My Inheritance Is Being Stolen

My sister has stolen my inheritance. What would you do if you were in similar circumstance?

Forgive her. It's also a patent’s right to give an inheritance to one child and sometimes but the other child out of it. It wasn't her choice. Your parents made that call —right or wrong. Don't hold it against her. Let it go.She is your flesh and blood. Love and family means more than material possessions. Sorry your parents had to create this wedge between you two after death. I am sure they had reasons for this request. Perhaps they mistakenly thought you had a boyfriend or spouse helping you but she was all alone and had no one else. You won't ever know the reasons why. So let it go. As you age, she will need you and you will need her. Don't let your parents actions keep a wedge between you both. Good luck.

My sister stole my inheritance money?

My sister stole my inheritance money. She opened a joint account online without my permission and used all my money. I called the bank and they said they cant do anything about it.

Stolen Inheritance...what do I do?

Back in 2003 my grandfather died and left me a hefty amount of money. Anyways, i was still in high school, but I was 18 which was enough for me to get the money. I did not have a bank account at the time, so my mom said she'd put it in the bank. Anyways I graduated and when I asked her for the money so I can start paying for school, she said that she spent it ALL. Am I in trouble for willingly giving it to her? My younger sister got all of her money when she turned 18, and she spent it all on drugs, not school or anything productive, so that really pissed me off. Lately she has been telling me to just forget it because I will not be getting it anytime soon. She was a single mom when I was growing up, so she makes me feel bad for her having to care for us, so she feels that was a good amout of money to pay her back. I'm pretty pissed still at her...but I guess I was just wondering what I can do. I'd feel bad if I sued her, but I don't know....anyways any comments will help thanks

How do I go on if my inheritance was stolen by my step-parent, and that's all I had to look forward too?

The relationship to the deceased will play a factor, among others in the options, you have available. In many cases, intestacy rules do not cover stepfamilies unless the deceased formally adopted the child. Only a spouse, blood relative or adopted child can inherit and therefore contest a will. However, we would always recommend seeking the advice of a solicitor because every circumstance is specific to the individual. They will be able to advise you on the potential options available and inform you if you have a case. You can find out more about who can dispute wills, time limits and the grounds to contest a will here.

My aunt stole my inheritance. Should I pursue legal remedies and retrieve my entitlement?

Far, far too little information to provide any meaningful answer.  If a potential client were to come to me with this kind of problem, I'd need to know:The size of the estate.  Legal work is expensive.  Basic cost-benefit issue. The text of the will/trust.The exact facts on which you base your claim.ALL the relevant documents.Who was the executor/trustee of the estate, and is he/she represented by counsel.  Almost certainly I'd need more than that, but this would be a starting point. In most cases where a potential client has told me that he/she has this sort of a claim, the claim has either been without merit or not worth pursuing.   See a qualified lawyer to discuss your issue.  If there is a lawyer referral service avaiable to you, you may be able to get an inexpensive consultation to determine if there's anything worth pursuing.

What happens if you find out your inheritance is actually stolen money? For example, your parents were unconvicted bank robbers.

Nothing. Well at least nothing until someone takes you to court on a civil basis. As you said, the money is an inheritance, so the person giving you the money is dead. Dead person cannot be convicted of a crime, so there's no proof that the money was stolen. Therefore you cannot be in trouble for handling stolen property. However, if the owner if the money finds out that his stolen money has been passed to you, he sure would do anything he can to try to get the money back. That would mean a civil lawsuit.

Conned out of inheritance?

My stepmother has basically stolen my inheritance, she got her cousin to administrate my fathers estate, they did not let me or my sisters see any of my fathers documents or paperwork and have now issued cheques. Can I do anything or has my scheming step-mother got far more than she deserves?

Should I retain a lawyer for my inheritance?

No. Lawyers do not deal with “assumptions,” they deal with facts. You need actual evidence that suggests your uncle has mishandled or misappropriated money that is being held in trust for you.Once you have evidence, then you should retain a lawyer who specializes in family law, trusts and estates.Obtain a copy of your grandmother’s will and see if the Trustee has been carrying out the instructions contained in it. If not, retain a lawyer.

My aunt stole my inheritance and my father's belongings?

If you have the will, then you should go see a lawyer.
