My Guinea Pig Hates Floor Time

My guinea pig doesn't like me?

You need to handle your guinea pig alot more. Mine were like this when I first brought them but now they always come out and greet me (especially when I have food). Other than handling alot you can do floor time. This is a great way to get to know your guinea pig. Every day spend 1 hour with your guinea pig, changing between petting (or even brushing, as they find this calming) and running around a pen.

My guinea pig hates floor time?

is his cage big enough, this is often a sing of a cage the is too small. As for just setting there on the floor, lie down on the floor and look at what the guinea pig sees. He sees a world of huge stuff that looks very dangerous to him.

I take these guinea pig to bed with me and let them play beside me on the bed. before long they are running up an down the full length of the bed until they need an nap so they will curl up next to you and sleep! It is a great way for them to get the exercise they need, once the feel more secure about their self you can then transfer them to the floor and about 1/2 of them will take to it and play.

My guinea pig hates me, SERIOUSLY, he hates me.?

My guinea pig seriously hates me. NO, really, he hates me. Whenever he's on my lap, and I pet him, he makes the sound that means he is annoyed. Whenever I give him "floor-time", He doesn't do anything. Only once did he really explore but that's when I put him near the couch and he went under it and when I would try to take him, he would slightly move, so I couldn't touch him. He only pured once. It's been 7 months I have him and he would only squeak the first 2-3. I don't know what to do. Kiko has driven me insane because I bought him thinking I would get a playfull, curious, loyal animal but instead I have one that wants to be fed and left alone. Kiko only popcorned 3 times. I think he grew out of that but what angers me is that all these people claim having great guinea pigs that love to play and be pet but mine simply hates me and wants nothing to do with me. WHY? I need some serious tips because I've read what everyone said and none of it works. This is honestly my last brink of hope. And if you answer with a "maybe" (of which I've seen soooooooooooooooo many times) can you please give many possibilities, not only one?

Thanks

Guinea pig hates being touched?

Whenever I try to pet or pick up my guinea pig, it runs really fast in circles and kicks it's back legs. It's weird because I just had this problem today! Yesterday he didn't mind being picked up or stroked, but today he went all craazy. The only thing that was different was I went to PetSmart and I started using a new type of bedding, it was shredded paper from a brand called Eco Smart. I understand that guinea pigs are prey animals and are naturally shy, but it's just weird because he didn't have a problem with being handled yesterday. He eats out of my hand just fine, and I don't think he's afraid of me. It seems more like he's really annoyed when I touch him. Idk, I thought I had made everything comfortable. This is what I do, tell me if I'm doing anything wrong. Um, so I feed him unlimited Timothy hay, provide fresh water, give him about a quarter cup of pellets a day, and some veggies and fruits (like a handful). I spot clean his cage every day and change his bedding every week or so, using vinegar and water. He didn't get any floor time today because I could pick him up and take him out of his cage. I thought I was doing okay, but tell me if I'm doing anything wrong, that could be the problem! Could it be possible that my piggy is sick? I don't know if there is a skin condition that makes them not want to be petted... So anyways, if any of you have the same problem or know what to do, please answer! Thanks :)

Is it normal for a guinea pig to hate to be lifted?

You must try to help your sweet and friendly guinea pig to overcome her fear of being picked up so that both of you can thoroughly enjoy your time together.Others have already offered some good advice here, but what hasn’t been mentioned yet is the use of the guinea pig “off” switch (as I like to call it). After placing a hand in your guinea pig’s cage, simply press gently down with an open palm on the center of her back, so that her belly is lowered to and touches the floor of the cage. This should be a very small movement of her body, since her legs are so short to begin with.Pressing on her back effectively immobilizes your piggy, thus eliminating her ability to run around the cage in fear while you try to catch her. This removes all the stress of having to be “captured.”Next, while continuing to activate the “off” switch, take your other hand — fingers straight, palm up — and slip or slide it fully under your piggy’s body, so that your pet is now “sandwiched” firmly between your hands. Only now should you begin to lift her, slowly, while shifting your top hand toward her back end so that you cup her rump while continuing with the other hand to support her underside and feet. Never lift her by her soft middle: you must support at least her back pair, if not all four, of her limbs.Talk to your piggy and even try to make eye contact as you lift her toward your chest and bring her fully against your body (rather than walking with your arms outstretched and piggy in the air). Our pig especially enjoys being nestled under my chin as I move about; I think it is where he feels most secure. Thanks for reading this long answer. I hope you and your pig have many enjoyable sessions together!

My guinea pig doesn't like me. Why?

Maybe you are not giving your guinea pig the right kind of attention, go to my You Tube site and view the Towel Trick.

http://www.youtube.com/user/GuineaPigPer...

Wrap your guinea pig in a towel and lie it on your chest (the sound of your heart beat is comforting to it)while you are watching TV reading a book, or watching listening to music, guinea pigs love music. Set it in your lap while you are on the computer, my Miya loves the sound of the key board and purrs to it!! Carry it about the house while you do your day guinea pigs adore doing your day with you. Talk softly to it and pet the towel thus you are petting the guinea pig through the towel.

After about 2 weeks of doing this for 2 hours a day you will have a very calm guinea pig that has bonded to you, you have become its companion and it will be excited to see you come into the room. The real great thing hear is you have achieved this simply by inviting your guinea pig into your daily routine, you did not make any extra time for it.At this point you may not need to use the towel. however, some guinea pigs do become attached to they towel as my Miya did.

Do not bathe your guinea pig, they hate it and they do not need it, if you keep their cage properly clean it is not necessary to bathe them. In fact it is causing damage to their fur and skin.

If you are not changing the bedding any more often due the cost go to my you tub site and view Feed and Seed, in this video i show you now to purchase 12 cubic feet of pine bedding for only $10..00

What do guinea pigs hate the smell or taste of?

A good pet store will have anti chew sprays, bitter apple is my all time success..from bunnies to ratties and puppies ill guarentee success. Another good but more expensive is the anti nail biting liquid found in pharmacies. Also in the treat section of small animals in pet shops sell chewing in different shapes and flavors e.g. carrot. Rodents need to chew voraciously as their teeth keep growing and you will need clip their front teeth….lotta love will be lost unless you use a vet.

How do I know when my Guinea Pig likes me?

Firstly guinea pigs do not hate, that is a human emotion. Guinea pigs will differently like you and even love you but if they do not like you the will simply now want to be with you. When a guinea pig bonds to you it will lie calmly n you, it will purr and make all kinds of sounds when you pet it. it well respond in a relaxed manner to you. A guinea pig that does not like you or is afraid of you will not like quietly on you, it will be trying to get away so the is the main sign.

All guinea pigs will put up a bit of a fuss when you try to pick them up even my little
Suki who I can reach in the cage and pet her at any time but when it comes to picking her up she will protest just a little bit. Always walk slowly to the cage talking softly as guinea pigs have poor eyesight and it takes them some time to recognize you by singe and until they do you are simply the big bad predator coming to hurt them.

Can i vacuum with my guinea pig in my room?

I don't think that would be a good idea, Guinea Pigs get frightened by loud noise, especially if you've only had them for a short amount of time. Why don't you vaccum your room when you put them down for floortime [and I hope you do?]? That's what I do. I put them down for floortime and get my room tidied and their cage clean while they're playing.
