My Laptop Fan Makes Weird Noises.

My laptop fan is making a weird noise??

Something might have gotten sucked up into the fan, or perhaps there's just a lot of dust build up. You can try getting some of that can air from the computer store and blast the vents in your computer. Either that or you could try to take it apart and see if you can see anything in there. If the fan's making noise that means it's still turning and cooling your computer.

Why is my laptop making a weird noise?

My laptop makes a really annoying noise most times and it when it's making the noise programs seem to run horribly. It's kinda hard to describe, but it's loud and kinda like a fan that's vibrating. Yahoo answers wouldn't allow me to post the sound and my laptop is driving me insane because I cannot do much of anything on it. Please help

Fan is making a noise on the laptop?

I dropped my laptop and the fan is making a louder noise than usual (it still seems to be working ok just making a noise), any ideas what the problem would be with it, will i need to replace the fan or can it be fixed? I don't have a warranty on it.

My laptop is making a really weird noise?

I know it's not the fan because once I turn the volume off, the noise stops too.
It sounds like a ghost almost, or even alien spaceship like, haha.
But does anyone know what it is?

SMOKE came out of my laptop? Making a weird noise?

Are you sure it was smoke and not dust? If it was dust, your laptop may have overheated. If it really was smoke, the laptop is probably fried, so there's no harm in turning it back on to see if you can get it working again.

Before turning it on, try this - blow air into the vents to dislodge any dust... this might be what is causing the fan to make a strange noise. If you don't have a can of air, use your lungs. A quick forceful puff right up against the vents ought to force the dust out - it'll probably make quite a dust cloud. Repeat this over all of the vents until dust stops coming out - and be careful not to get anything wet.

There is a slim chance that the dust blocked airflow enough for the processor to overheat and crack under the stress. Or, even if it wasn't caused by dust, there may be another failed component... you may just need to get a new laptop. You can usually extract the hard drive and put it in an "external drive enclosure" so you can get your data from your new laptop.

If it's just the fan that's failed (maybe a fan blade broke off), the computer probably won't stay on very long before it overheats (usually a blue screen)... You can try to back up the files in whatever amount of time you have before it overheats. A repair shop should be able to replace the fan fairly easily.
Good luck!

Laptop fan isn't making a noise...?

The fan's connection may have come loose. To fix this, push the connector back into the socket until it is tightly seated. If something large is stuck in the fan's blades, carefully remove it until it spins freely.

Sniff the fan. If there was an electrical short, it will smell burned or singed. In this case, the fan must be replaced. If the wires of the fan look frayed or melted, don't attempt to replace or repair them. Install a new fan.

Fan replacement does not always solve the problem. There may be a malfunction on your computer's motherboard, such as a faulty temperature sensor, which prevents the CPU from properly controlling the fan. The click your hearing is probably the fan trying to start up, but cant.

What should you do when your laptop starts making weird noises and emitting a smoke-like substance?

If the noise and smoke is coming from the side where the exhaust fan is there (it must be from that side as there is only one movable and noise making part inside most laptops - the tiny exhaust fan, apart from the HDD which is sealed pretty securely) then it is likely that your fan has been smoked. Something must be obstructing its free rotation or simply the bushing has developed some defect like most electric motors do. In most cases the plastic insulation gives away or melt down, producing those mysterious 'smoke'.Don't worry, a fan is not going to cost you a fortune. But be careful until you open it up yourself or visit the local technician, as it may damage otherĀ  nearby components.

Laptop making a weird buzzing noise at the fan part.?

Try to understand what makes that noise, is it over spinning or do you think there is something which is blocking or touching the wings of the fan.

The Noise of the fan is sign of two possible reasons.

1. As it over heats or at startup the process that runs or execute are ample and hence needs more consumption of resources and there is why the fan may spin speed and make noise.(this is normal and the fan is expected to slowdown later) - I understand this is not your case.

2. The laptop must have been moved abruptly that the fan or the some areas close to it has got misaligned and hence the loud noise.

I suggestions for you taking care of the above things and your situation.
1.You may want to consider taking backup of your data in case you need to give it to the vendor if this lasts long.
2. Try updating Bios of the laptop as usually the machines are new but not recently built, and hence the latest BIOS than to the one installed may be available, (btw BIOS stands responsible for the fan speed controlling, and also will take care of lot more things all together.)
Specially the Fan speed will also take care of the heat dissipation process, and will effectively improve on noise issue.
3. try to tap your laptop not too hard to see if the noise settles down.

Hope this helps...

Why is my laptop making weird noises and making cold air?

Yesterday my laptop fan made a weird whine noise for a few minutes and when I sat it down on my bed, it made like a clacky noise. I have not had my computer for long and I have not made any mods on it or ever took it apart or replaced anything. Now today, it's really cold and is only making cold air when usually it makes a lot of hot air coming from the fan. I don't even hear any noise coming from the fan, but there is noise like it's running...or maybe that's the computer. I got speedfan and it says HDO: 31C Temp1: 38C and Core: 38C . I don't know if that helps any...But anyway, if anyone could tell me why this is happening and what I should do, would really help me out. Thank you in advance.

I have a Compaq Presario CQ62-220US Notebook, processor: AMD Athlon II P320 Duel-Core Processor, 3 GB Ram, I don't know what else to put...anything else you need to know just let me know. Thanks again...
