Boot problem with my HP laptop (pavilion dv6815nr, 3 months old, Vista Home Premium SP1)?!?
The beeps proabably are coming from the PC's POST check - which makes sure the motherboard is working and everything connected. Chances are your memory modual is a bit loose inside and needs re-seating. If you know what bios you are using you should be able to find out what 2 beeps mean. check out http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docum... It's still under warranty so might be better to ring them up and ask
Why won't my hp g60 127nr laptop boot up?
Your OS appears messed up. Here are your options: 1. Repair OS using the OS installation CD. Your files will remain intact. 2. Do a recovery. This brings you back to factory settings and erases all files and installed application software. 3. Reformat and do a clean install. This is the favorite procedure of most lousy technicians.
Laptop will not boot up (hp pavillion dv1000)?
Two possible fixes. 1. At boot-up look for the 3 white letter guides at the bottom of the screen. A. F2 - BIOS ( Lets you into the system BIOS ) B. F10 - SETUP ( Lets you into the system setup ) C. F11 - System Recovery * Not sure if those are exact but they will be there 2. If you want to recover your system there are two choices. A. Non-Destructive Recovery ( Reloads the original Windows System over your present one & leaves your files and programs alone ) B. Destructive Recovery ( Formats your C: Drive completely and reloads the computer to the state it was when you bought it ) Thats why you have a C: D: & E: Drive on your HP. The C: is your main drive, the D: is your recovery drive and the E: is in all probability your CD or DVD drive. Sarge

My laptop's (hp pavilion g6-2136tx) hard drive makes a clicking sound whenever I boot it up and I get the message "Boot device not found". What should I do?
Try plugging it in a machine as a secondary drive. I'm saying this because the other machine will boot off its already existing drive and (hopefully) this will be recognised as a secondary drive just like a pen drive or any external storage media and you should be able to get data off of it. Or if this doesn't work, then put the drive in the freezer (so the metal contracts) and then follow the paragraph above. If this also doesn't work, then say bye-bye to the drive or pay thousands by giving it to professionals who can place the platter on another drive's motor and get the data back.
Need help installing Linux Ubuntu on HP Vista Laptop?
u sure the CD is okay? u should check if the md5 hash of the iso image is correct, to make sure the iso isn't corrupt. Use this to test the iso http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/File... for ubuntu-7.10-desktop-i386.iso the md5 hash should be d2334dbba7313e9abc8c7c072d2af09c If yours is not, you should try to download the .iso once more. Also, did you remember to burn the iso at low speed? You don't need to partition the drive to run the LiveCD. Nor do you need to partition the drive in Windows prior to starting the install, as Ubuntu has its own partitioning tools, and will ask you how you would like to partition your drive during install..
