My Headphones Wont Work When I Plug It Into The Usb Drive The Laptop Recognizes It But No Sound

Borrow a pair of bluetooth headphones and see if you can pair them and listen. If so, buying a bluetooth headset might be your easiest (and probably cheapest) solution, and get rid of one cable in your life. One thing to try first is to try to blow out any lint or dirt in the jack that may be causing problems and getting jammed in further whenever you plug the earphones in again. Also try rotating the plug and manipulating the wire near the plug to see if you might have an intermittent wire connection that might be solved by a new earphone. You can also confirm this by plugging in a different pair of regular headphones that are know to be working properly. You don't specify the phone, but you could also look at the online site iFixit,  The Free Repair Manual to see the difficulty of replacing the jack in your particular phone (and the price of the parts required, with photos of all the steps). If it looks like your jack or connecting cable has failed (not uncommon in many phones) there may also be local repair people who can fix it inexpensively - this is becoming quite a little income-booster for tech-savvy people without needing a storefront. Check your local Craigslist (if you have one) to see just how many!

Headphones wont work when plugged into the computer?

Ok I love to watch movies at night, but can't as my folks are asleep. I would watch them on my computer, but for some reason my headphones wont work. I plug them into the front of my computer where I see the headphone icon. I know the volume for the speaker is all the way up as that is all I hear. I have no sound coming out of my headphones. I know they work as I have a mp3 player. any advice?

How do I make my laptop recognize my ipod when I plug it into a USB port?

install itunes to put music on the ipod.

if you don't have itunes installed, then XP (if u'r using XP) [actually I think Vista should work the same way....] well in any case your PC recognizes it as an external hard drive so go to ur 'My Computer' and check all the Removable Disc drives. if you named your ipod then that drive will have the name of your ipod.

C: and D: drives are usually your system drives, so check all the other letters

Why won't my laptop recognize my external hard drive when i plug it into the usb port?

Your computer might not be detecting it for one reason or another.

If you have a PC. Right-click on "My Computer" or "Computer" and go to "Manage"

Then choose Disk Management. See if it recognizes the drive there. Usually as "Disk 1". If you look at the top part, you can right-click and choose "Change Drive Letter and Path". Make sure that you assign a letter and check in My Computer to see if the drive shows up.

My headphones don't work when plugged into my computer?

Very very very few sound cards know when something is plugged into the headphone jack or not. (With some laptops they are now detecting plugs in the mic jack, and they let you select microphone or line input, but not the headphone jack)

I suspect that what you are seeing is actually a notice that there are no sound devices instaled in your computer. Meaning, there is nothing behind that headphone jack.

If it's a PCI or PCI-Express sound card, try reseating it in its slot. (Power the machine off first) Reboot and check device manager (windows-R, devmgmt.msc) and see if the sound card is there. If it shows up with yellow !'s you need to find and update the driver.

My computer doesnt recognize headphones!?

Like, do the headphones work?
Headphones will not appear on the devices list, just as speakers don't, they are not a part of the computer systems devices, like the sound card (or integrated sound chip) is.

Like, where on your comp are you plugging them in? Is it a head phone jack? Go to Control Panel, Sounds, and look for setting that may enable headphones. Otherwise, like, I'm hornswoggled.

How Do You Use Headphones When Plugged Into A Computer?

it should be automatic. but if it's not, which obviously seems the case, try going into the Volume Manager and make sure it isn't muted or anything and make sure the output is through your headphone port (it should say)

if that isn't working, then your headphone port might be shot.

and dude, capitalizing every single word. doesn't that get tiresome?

Headphones don't work when computer is plugged into tv?

I stay at my boyfriend's house a lot, and I like to take my computer with me. However, I do not have a laptop, so I bring my desktop's system unit and plug it into his flat screen tv. I usually just play sound through the tv itself, but sometimes I want to listen to it with headphones. When I plug them into the headphone jack on the computer though, no sound comes out. It keeps coming through the tv. I checked the tv as well, and it doesn't have a headphone jack on it. I was wondering why this is so, and if there was something I could do to fix it.

Computer not recognizing headphones/mic?

I recently got a headset that is both headphones and a mic, but I can't get the mic half of it working. It has a 3.5mm jack so I plugged it in on the back of the tower in the audio input, as I would rather the mic, but it doesn't work. A little display comes up labeled "AudioESP" and it asks what I just plugged into the blue port. I select microphone and continue and it tells me my microphone has been correctly connected, but it doesn't work. The mic isn't recognized in any of the advanced audio options, Skype, or audio recorder. All the audio options are SoundMAX Audio HD with no other option. I tried going in control panel and unmuting the mic option, but there is no mic recognized to unmute. Does anybody have any idea how to get my computer to recognize the device?

P.S.- (I'm not too sure how much it matters, but my USB webcam[with mic built-in] is recognized as an audio recording option. I don't know if that is relevant. I'm not much of a computer person.)
