Im talking plants, garbage, chemical spills from cars or drive ways?

If the answer to all of those is no, or the answer to the third one is yes, contact your vet as there are a number of possibilities that only a professional can sort out and some of them can be serious

PLEASE HELP Sick arowana!?

I just got home from being out all day and my arowana is acting very lethargic all of a sudden. He seems to be weak and wants to just sit on the bottom. I had to turn off the filter because he looked like he was struggling to fight the current. He seems to be breathing normal and no other symptoms. Just moving really slow and weak. Mostly just sitting on the bottom. None of the other fish in the tank are acting strange.

He is in a 130 gallon tank. He is only 8 inches. Water parameters are perfect and temp is 80. He is with some angel fish, several different catfish. He is the only sick acting fish. He is my favorite fish and I own alot of fish. Please help I don't want to lose him. ANY IDEAS????

My betta fish looks sick HELP HELP HELP?

Hi Vincent -
The disease that has gold specks is Velvet.
The gold flake, one on each side, you might have only noticed with the flashlight. His coloring would look different under that light.
You say he isn't scratching, thats good news. I'm really glad you are keeping a watchful eye on him.
Here is a picture of what Velvet looks like.
http://www.petfish.net/articles/Bettas/v...

It's described as a 'dust'.
That picture is a more advanced stage of the disease, so there is alot more than one, but if you are still concerned go to this website for treatment.

My Best,
Angie

8 year old Golden Retriever Sick, stomach keeps gurgurling, vomitting, what could be wrong?

Certainly do not feed her anything. I would just offer her water. It sounds like she got into something bad and ate it.
The garbage, bad food or dead animal would make her sick as you describe.

If she is drinking water I would let her go until morning. But if she isn't drinking water, you should call the Vet tonight and ask him. You don't want her to become dehydraded to the point of needing an I.V. to build her back up.

If she were a small dog I wouldn't tell you to wait until the a.m. but she has enough weight on her that she should be fine with water. Think of where she has been the last couple days and what could have made her sick?

Good Luck. Having a sick dog is as bad as a sick kid. You just don't know what to do to make them feel better.
