I hate high school. I have a tiny circle of friends but some of them just don't even talk to me anymore. How do I not hate everything?

If you really hated high school and everything else, then you wouldn’t be sitting there rolling in your own frustration. You’d be going outside for a cup of coffee or whatever and enjoying the weekends away from what I assume most people call “hell”.Be confident in yourself for a change. Your friends would be lucky to have you if they really cared.Tell you what, don’t go looking for friends if you can’t keep your mind to yourself. Chances are, better people will step in your way.Plus, not everyone stays the same throughout highschool. You won’t be graduating with the same group of friends. Let them go. They need to change as well.In the meantime, try not to stick you soul to them. Their attitude to you doesn’t determine what kind of person you are or will be. Just let things unfold.Find things that you enjoy doing. Put your energy things that make you happy.Don’t waste your hatred on people that are meant to come and go.

Is it safe for a high school student to drink monster energy drink?

The market will sell it to you. I think you should stay away from those kinds of drinks. They have been shown to make your heart race and raise your blood sugar. I almost took my 15-yr-old to the ER because his heart was racing so fast and his pupils were extremely tiny. He was scared, as was I. He won't drink them anymore.

Pace yourself and study in spurts instead of doing a late-night marathon study. You will do better on your test tomorrow AND you will feel more rested. A tired mind does not test well.

Good luck tomorrow!

My parents don't let me go chill out on my own and I feel caged. What should I do?

Hello there...I believe I am fit to write the answer as I have suffered, if not as bad a situation, but close enough one.In my college time, I had to ask for permission to go anywhere, while all or most of my friends doesn't even tell their parents they're going out. But seeking permission wasn't my problem at all.I was given a bike , my choice of it of course, but every time I had to take it out, I had to suffer a lecture + fear injection of how I may get killed or get badly hurt in a bike. From my house, the beach is just 5 KM away and I really like going there especially at night at around 8. I love the solitariness. I'll have just one or two other friends with me. I used to come back by 10 o'clock max. I start out late because when I reach home after college it'll be 7.30 PM. I was barred from going out after a few occasions. So weekdays were just college and home for me. Even on weekends, 7 in the evening was the time limit. Never in my four years of college had I stayed in any of my friends home at night or chilled out.I got teased by a lot of friends. It was in college I started enjoying the outdoors but I wasn't fortunate enough. This made me hate my parents. I didn't like coming home at all. I suppressed all my anger, frustration, sadness. I never did anything which almost all of my friends did. I didn't smoke. I never drank. I never went on an unplanned long ride/drive anywhere. I haven't seen how 2 at night looks like outside. The sad part. I recently came to know that they prevented me from going out because they were convinced that was a drunkard. Yes, you read it right.I don't talk a lot at home. I'm quite the silent type.  But I never came home where I was lost out of my senses. Ive always behaved normally. If you have read till this, I want to say that don't lose your time arguing with your parents for they won't bow down for you. Be content with what you have. Get a job outside your city. Enjoy as much you want. As for me I still stay with my parents. I have a job with a little salary. The good part, my parents don't define any limits anymore. Even if they do , I wouldn't care anymore. I've nothing against them, I do take care of them but I wont be chained by them.Patience..... Peace

McDonald's coffee - Cups they will refill?

I brought in my travel mug and asked for a cup of coffee and put my cup on the counter (hadn't been in a McDonald store in awhile). The lady looked at my cup but then got their own styrofoam cup and put coffee in it. Is there anyway to reuse cups rather then putting another styrofoam one in the garbage EVERY time you buy a cup of coffee?! Better yet, is there a way of doing that and paying less because they aren't out the expense of a cup.. like gas station have a cheaper refill cup price. Is there a cup I can buy that is McDonalds approved? Anybody have solutions for me? I really like McDonald's coffee now, but at $2+ a large cup... well, it's kinda expensive. Is there a monthly coffee club (pay a monthly fee and you get free/discounted coffee, etc)? I am a truck drivers wife and we go together, so it's always different locations. BTW I love coffee... I like it hot, strong, and fresh.. I've been getting some rather old coffee at some McDonalds, and some that is thin as dirty water (with that bitter taste that says they reran the grounds)... I don't know what do to, but at $2+ a cup I feel like I'm getting ripped... what to do...

What do you think about children drinking coffee?

Well... we don't drink coffee, caffeine, etc. So the idea makes me cringe. It's an addictive substance and a child's brain is growing so much during the first 3 years and then during the teen years that the idea of it growing while influenced by an addictive substance... that's not an experiment I want to do with my kids. 2nd and 3rd links are what I'm talking about, though the third is more about a teen who drank too much coffee and was put into a life-threatening situation. She drank like 10 espressos though. But if a child is growing up drinking it and thinking it's normal to drink, then what's to stop them from drinking energy drinks to get the energy they want in Highschool to deal with stress and tests? The normal coffee won't give them much of a buzz by then.

But there's plenty of research saying it's not that bad for people. *shrugs* It's still not something I'm going to do, I hate how addicted people are to caffeine. I know far too many people who can't function without their morning coffee and look surprised at the idea of going without it.

For the record, we don't cut out theobromine (ie, chocolate) because that's not the same thing as caffeine and affects the body differently than caffeine. So I'm fine with them having chocolate. (See last 2 links.) It's just whenever I answer a question like this someone always says "well, do you keep chocolate from them!" as if that shows I give them caffeine.

How do I skip school without the school getting with my parents?

In order to protect children who may have been abducted on their way to school, most schools are required to call home if a child does not report to school by a certain time.Schools will not call home under one condition: they have received a call or notification from parents providing a valid reason as to why their child will not be attending school that day.I suggest:Calling in sickKeep the illness vague (ie ‘not feeling well,’ ‘headache,’ etc.)Do not use a serious illness (ie ‘strep throat,’ ‘head lice,’ ‘the flu,’ etc.) because these may: cause the school to ask for a doctor’s note, force you to stay home more days than you intend to, send out a school wide notice that there is a head lice break out, or simply call back and inquire more about your illnessUse your parent’s phone or home phone if you can, then delete the call history. They have your parent’s phone numbers on file.If you fear they may call your parents back later in the day for any reason, risk using your own phone or dial *67 before you type in your school’s number. This will make it so that your caller id and number will read “unknown” and they can’t call you back. Though this may be suspicious.Avoid funeralsUsually they don’t bother asking this if you just miss one day, but they could ask for validation which is very hard to fake. A simple google search can prove that there was no obituary. You’ll get unwanted condolences from your teachers and even your counselor may try and make sure you’re ok. It’s very difficult to lie and not feel guilty. It’s just morally wrongAvoid saying you were on vacation or out of townSome schools do not approve this as an excused dayToo complex, too many ways to be caught in a lieThe easiest choice is to call in sick. Each state has individual laws as to how many sick days in a row/per month/per year a child can miss without a doctors note. If you have not surpassed this number of days, your school should accept a simple: “Hi I’m Jill Smith, John Smith’s mother. John is not feeling well today and will not be coming to school. Thank you!”If you know your school requires doctor’s notes, you will have to look deeper into forging this and you are at risk for being caught. You will need your doctors contact information and a blank doctors note you can find online. They do have complete authority to call the doctor and confirm your illness, which makes this risky.
