Windows 10 stuck on Automatic Repair, Diagnosing PC loop, etc.?

Hi there,
I built my computer about 2 years ago and used Windows 8 (now upgraded to Windows 10) for my operating system. Just recently, I came back to my computer that was once "sleeping" with multiple documents opened, to me turning my computer back on to discover the never-ending loop of automatic repair failure and diagnosing pc. I have the Windows 8 install disc to which I have tried using to repair my pc - refreshing and resetting my system to say either the drive is locked or a partition is missing. Next, I went to command prompt and tried bootrec.exe commands which stated that there were no windows installations. I tried repairing with the chkdsk command as well and it stated that it failed to transfer logged messages to event log with status 50. I m frustrated and have been trying to fix this problem for 3 days now. I d appreciate any help! Thank you!

Windows 8 laptop stuck on "repairing disk errors"?

I have an HP 2000 notebook PC. I was surfing the web and the mouse froze, so I restarted the PC. When I turned it back on, it gave me this message "your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart" and then "preparing automatic repair". After that it said Diagnosing your PC, then the screen went blank, and now it says "repairing disk errors. This might take over an hour to complete." It's been two hours so far.

I searched Google for help, but I don't have a windows 8 disk and i don't know how to remove the hard drive or wipe the HDD. Please help!!

My computer is stuck on the screen "Updating your system (10%)". Is there a way to fix it?

Looks like you already have a few good recommendations, I'll add one more. Use the power button on your system to 'force fail' the boot loader. Wait until BIOS startup is complete and as soon as the Windows logo appears press and hold the power button until the system shuts down. As soon as it powers down do it all over again twice more. Modern Windows with UEFI will usually automatically give you the Safe Mode or Recovery Console (depending on version) on the fourth failed boot cycle. I have to say your problem is a bit unique so I would add that, at least once, leave the machine alone for a few hours, or even overnight. It is rare but I have seen an occasional update on a particular system seem to 'hang' for as much as three hours then suddenly rocket through. I suspect it may be due to errors on the permanent storage device resident in the system area because this problem is usually accompanied by a steady but slow series of drive access activity. As you may be aware, disk repairs at that level can be brutally slow but failure to repair can result in a trashed system and lost data.
