My Knee Hurts Really Bad And I Didnt Do Anything To It

My knee hurts really badly?

Kind of depends on where the pain is. But if you really do a lot of kneeling or squatting it's possible that you've strained the muscles around your knee or even strained the ACL (Anterior Cruciat (sp) Ligament) A rather common injury amongst athletes but anyone can have it. The ACL can heal on it's own if the injury isn't bad.

Also remember that not all pain is really coming from where you're feeling it. If you have a nerve being pinched in your back that can cause pain anywhere in your body and it will feel like the pain is coming from that place even though it's being caused by a problem in your spine.

I fell on my knee badly. It isn't red anymore but it still hurts badly. Should I go to the doctor?

A direct blow to the kneecap (patella) can be very painful. You can either bruise it badly, sustain a fracture to the patella, or rupture the pre patellar bursa. In all cases the immediate reaction is intense pain, followed by swelling and bruising with limited mobility. If you fell and had a direct blow to your kneecap, but the bruising is diminished but still having pain you could still have one of the tree conditions i had mentioned. above. A bone bruise of the patella can last for 4–6 weeks until you pain goes away. If it is just a superficial bruise this usually last a week or so. If you fractured the pain will linger and will not get better. Especially depending on how displaced fracture fragments are. If you rupture the bursa this can present with a swelling over the kneecap sometimes getting to be as big as a golf ball. In any case the directness of the trauma can cause limited range of motion A fracture will not heal properly unless it is mobilized. If there is significant displacement which can become ruptured causing intense pain swelling specifically to the front of the patella. In any of the described situations above, I would recommend you followup with either a orthopedic doctor or your primary care doctor where they can properly examine your knee. If there is suspicion for a fracture then getting an x-ray is the next step to rule out any fracture or an MRI to determine if any internal derangement is present. Whatever the case regarding your knee condition this forum is not appropriate to make a diagnosis but rather it is purely for educational purposes. Since your knee continues to hurt despite the fact that redness is gone you need to follow up with your primary care doctor or an orthopedic surgeon.

At night there is this ache in my knee and it really hurts every night ...?

You didn't say whether you were into any sports which may be causing the pain or inflammation in your knee. Try Advil or Alieve.
They should help with the inflammation. If it persists see an Orthopedist.

How badly does being shot in the knee hurt?

"Have you ever been shot in the knee? If so, how bad did it hurt?"Oddly enough, I can answer this question. It was a negligent discharge from the Marine next to me, seconds after I informed him that he should point the barrel of his M16A2 away from me and keep trigger discipline.-"Sorry, ma'am, won’t happen aga..." BLAM!The detonation made everybody jump, even me. When I went to take a steadying step, my leg failed to respond and I fell down; the bullet had passed right through my left knee, shattering my patella and pulling apart the ligaments of the knee joint. To be truthful, at the moment, I was unaware that I'd been shot; the shock was such that I was more concerned with the scrapes on my hand and elbow when I fell. After a minute or so with several US Marines (God bless 'em!) immediately tending to the injury, I started feeling what I can only describe as a "hollow burning" coming from the whole leg... except the foot, which felt cold... not numb, just cold, like when you put on leather shoes with no socks. As I was being loaded into the ambulance, the pain evolved; you know how it is when you are sitting in a very uncomfortable position for a long time — without your legs getting numb? You want to desperately straighten your leg, but you can't. Well, it was just like that; it felt like my leg was being bent backwards to the point where it would break if any more pressure is applied, but I could see clearly that my leg was straight. After that... Well, military-grade painkillers are pretty darn good.Recovery was one cast-iron bitch; I needed three surgeries and years of therapy, got a replacement knee (which is a ton of fun every time I have to go through a metal detector), and one leg nearly two inches shorter than the other. My weather-detecting knee rivals NOAA's predictions, and I get to use canes as fashion accessories for the rest of my life.Needless to say, that was the end of my military career.Update:For those wondering, the Marine in question was not discharged; he got a permanent mark on his record, underwent corrective training, then went on to serve honorably in the first Desert Storm, receiving an honorable discharge soon after, meaning that after the incident, he was an exemplary Marine. Also, for the record, I was in the US Navy at the time, not the USMC.

