My Laptop Fell On My Big Toe And It Turned Blue

Dropped laptop on toe...is it broken?

So last night I dropped a laptop on my foot...luckily, my big toe broke the fall and the computer is fine, but my toe still hurts really badly eight hours later. It's bloody right under the cuticle and under that, there are some reddish dots...I was wearing dark grey nailpolish (which I just painstakingly removed) and the bottom half of the nail looks a little blue but I don't know if that's from the polish or not. Sorry for the graphic description. How do I treat this? I must have aimed the laptop just right because I can barely walk.
Thanks for the help!

Laptop fell off the bed?

I dropped my laptop. I was playing a the sims game in bed and fell asleep. I woke up with a bang, the laptop (sony vaio) fell on the floor, its switching on and I think it’s loading up but the screens black and the keyboard part doesn’t seem to be working ( noticed when i pressed caps lock the light didn’t come on,.
is it broke even though its switching on? it starts off saying vaio in big writing followed by windows loading files then appears to be loading but cant see any thing, might something have got loosened? all “looks ok from the outside…nothing looks to be cracked or broken, this is the second time this has happened, the first time there was a few lines along the bottom of the screen but all still worked ok, I thought maybe somthing might have come loose, am not sure what though, my partner took the back off to have a look but as far as we can tell all looks to be in place :/ but not sure what part it would be

any help would be great! thanks

I dropped my laptop on my big toe should I go to the doctor.?

there is no real treatment even if toe was broken, i would suggest putting little brace protecting it and if you wish, go to the doctor, have x-ray, and keep them as a memento, from yor description looks like it was not broken but badly injured (broken - will be no movement, or movement will be so painfull as cause nausea even), if there is no infection, i do not think that medical intervention is necessary.

to allow swelling go down faster, put half cup of salt in about bucket of warm water and soak your feet in that about twice a day, salt is not only antiseptic but strongly astringent as well, it will remove swelling and prevent infection. be barefoot as much as you can, and yes, you can go to school/work...

regarding mac - check if work and if it do - no intervention by mac technician is necessary...

Dropped something on my big toe and hurts way more than it should. What could I have damaged?

You may have broken your toe bone (1st phalange) but I doubt it. If you are mainly dealing with pain, you likely bruised the root of your toe nail. That is a more common injury. Your toe nail will turn blue and be very sensitive for days to even weeks. You will likely grow a new toe nail under the existing toe nail. In a few months you will start to notice the new toenail.I did this 30 years ago. I dropped a 100 pound piece of 3/8ths plate steel on edge about 12 inches down and across all of my toes. I broke my little toe and the next toe and smashed the big toe nail without breaking it. The big toe nail root was by far more painful than the broken toes.Over the years, I have broken a few toes (phalanges) and a few metatarsals, the bones that connect the toe bones to the foot. The doctors have never done anything but put me in a walking slipper. I usually took it off and put on a strong hiking or work boot instead.

I dropped my laptop on my big toe, it is real painful and became bruised and swollen, what should i do?

It's probably broken. I've had a few broken toes before and they usually start off feeling bad, then the pain sort of goes away and a huge bruise is left.
Like any broken bone, treat with ice. Toes almost always heal on their own, but sometimes they need help so a doctor will put a splint on your toe.
Why waste the money, though? It's just a toe. Some ice, some rest, use your cushiony shoes over the next couple weeks :)

What happens when you drop a laptop?

you are lucky enough that you laptop is still working. It mainly depends on what angle the laptop was dropped, which side of the laptop or what part of the laptop hit the ground first . in general Laptop screen will be broken or some components related to display may be broken due to which laptop will give distorted display. most of times some smaller electronic components may get broken on the mother board which may not allow the laptop to start. and most important Hard disk drive will not work or not detect when you start the laptop.Since its working now. thank your stars.Keep your laptop under observation. if you hear any creaky sounds from the hard disk. then it may have a hardware failure soon. ( keep all your data backed up ) before that.Rest, you can relax now. nothing to worry.

Dropped a hammer on my toe, its black now what should i do ? no fractures i believe?

If you did this yesterday the bleeding under the nail has stopped by now. (unless you are on blood thinners for some reason in which case you need to go to the ER). The nail will continue to get darker and so may the toe. It will be no different than anyother bruise and it will change colors as it resolves. Yes your nail will probably fall off.
Putting a hole in the nail at this time probably won't do anything. You need to do that while it is still actively bleeding or just after. It is to release the blood collection thereby releasing the pressure. But since it happened yesterday the blood is already coagulated so it will not come out it just has to be reabsorbed.
Personally I would soak the foot a couple times a day for 20 minutes or so in warm water or use a heating pad a couple times a day. The heat will increase the circulation in the area and help to breakdown the collection of blood. Don't soak your feet longer than this though because you can do damage to the skin and cause other problems for yourself.
When the nail falls off, you won't need to do anything. The nail bed underneath will already be hardened because of the separation of the nail bed and nail so it shouldn't be painful either. Do keep the nail trimmed as it starts to loosen so it doesn't catch on shoes or socks or even towels. If you catch the end of the nail and pull it off before it is ready it will hurt when it happens and will continue to hurt for a while after.
Hope this helps

I dropped something really hard on my foot and now my toe looks like this. Should I just leave it to heal or go to the doctor?

Am a nurse. I worked years in the urgent care. We have seen many of this.Depending on how hard the object (and how heavy it is), the bone in your toe may not have broken, or cracked. But what is happening is that you’ve hematoma, which is basically a bruise. Normally it’s not a big deal, but you’re bleeding under the toe nail-that is causing the pain.Eventually your toe nail may fall off (but it will sooner or later grow back). To relieve the “pressure” under the toe nail, a doctor will use a paperclip (I am not kidding about this), and quickly poke a hole in it. You’re asking how in the world? He’d light it with a lighter first (until it glows red from the heat). This is not something you should do yourself as it is like trying to give yourself a shot, or draw blood from one’s own arm.At the urgent care that I worked, we use this http://www.liveactionsafety.com/...They will certainly x-ray it to see if the bone of the toe is broken. But guess what? You won’t get a cast or put into one. They will “buddy tape” it. You can use a scotch tape and tape it to the next toe. This will stabilize it.Do not wear regular shoes until you’re healed. Normally you’d be wearing an “ortho” shoe (it’s ugly as hell) on that foot. But really, a good sandel will do. Regular shoe (dress shoe, tennis shoe) will be too tight (to put on and off).Keep the foot elevated and if this is ‘fresh’ injury, ice it. It will help with swelling. If it’s a few days, heat will help with the bruise. For pain - tylenol / advil will do.We had a patient who dropped a bowling ball on his big toe when he was home (no shoes on). His toe kinda exploded. He needed surgery to repair it.Best wishes.
