My Gums Are Red And Sore

My gums are sore and red! Help!?

Yeah I used to be the same as you, unfortunately.

I had this same problem, except my gum were bleeding and my breath would smell bad even when I brushed and used mouthwash every morning and evening.so I decided to make an appointment with the dentist. He told me it was because I needed to take more time when brushing my teeth.

He gave me a gum cleaning, which didn't hurt at all, and prescribed me with some Flagyl. When I finished it I got some mouthwash called corsodyl and used it after brushing every 3-4 days for a while just to be on the safe side. Now it's all gone and has showed no signs of returning.

Hope my answer helped you!

My Gums are sore and red? help?!?

You have what is called as gum disease / periodontal disease. One of its sign is a localized swelling, painful and bleeding. You have to see your dentist who will take an x -ray, and do a thorough cleaning of the tooth. He will teach you how to maintain that area(brushing and flossing) and also may prescribe a mouthwash. Getting your teeth cleaned by a dentist is the only permanent solution for the problem, else it keeps recurring and damaging the bone around your teeth.

My upper gums are red and sore?

Err, Its hard to explain. Its sort of feelsl like I have cut that piece of tissue connecting my upper gums to my upper lip. Ands also sore about 2 cm away from it (Sorry I have no idea what its called)

I brush my teeth twice a day, Everyday. And I havn't had a tooth ach, Its not my teeth that hurt, its my gums.
D: Anyone have any ideas on what wrong with them? I rinsed my mouth with Salt-water and it seemed to make the pain go away slightly.

Oh and, It only hurts to put pressure on it...

Thats it. D:

My gums are red and sore!?

Firstly, calm down. Although i cant say for sure as i cant see you, it sounds like gingivits.

The symptoms of gingivitis are somewhat non-specific and manifest in the gum tissue as the classic signs of inflammation:

Swollen gums
Bright red or purple gums
Gums that are tender or painful to the touch
Bleeding gums or bleeding after brushing

Additionally, the stippling that normally exists on the gum tissue of some individuals will often disappear and the gums may appear shiny when the gum tissue becomes swollen and stretched over the inflamed underlying connective tissue. The accumulation may also emit an unpleasant odor. When the gingiva are swollen, the epithelial lining of the gingival crevice becomes ulcerated and the gums will bleed more easily with even gentle brushing, and especially when flossing.

Keep brushing your teeth normally, flossing and using normal mouthwash and it will go with time. If it's particularly stubborn your dentist may be able to issue you with a mouthwash with high concentrations of hydrogen peroxide, which isn't usually available in shops.

Gingivitis is caused by bacterial plaque, which acts to initiate the body's host response. The plaque accumulates in the small gaps between teeth, in the gingival grooves and in areas known as plaque traps: locations that serve to accumulate and maintain plaque. Although these accumulations may be tiny, the bacteria in them produce chemicals, such as degrative enzymes, and toxins, such as lipopolysaccharide (LPS, otherwise known as endotoxin) or lipoteichoic acid (LTA), that promote an inflammatory response in the gum tissue. This inflammation can cause an enlargement of the gingiva and subsequent pseudopocket formation.

My gum is red around one of my teeth, and it's very sore. What's causing this?

I have had this problem a few days ago,you may have a abscess on your tooth or root. A tooth abscess or root abscess is pus enclosed in the tissues of the jaw bone at the tip of an infected tooth. Usually the abscess originates from a bacterial infection that has accumulated in the soft pulp of the tooth. This is usually, but not always, associated with a dull, throbbing, excruciating pain.A tooth abscess typically originates from dead pulp tissue, usually caused by untreated tooth decay, cracked teeth or extensive periodontal disease. A failed root canal treatment may also create a similar abscess. What you can do to heal it is.....either gargle w/ warm salt water, or you could always place a tea bag on that area inside of your mouth. I did both of these, and they worked really well. I went to the dentist a few days ago, and I had to be put on antibodies to allow the infection to go away before any dental work could be preformed. Just remember, to not put your fingers back there, but your fingers harvest germs, and this will only cause it to swell even more. Get to the dentist right away, and in the meantime, gargle w/ warm water and salt....

good luck!

There's a sore or a tiny hole in the gums behind my molars. What could it be?

If its perisiting for a long period of time, Ot could be a sinus opening. A drainage of pus originating elsewhere. Usually the adjacent tooth. Get a professional help.

Sore gums from retainer?

take off the retainer for awhile!

My cat keeps sneezing, has sore (red) gums and has eye dark red eye mucus, and pinker lower eye lids. Is he seriously sick or just under the weather?

This could be related to a virus your cat has already got it when she was a kitten or something similar to upper respiratory system disease which may be caused by a virus or bacteria.I would not wait until the condition get worse. There is a virus called herpes virus which survive with the pet lifelong. This virus may survive without causing any symptoms. When immune system gets weaker due to a stressful event or bacterial infection this virus may jump out of his bed and cause eye ,nose and mouth problems in the porter animal.Unfortunately there is no proven treatment for this disease but we can control the symptoms with antiviral drugs and some OTC products.I hope this helps

Can teeth clenching cause my sore gums?

Yes,absolutely .Teeth clenching and night grinding (bruxism) can cause sore gums and teeth. The forces on the teeth and the periodontal ligament which surrounds the tooth and anchors it to the bone is exquisitely sensitive as it contains numerous pressure receptors. In the presence of inflammation ,it can seriously aggravate an existing infection and lead to bone loss and deterioration of the supporting structures of the teeth.A dentist with some sophistication in occlusion should be consulted.Store bought appliances are not properly balanced to the forces of your bite and can cause harm to the mouth and the temporomandibular joint.

What causes red gums to appear around one tooth?

Gums turn RED When infection sets in. The gum infection is usually because of plaque and calculus accumulation in between teeth and gums.Thorough brushing might some times help you get rid of it. If even after a weeks time of proper oral hygiene red gums don't disappear then please visit a neighbouring Gum specialist and get Gum Treatment done.( Koramangala , Bengaluru)