Could the way I walk be why my knee hurts?

Yes. A friend of mine had really bad knees. He iced them every day. When he became old enough to qualify for knee replacements, his doctor opined that his hips were worse and said those need to be replaced before the knee. After his hips were replaced, his knee pain disappeared. While engaged with physical therapy, his therapist noticed that his shoulders didn’t rotate contrary to his hips. When he was a teen, my friend fell from a roof and injured his shoulder. Back in those days there wasn’t much they could do so he lived with the injury and shoulder impairment. Because his shoulder was not working properly with the hips, it put strain on the hips which was straining the knees.Quite possibly, if he were able to have his shoulder fixed in his youth, it would have spared his hips and knees of improper wear and tear.Wear and tear isn’t always what we think it is. Consider a bent frame of a car. You may not know your frame is bent but you may notice that there is a vibration or the tires wear quickly. A dumb mechanic may just think you have bad tires and replace them. But, they are a symptom of a greater invisible problem which requires detective work.Take carpal tunnel syndrome or median nerve entrapment. People and doctors think it is overuse but in reality is is misuse. A common cause is when people type or play piano and they abduct and flex their fingers simultaneously. Nobody ever tells the person to stop flexing and stretching at the same time, instead, they treat the symptoms with drugs, splints, rest and surgery. Likewise, nobody ever tells the person to type or play the piano with gravity rather than the flexors. Instead they blame overuse and ignore that the problem or symptom is caused by misuse, stupidity or ignorant teachers.People are dumb. Doctors who treat symptoms are dumb. Yes, I am very angry about this topic. Our physical education teachers fail us. Piano teachers fail us. Doctors fail us. Pharmaceutical companies abuse us. The cure for misuse has been around for thousands of years but we just want a pill to fix it and teachers who don’t have the answers refuse to seek solutions to their ignorance. They just double down.RUN FOR THE HILLS.

Pimple on my knee hurts like a ... ?

For the past 2-3 days my knee had this thing looked like a misquito bite, I ignored it. Then last night It was bigger, I scratched it and it hurt so i didn't touch it. Today, I found out it's a pimple. It's really bugging me, You can't touch it without it hurting. I told my mom it might be an infection and she said not to worry about it and just pop it when it's ready. I told her how it's not normal for a pimple to be on my knee, and she said the same thing.
I'm really worried, What if it's an infection? Should i pop it?

Knee hurts worse after MRI?

I'm a 16 year old girl, average height and weight, if that matters. Two months ago I tripped over a curb and landed hard on my left knee. It didn't swell and there was only a tiny bruise at the base of my knee, but it aches all the time. The pain is pretty bad and the doctor first thought that I had fractured my shin because I was bruised there. X-rays came back negative, so she assumed that I had messed up the meniscus. MRI says I stretched a ligament (I didn't get the details of the result and I go back to see the doctor on Wednesday). I had the MRI on Friday (3 days ago) and since then my knee has hurt more and it constantly feels like it's about to buckle and give out. It is much more uncomfortable than it had been before the MRI.
What could cause this?

Really bad pain in my knee? it feels like a horrible bruise? someone please answer?

alright so i'm a dancer, so its completely normal for me to have bruises everywhere, so i felt one on my knee a few days Ago and didn’t really think anything of it because I always feel bruises on my knees, but after like a few days it was hurting a lot like even if you’re hardly touching it I could still feel it. So I look at my knee but there’s no mark there or anything at all, you can’t see a bruise. & also it hurts a lot more than a normal bruise. Can anyone please help me? Does anyone know what this means, and how to fix it? Thanks.

I landed on my leg straight and now my knee hurts?

I was doing a parkour vault and I landed with my right leg straight. It hurt a lot at the moment it happened and I couldn't walk and then after about a minute it didn't hurt but it felt really weak and I couldn't walk properly. About five minutes later I started to feel a throbbing sensation and it got more painful. Ten minutes later I tried to bend it and I have my full range of motion but it hurts when completely straight and feels tight when I bend it all the way. There is mild to medium pain when I'm not doing anything. What is it?

When I landed, I may have felt something crack, but I'm not completely sure so try not to base your answer on this unless there are other symptoms that correspond with what you think it is.
